Ammo, 2 years Male Australian Shepherd

Adopted
Ammo is a young neutered male Australian Shepherd whose owner moved. Friends took the dog, but couldn't keep him. He's gorgeous. He's very friendly, has puppy energy. He would be a great agility dog. He's super smart. He's red merle. Applications required, no emails or phone calls please. We may already have enough left over applications from similar-looking dogs. Ammo has more of a Border Collie look because he is probably a working Australian Shepherd. Agility or herding dog enthusiasts will be given first priority as these dogs tend to need a job or they will get into trouble. Someone who knows the breed well and is willing to address the breed needs is what we're looking for. He will be available after 3/28/17.
Meet Ariel, a 10 month old Min Pin mix. She's a female who weighs 10 pounds. She is fine with other dogs and with all over handling, but she is better playing with dogs at daycare or the dog park. At home she wants the whole lap to herself.
She was given up because she'll bolt out the door and her elderly owner can't keep up with her. Therefore we're looking for a secure situation with many doors or a fenced in yard (fences required for families with children anyway). She is available after 4/11/17.

Charlie is a 10 year old toy Poodle. Believe it or not, he's playful and active. He has cataracts, so sight is limited, but he goes outside and does his business. He likes to sniff around. He's living with Tuffy, the Shih Tzu and lived with Jesse who just got adopted. The dogs had a good life until the owner's husband became ill. He's on kibble (Fromm) mixed with wet. Daisy is a 6-7 year old Jack RussellTerrier who was given up by her breeder when she moved. She is good with kids and dogs, but we don't know how she is with cats. She was good with the grand children, but is not friendly with visitors until she can meet them on her own terms. She is getting spayed on 4/26 and will be available by the weekend.
Dolly is one of a kind. She is very gentle and a big cuddle bug, she loves to be with her people and is very devoted. She'll follow you around looking for belly rubs. She's good around other dogs and cats. She's really good around children, 8 yrs and up, but would probably be good with smaller children. She talks with this hilarious yodel. Dolly walks well on leash, but might pull if she sees a rabbit or squirrel. She is totally housebroken. She sleeps well in the crate through the night until you are ready to take her out in he morning. She may whine/howl a little at fist, but then settles down. She loves playing with squeaky toys and will chase a tennis ball. No apartments or condos for her as she occasionally barks.
Dolly had a hard life before her rescue. She was chained to a dog house all her life. She got fed when the owner felt like it. Dolly is 4 and a half years old and is female beagle mix. She is big boned so weighs around 56 lbs. She looks like a big Beagle. She is fine with all over handling and is great with other dogs, cats and kids.
Meet Glitter! She is an almost five month old mixed breed pup. She has Dane-looking feet and is going to be large, we think. She is spayed and up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Gohan is a gorgeous one year old male Collie mix who is from WV. He weighs 47 lbs. He is fine with all over handling and fine with other dogs and kids. He is interested in cats, but hasn't been aggressive, just curious (probably a cat-free household would be best). Gohan LOVES showers. So you'd better lock the bathroom door or he'll climb in...and then
muscle his way in front of you to hog the shower. He's playful and very friendly. Gohan grew up with other dogs, including his mother. He enjoys playing with other dogs and is okay with more dominant dogs. He loves to be around people, and will even join you in the shower! He doesn't mind his own baths, and will let you use a hair dryer, but would prefer air dry. He likes to play and is a ball of energy. Gohan will squirm over on the couch cuddle, and he is happy to be a lapdog (for brief periods of time between playing). His previous owners had to give him up because they were unable to provide enough time for him. While he doesn't seem to tear things up, he will get into everything if you leave him alone, so we're looking for an adopter who can provide Gohan with an interesting life with daily adventures that will address his needs. Gohan had a reaction to his rabies vaccine so we're looking for a holistic-minded adopter with a vet willing to write a waiver.

Johnnie is ADORABLE and looks like a miniature Golden Retriever. He came in with Jamie and they are very bonded so we're seeking to place together. Johnnie is two years old and appears to be a Pom/Spaniel mix. He is very playful and she's a cuddler. Both are very sweet and very attached to each other. Available NOW. He's only 2 years old and will bring a lot of joy for years to come!

They will be medium-sized dogs. Mom looks small but she's tall. We don't know who the Dad is. Laser looks like a little Border Collie with a Shih Tzu face. They are all playful and the mom has nursed them until recently. She's a good mom and plays with the pups too.They will be ready 4/1/17. We have rules for puppy applicants as only 1 in 5 pups stay in their original home and we want to increase the odds for these little ones. One adult in the family must be stay-at-home or work-from-home. Families with school-aged children need a fenced in back yard with fence attached to the house (no invisible). Leigha is a 1.5 year old Terrier mix who came into a high volume shelter with five other small dogs. She had her pups in the shelter and they were rescued when the pups were two days old. She has an underbite like a Brussels but is as tall as a Bearded Collie and slender in build. The pups are just weaned so she'll need another month before being spayed. She deserves to have a home of her own where she can finally live the pampered life she deserves. She used to chase cats, but not lately. She weighs around 25 lbs. She rides well in the car. She's good with other dogs, but we would like for her to be the princess. She will be adopted by the best fit. We are not first come, first serve. Panda is an adorable 9 week old male puppy who needs a home. Because only 1 in 5 pups stays in their original home, we want to make sure that Panda's home is his forever home so please be someone who has the time for a puppy and the ability and willingness to train and socialize a pup. Applications are online. We look forward to hearing from you. Puppies of mixed breed can grow larger than the breed listed. Teens and up; no more than 2 hours alone during the day; no bringing the puppy to work, please as that's only a short-term solution. He's just a baby who needs proper socialization and training. We've had a lot of applications for Panda but had to rule most out for the above reasons.

Pistachio is a 1 year old spayed female mix from St. Thomas. She was adopted and renamed to Sadie, but she did not like the cat, so she is coming back -- no cats for her. Her heartbroken family says she is the most adorably, sweet dog. She is a nice size too, like a Basenji. She weighs just 25 lbs. She has such a sweet personality when she's not chasing the cat! She likes to play and is good on leash. We believe she would be good with older children (she does leg "hump"). She knows sit & down. Is housebroken and is crate trained. These Island dogs are mixes of a lot of breeds so there is not one predominant breed. Princess is a gorgeous German Shepard/Collie mix from St.Thomas. She's an adorable pup who loves toys and bully sticks. She will be available starting Sat 4/15/17. Rocky is a sweet 12 year old long-haired Pembroke Corgi mix. He is possibly mixed with Papillon. Rocky was adopted at 3 and was the love of his adoptive family's life, but the toddler was too rough with him and he ended up biting the child. We don't hold it against Rocky as kids can be rough. Rocky would be a wonderful companion for a working couple or retiree. He already knows sits, off, stay, bed, paw. He is very affectionate and sweet. He's house broken and loves his toys. HE'S GREAT WITH CATS! He lived with cats all his life. He can be fearful of strangers so a quiet household is best. He's great on leash and loves his walks. Private appointments best as he is in foster care.
Hello there! My name is Rocky. They call me Rocky II because there is already a Rocky at Save A Dog. I'm a handsome 20 pound Basset/Dachshund mix. I was found in Texas as a stray and a good Samaritan picked me up.Then I was living in a foster home with other dogs and a few cats before I made my trip to Save a Dog. I got along great with their other dogs, except for a very energetic collie who bounced all over me. I did my own thing when I was with the other dogs, but drank out of the same water bowl no problem. I chased one of the cats a little bit, but they were used to dogs and not bothered by it. I'm a low rider of low to medium energy. I mostly like to hang out with you. I LOVE squeakies of any sort. I'm not wild about the crate, but will go in it if you start me from Day 1. I'm 100% housebroken. I am already on the Fromm so please don't switch me as Fromm is the best! I don't have a history with kids, so teens and up would be best. Steep stairs would be hard for me because of my short legs, but a few steps, like 5, I can handle. I'm looking for a forever home to give me the love and attention I deserve! My name is Tubby and I'm a 12 year old neutered male who had dental extractions so I'm on a soft diet. My sight is good, eyes are pretty clear for a senior. I have a grade 4 heart murmur. I came from a home where I lived with Charlie, the poodle and anther small dog and had a good life until my owner became ill. I do get chilly, so a nice warm home would suit me fine. I'd love a warm place in your lap or by the fire. I'm very quiet and will stay by your side - or in your lap ! I'm good with cats. No small kids please. Please apply online as I'm in a foster home.
