He was brought to a shelter in KY by his person as they had no time for him and he was left outside by himself too often. Housetrained, Likes the car and rides quietly in the back, no roving, etc. He does bark at the wildlife out here, but will stop when called inside. She is housebroken, and whines politely when she wants to go out. She can be crated but prefers to sleep on a dog bed on the floor or on a sofa or with someone. Here's what my foster mom says about me: He is curious but not invasive...I didn't even have to puppy proof. He is out of the crate alot and no accidents though has not specifically gone to the door and asked. He holds it through the night and is quiet, the crate is not an issue for him. He went in for a 2 hr nap today while my dog and I did house stuff and he didnt' complain.He loves the snow, digging holes, climbing where the snow is soooo high, plowing through it head first...hysterical. We play alot of 'put all the toys in the basket and lets see how long it takes Jacob to empty it' :)....he loves toys tons. He is a fast learner too. He even recognized my house driving home yesterday and coming back from the walk. The car makes him nervous still, he salivates alot but is polite and does not roam. Her foster mom says: She is doing great with potty training, she's exteremely playful, gets along great with other dogs, wonderful at sharing toys, SO affectionate (with people & other dogs!! she has been giving our dog many kisses :-), she's very inquisitive, she seems to be really enjoying the snow! She also seems to be looking to our dog as an older brother - copying everything he does and letting him be in control, but still holding her own! Our dog LOVES to play ball and the tennis ball was covered with snow - it looked like he was eating a giant snowball. So, what does Maci do? She finds a lump of snow and starts chewing on it - SO cute! Our dog can be a bit of a brat when it comes to toys - he only wants what other dogs have, but she's been great with him - not fighting over anything, just switching toys. She also seems to have a routine - which is nice! She goes to the bathroom, plays, eats a little, sleeps...and does it all over again! Her history: Maggie, Maci, and Jasper are blue heeler pups who were surrendered by their owners once they were weaned and they have been in a foster home. They are sweet and playful. Maggie, 7 years Female Pug Click on picture to enlarge Adopted Update! Maggie is doing great. Her fur is growing in and she's smelling good. Check out her new picture. Her legs are covered with fur and the fur is starting to grow in on her chest. We've got her on the Fromm Duck and Sweet Potato and probiotics and weaning her off the pred. She is the luckiest dog! She loves the Labby boy she's being fostered with and loves sleeping in the bed every night. Is she the one for you? Read on. Maggie is an adorably sweet 7 year old spayed female Pug who came to us in very sad condition. Her skin was inflamed and itchy and reeked of yeast. It was hard to be in the same room as her. Maggie is an owner-relinquished dog whose owner was going through a difficult divorce. Maggie's records show that she has had a long history of food/skin allergies which were sporadically treated due to the owner's financial hardship. At times her owner switched her to a grain-free food, but then reverted back to the cheapest grocery store food -- Maggie paid the price with her health. She has been with us for a few weeks and is doing remarkably better on the grain-free Fromm. We're using a combination of conventional and complementary medicine with her and in just a few weeks she is so happy now. We expect a long, steady recovery and ongoing care under a vet who understands both conventional and alternative medicine. We're not sure if the fur on her chest will ever grow back fully. Maggie was raised with children, but a quiet home is preferred. She deserves to be "the child" from here on out. She is good with cats and dogs, but is not a playmate for them as she pretty much ignores them. She really needs her own person, if possible. Sarah is a really playful dog who can keep another dog engaged for a few hours and then come and sit by your side while you're watching TV. She is a friendly dog and she is gentle. She takes treats nicely and is fine with food being taken away from her. She walks nicely on leash and is 99% housebroken. She's great about holding it, but if you need to go out for the evening, you will need to crate her and she accept the crate readily. She's a darling pup with lots of puppy energy. She is fostered with two male dogs and they play all day long, then flop down together in a big pile. She would be a great match for a younger dog who needs a playmate, or for a family. She just LOVES to play. She is always up for a game of chase, wrestling, or tug of war with her canine friends. She loves rope toys. She's good with kids and would be a great family dog, but only if the kids are older and the family is willing to train her. Left to her own devices, she could get into trouble, like any young dog. She's not a dog for all-day crating as it would break her spirit. She will bark at strangers, but will climb in a lap within a few minutes. She weighs about 35# so is medium-sized. She is in a foster home and has recovered from her spay surgery. Trinka, ~14 weeks Female Border Collie/Retriever  Mix   Click on picture to enlarge Adopted Trinka came to a rural shelter by herself, likely a Christmas present that went by the wayside. She is a great pup...very friendly, active, and a very smart Border Collie (maybe a mix, but she is mostly Border Collie). She is a very sweet and loving little girl, weighs about 15-18 lbs. She has already mastered all of the "Puppy IQ" toys at her foster home! She is treat-driven and will be a fun pup to train with her very inquisitive personality. She will be a very active and social member of the family. She comes quickly when called, loves lots of hugs, contact and belly rubs and is comfortable with touch on all areas of her body. She was briefly adopted and returned due to a family emergency. Her adoptive family says: She loves her crate and goes in there often on her own to rest and play with her toys. Trinka has been on schedule with the crate training and is pooping and peeing outside. She has been socializing well with all kinds of people offering her belly up for a rub. She also does well with other dogs. She loves to play fetch and will return the ball and frisbee, and is learning very quickly, ie. how to go upstairs, (down is still a challenge), to sit, to lie down and to come when called. Trinka is highly trainable showing desire, focus and aptitude. She is able to play calmly on her own and to de-escalate when calmed. She also rides calmly in the car. What a great puppy!
