Abby

Adopted

Abby, is a 10 month old Female German Short-hair Pointer Mix. She was adopted briefly and returned because the cats in the household were not adjusting well. Abby is a very affectionate dog. She wraps you in her paws and wiggles into your heart immediately. She looks like a miniature German Shorthair with gorgeous spots. She is beagle-sized. As a young pup she lost an eye and broke a jaw but it didn’t dampen her remarkable spirit. She is a total lap dog and is looking for a bond with a special human to love unconditionally. She has a bit of a "smile" on her right lip, we think due to her injury. Abby does well with a doggie door so she will definitely need a secure fence to keep her safe. She has had some obedience training but it needs to continue. She knows how to sit and walks well on a leash but is still young and energetic. Consistent reinforcement is a must for her to develop fully. She likes to play with other dogs but would not do well with a dominant type dog. She also enjoys cats and kittens. She is not the kind of dog that we want to be left for long periods of time as her primary need is to have a loving and lasting human companionship. Please fill out an application online if you are interested. Please check our Web site for visiting hours and let us know if you are coming to see her as she is in a foster home and will need to be brought to the shelter.

A rescue angel took them to her home and they have thrived, now they are ready for a home of their own. They look like possibly schnauzer or Yorkie mixes. She is a darling girl and will bring so much joy to her new family. Athena is the only one with color. Selena, the second female is miss energy. She is white with a little scruffy face. She was the first to figure out how to get out of the puppy pen and now she is more then happy to do it when she see's someone coming to get hugs and kisses. They have a brother too, Calypso. These puppies will require a stay-at-home or work-from-home situation as they will need to be house trained and socialized with people. Families with children 10 and under are required to have a physical fence, which will make your life so much easier with a young puppy who needs lots of little bathroom breaks. Adopted

Bacall is a sweet Collie mix who is soft and sweet and in need of a loving, tender adopter. She was dumped and forgotten at a high volume rural shelter. She suffered an untreated eye infection and lost the sight in that eye. This precious baby deserved better, so rescue angels came and whisked her to a foster home where she spent the next year waiting to be adopted or spoken for by rescue. No worries, though. Save A Dog spoke up for her and we will find her the best home. We had her eye checked out an it doesn't need any special treatment. She was a tiny bit shy in new situations, but follows her foster mom everywhere and is friendly to children. She does very well with the other dogs too. If you already have an application with Save A Dog, please email us to let us know if you are interested in her. If you don't have an application, please fill one out asap. :-)

He was rescued from an animal shelter in TN. Blue is under a year old and still growing. He currently weighs 65 lbs. He is a big baby who loves attention -- he is not under foot all the time. He never jumps up and is house trained with a dog door. He is great with cats and kids and dogs. He loves to play with his foster brother, a big shepherd, they play grizzly bear syle, which, is standing up, then they love the "chase each around the yard" game. He likes stuffed toys too. He is already crate trained and being a large dog with the potential for chewing, he will need to keep that up. Foster mom opens the door points and says "Go to bed Blue" and he walks in and plops down. He needs access to the outside because he gets too warm, He is in and out of the house all day, using the dog door. He is currently living in TN so the weather is too warm. His size will require obedience training and Save A Dog requires it. He should be a great student as he learns rules fast and is super smart. He seems to like to go swimming with his dog friends too. He is the sweetest dog and if you love teddy bears you would love Blue.

She was the man's companion for the last years of his life and went everywhere with him. UPDATE: FINN'S FAMILY IS KEEPING HIM. THEY HAVE WORKED OUT HIS QUIRKS AND DECIDED THEY LOVE HIM TOO MUCH TO LET HIM GO. WE'RE SO HAPPY! Finn is a little Chihuahua / Pom mix male. He was adopted as Hemi a few months ago when he was just 8 months old and weighed 10 lbs. He is a year old now and is being returned for nipping at visiting children. He is a cute little dog and easy to spoil, but he will need ongoing training and socialization. This little guy has a lot to offer if small children are not a regular part of your life. He already knows many commands, including Sit, Down, Come, Leave It, Go to your Mat. He enjoys being a snuggler, but he also enjoys running and playing with the other dogs. He is crate trained. He is neutered. He loves to hike and stays close by in the woods. His people tell us: He barks just to alert us that someone or something is near - he does not bark when he knows a person or a car. So, for instance, he doesn't bark when the mailman or the milkman comes, or at the garbage truck, but he barks if a stranger drives into our driveway. He loves playing with dogs and is good with them - if he meets a dog on a walk, he's great - if a dog comes to our house he barks a little and then stops once he's had a chance to sniff, etc. He's fairly independent (doesn't follow people everywhere), but he's definitely a companion and likes to curl up in laps or keep us company wherever we are in or outside the house. He sleeps in his crate at night and if we are off running errands - he doesn't make a peep. He also LOVES the car. Please fill out an application if you are interested and we will be in touch with you about meeting him as he is not on the shelter.

He's crate-trained and is not a barker (of course, Mom was close by and there are other dogs, so he's not totally alone, which may make a big difference!). We have a picture of his mom (a small dog who looks like a mini-aussie). He will be small. He goes outside to do his business but also uses papers, so would be a good apartment dog, too. He is current on vaccines and is healthy. He would love a family after his brief quarantine. He is available 1/5/12 and will be at the Meet and Greet at Petco on Saturday and then at our shelter on Sunday (if he's not already spoken for). He's an adorable little guy.

Jacques

Adopted

Jacques is a 1.5 year old Standard Poodle / Bouvier de Flandres mix. His date of birth is 4-9-11. He is a really nice dog despite what he's been through. If we're careful with his placement, here's why. Jacques had a tough start on life. He and Gigi his mom were rescued from a horrible hoarding situation where he was found living in a cramped, filthy chicken coop. He has been in foster care recently and is flourishing. He’s on a healthy diet to put on some much needed weight -- he is 30 lbs underweight. He is all puppy, full of playful energy and discovering the wonders of a new life. He is stunning with a silken black coat. Obedience training will be necessary, especially because of his size. But he really wants to please and seems to be a quick learner. In spite of his past treatment, he craves human companionship and is very affectionate. He seems to be okay around other dogs but his primary drive is for human interaction. He cannot be left alone for long periods of time. He is a smart dog who needs to be challenged with a lot of positive reinforcement. No invisible fence for this dog who has been through enough pain and suffering already. Jacques is a gentle giant who really wants to be someone’s lap dog. He is available to be seen on 1/5/12.

Jingles and Jangles are brothers. They are probably 8-12 months and both are males. They would do best with another dog, or adopted together. Jing and Jang ended up at the animal shelter in TN, they were there for a long time until rescued. Both are very dependent on the other, but would do well if there was another dog in the home. They are just the funniest little dogs and will make you laugh watching their antics. They are learning many new things but it is difficult with training as currently their foster mom is outnumbered. They are very quick and will need to have an adopter that will make sure they stay safe. A fenced in yard is preferred, especially if you have a busy household or children. They will try to chase cats. Any missing sock or towel can be found in their crate, unmolested but they are both hoarders, we aren't sure if one or both are the thieves, but they are very sweet and will definitely bring much joy to their new families TN foster mom says: Jingles and Jangles are the sweetest and loving puppies -- all they want is some attention and love. He loves the outdoors. He loves to be with people. He is used to sleeping in the bedroom in a crate at night and sleeps all night. He loves the car, new places, all dogs and people. Cats are unknown. He is young...maybe a year to a year and a half and is still growing. He weighs 60 lbs. right now and still has some growing to do. He would be great for teens and up due to his size and playfulness. He comes from a family who has two other dogs and he played well with them. He just wants to play...whether it's adults, kids or dogs. He would do well with a fenced in yard and won't try to jump the fence, but will need someone to play with and not be left outside alone. Adopted

Linus is a 3 year old Silky / Australian Terrier mix who weighs 16 lbs. He was thought to be five when he was first adopted, but it appears he is much younger. He has lots of energy. He would be a lot of fun for another small dog and a female pal would be a no-brainer, someone with equal energy level. He also LOVES to be out doors and would do best with a fenced in yard as he will bolt out your door and loves to have you chase him. He will let you get within a foot of him and then take off. This is why he is still up for adoption. He would be great in a house or apartment with multiple barriers to the outdoors, either a breeze way or porch, but also he needs obedience training to stay back when doors are opened. Why adopt this little boy? He is beyond cute and adorable! He cocks his head when you speak to him, as if he is listening intently and understands the words; he stands on his hind legs, as if he is dancing; jumps and leaps in your lap, as if he has springs; begs for an ice cube from the ice maker. He's taller than a typical Australian Terrier, like a Schnauzer height, but looks more like a Silky than a Yorkie. He walks well on a leash, but needs some work as he will bark at other dogs if he's allowed to pull ahead (he's good when walking beside you). He chases cats when given the chance, so no cats. He's great in the car. If you're interested in Linus, please complete an application now. He is in a foster home and can be seen by private appointment, or we can bring him to the Meet and Greet if we know you are coming.

Ritchie is a big dog trapped in a small body and he likes to play with the big boys (although we think a home without big dogs is safer for him as he can get underfoot). He gets along with all sizes of dogs but will chase cats. He loves attention and wants to be by your side as much as possible. He is used to having people around so he needs someone who is home (not a full time worker). He is black with a bit of white on his chest. Romeo was owned by a young college student who did not have much time for him and wanted to find a better life for him. He is so cute and is a snuggle bum. He will attach himself fast to one person. He likes other people but he claims one and will always keep an eye on where that person is. He is good in his crate, in fact had probably spent too much time in one. He is not a picky eater, loves his dry food but likes to beg from people too. He rides in the car great; his foster mom just puts a little blanket down for him and he is good to go. Sometimes he looks out the window and watches people in other cars, he doesn't miss a thing. He loves to play ball and likes to play with other dogs, even the big ones so must be supervised. He is good with cats and likes to ride in the car. He has the "Pom prance" down pat. So far he has not barked, but will sometimes have a quite little whine if he is lonely. He is going to need someone that can spend time with him as he has spent too much time alone up to now. She will always pick up one of her stuffed animals when she gets ready to go outside, or immediately when she comes back into her room. She has never tried to tear them up. She is good on leash, but can be strong if she sees something she wants to chase. She seems good with other dogs, but mostly ignores them. She ignored a feisty Chihuahua when tested with him. Please consider taking Sasha and giving her a chance! Please fill out an application if you want to speed the process. Otherwise, come to a meet and greet. See shelter for visiting hours.

Adopted

Selena, Athena and her litter mates are about 3-4 months old. They are very nice pups who were dumped off at a TN state prison when it was very cold. A rescue angel took them to her home and they have thrived, now they are ready for a home of their own. They look like possibly schnauzer or Yorkie mixes. Selena, the white female with tan ears is miss energy. Please apply if you are interested as these puppies will be very popular. Available weekend of 1/5/12 and will be at Petco in Natick from 11-1 on Saturday. No phone calls please.
