ABBY IS SPOKEN FOR! Abby, Ginger, Quincy, and Monica are Mandy's pups. Mandy is a purebred black Lab who weighs about 70 lbs. They were born on 2/20/11 and have been in foster care since birth. They like to play in their swimming pool and they love toys. They were ready for their new homes and will be ready for adoption as of Monday, May 16th. They are on the Eagle Pack Holistic Select, have received their first two puppy boosters, have been wormed, have been on probiotics, and are generally healthy, friendly pups. They are not spayed or neutered yet as they are too young. We do not advice early spay and neutering for young pups as it robs them of the much-needed hormone supply in order to grow properly. Our process is that you fill out the application online before coming to meet them. These are young, very adoptable puppies. We hope to place them in local homes as we offer Puppy Kindergarten classes on location in Sudbury and would love for the pups to be in a class together with their littermates.

Amber is 40 lb., medium-sized, 18 month old, spayed female Collie/Husky mix. She loves to play with every dog she meets. Pictures don't do her justice, but she's really beautiful! She's well behaved in the house, except for an occasional shoe, so she will need some crate time. She will go to the bathroom on command. She's not a jumper or counter-surfer. We think she's either a Husky/Collie or Shepherd/Husky mix, but could have some other breeds in there. She is really pretty! Amber is in a foster home so please fill out an online application so we know to bring her to a meet and greet. She weighs about 40 lbs now. Amber is a great dog she does her business on command and lets you know when she needs to go out. She can go for long periods of time though. She sleeps really well at night, we are waking her up. Loves to snuggle and follow you around. She will be at the Saturday meet and greet from 10-12 on May 28th. If she doesn't get spoken for on Saturday, she will be there on Sunday 10-noon as well.

Annie is a precious fluffy terrier. She looks like a Wheaten or Otterhound. She's 3 years old and will be available soon. She was surrendered to a high volume shelter by her owners, through no fault of her own. She is as sweet as can be. Loves to ride in the car and will sit nicely in the back, but sometimes on your lap. She's great with cats, ignores them. She's a non or low shedder, good for someone with mild allergies. Medium energy, not a puller. She will sometimes jump up but not with a lot of force, just for a pet. She's great with all dogs. We're not sure if she's been with children, so teens and up would be best. She's available on 5/21/11.

Adopted

Brody is a 15 lb. neutered male Powderpuff Chinese Crested / Silky Terrier mix who was originally a stray. His coat was all matted and he wasn't very well cared for, but look at him now. Rescue angels in Indiana lovingly cared for him, groomed him, and fed him good food and supplements so that now he looks great! Brody is a relaxed, lovable little lap dog, very laid back. He likes to be close to people. He likes to lounge around the house and take walks around the yard with the other dogs checking things out. He is very good with other dogs and puppies. Brody has an old leg injury that causes him to hold his leg up often. It doesn't bother him and he can run like the wind, but an adopter might want to have an xray at some point. As for the type of home we are looking for, an adult home is preferred or one with gentle teens. He was not exposed to children that we know of. No phone calls, please. It helps the process if you just fill out the application online. We can probably place him in a local home within a close proximity to Sudbury, MA so if you live far away from us, please wait before applying. Brody will be available on 4/25.

Ceci has a Chihuhua Face with an Italian Greyhound body. She is 4 years old, very petite, weighing only 12 lb. She LOVES belly rubs and being cuddled, in fact, she would cuddle all day if allowed! She is sweet with everyone she meets, children too. She play bows with her foster Mom’s Dachshund and is fascinated by her larger dog too. Although she seems great with dogs of all sizes, Ceci needs her own person. She does not like to share her foster Mom with the resident dogs. She is a little shy when you first meet her, but warms up quickly and loves to be held. Ceci would make a great companion for any owner or family. She is great with the children in the family who are 9 and 10. She is also great in the car without a crate, she just lays on a blanket or towel and enjoys the ride. Ceci is housebroken, she goes out to do her business and comes right back in. She prefers to be inside! Ceci will be available mid April. No phone calls, please. If you are someone who can provide a wonderful home for Ceci, please apply on our Web site and we will be in touch with you. Thanks so much! Ceci gave birth to 3 puppies on March 11th. Adopted

Meet Dora, the wonder dog. She is a VERY special dog to all our volunteers. Update from Dora's foster mom: "Dora is very sweet, gentle, cuddly, snuggly, when she sits on my lap, she gently places her paw on my face to make sure I am looking at her. She is completely crate trained, as well as house trained. She will bark only if prompted; but is otherwise very quiet and she walks really well on a leash, doesn’t pull or tug;. She absolutely loves to play with her foster dog brothers – chasing or being chased, bowing, tug o’ war, etc. She naps anywhere she is allowed to go – floor, couch, bed, crate – and will snooze for hours." Dora needs training on recall so she should not be left off leash. She also would not do well on an electric fence. She is a little shy around new people but warms up quickly. Dora has an amazing story. She is a young female, 20 lb dog, about 1.5 years old, who had puppies at our shelter in mid-January. She nursed and weaned those pups until around 6 weeks old when we got a call about an orphaned litter. So she nursed those puppies too. The new pups were 7 in number and mostly big boys, wow. She did all she could and when they were about 2.5 weeks old her milk dried up. So we tube fed them with help from our wonderful vet, Betsy Johnson. Dora still looked out for those babies and slept with them every night. She raised two families in a short, intense period of time. But Dora is just a young dog herself. She likes to play with toys and she enjoys a good chew on a bone. She's quite agile and could be an agility superstar for sure, but in the house she is content to go lie down and work on a bone. She's great with other dogs but she needs her own person, so please don't get her as a "friend for your dog" as she will be first up on the lap and want all the attention. She deserves it! Please fill out an application if you would like to meet this wonderful girl.

This is all speculation, of course, as I could be any breed. I'm from a place where dogs run free and breed. Thank God I got rescued as I was not in a good place. But please don't hold it against me. Lady
Lady

Adopted

Lady is a purebred Golden Retriever who is approximately 3 yrs old. She was an Indiana stray, but taken in by a loving dog rescuer and cared for until her trip to Massachusetts. As she is a Golden and they are prone to cancer, we are giving first preference to a holistic home, preferably a raw feeder who minimalizes vaccines (Rabies only because it's the law) and with someone who will exercise her (she's a little chunky). Lady is a real find. She is housetrained, playful, loves the water and fetching balls, she doesn't always like to give them back but prefers to be pursued to retrieve them. She is extremely lovable and obedient, wonderfully behaved in the house and adores attention. She will insist that you talk to her and pet her; if ignored she will nudge your hand and sit patiently looking at you. She is kind & friendly with adults & children, dogs, puppies, kittens, cats(she will give a bit of a chase if the cats give her the opportunity, never in a harmful way, one word and it is over). She has been around horses and does very well with them. She has no aggressions of any kind, in fact, when another animal crowds in on her food bowl, she quietly backs away letting them eat her food. She is so gentle. She is not a wanderer, stays close to the house and barn. She is trusting and very gentle. She likes to be near you, sleeping on her doggie bed. She has never had an accident inside, but she will get your attention and go to the door waiting to be let out; she will come back to the door and bark to be let back in. She knows some commands: sit, lie down, fetch. She can go all night without needing to go out. She weighs approx. 75-85 lbs, her teeth are clean and healthy, and her coat is a beautiful golden red. Her only fault is a fear of thunderstorms, but start her on homeopathic Phosphorus and you might get it under control. Flower essences work great too. She would probably do very well in a family setting. Her past is a mystery, she was found by some children wandering on the outskirts of town. They took her home and she was kept there in the back yard for 2 weeks then surrendered to the shelter after no one claimed her. The family that took her in had several dogs of their own and could not take in another dog to keep. From the shelter she then was taken into the foster home as a foster before arriving at Save A Dog. Local applications only (Sudbury and surrounding towns). Lady is a true find and we'd like to keep her closeby. No phone calls, please. Apply online at our Web site.

Hi, my name is Nala. I'm about 6 or 7 months old and I love to play. I have never had a family of my own, but I would love to have one. I promise to love and obey you. I was rescued as a puppy along with my littermates. We were all named after Lion King characters, but we don't all necessarily match the characters in personality, so no worries. We like to play and chase a ball or just sit in your lap. We've had our vaccines and are spayed and neutered. Following is an update from my foster mom about me: Nala is a riot! I'm seeing basically no shyness at all this morning. She chases me around the house. She keeps flopping upside down for belly rubs, especially when I try to walk her outside! Walking on the leash is new for her. She prefers to flip upside down on the grass and wiggle around for me to scratch her belly. I finally had to pick her up and carry her in! She has a great personality! She loves to sit on the fireplace and bark at her reflection. Her foster dad was laying his head next to hers on the fireplace and she kept nuzzling him with her nose. She is precious! She LOVES playing fetch with the tennis ball! She prances all over the place with that ball. Also, she is great with the cats. Really doesn't show any interest in them. They walk up to her and nuzzle noses but that's the extent of it. She is also fantastic with Marino, a senior dog in her foster home. I am thrilled since he is so delicate at this point. He follows her EVERYWHERE though! Overall, she is friendly, playful, very affectionate and just a sweetheart!" Please fill out the application online and the Save A Dog people will invite you to meet me.

Pablo is an adorable pup who loves to play. He's really good in the house, is not into everything. He loves to chase a ball and he likes to swim. He was rescued from a shelter after he came down with parvo. He survived beautifully and continued to flourish. He loves the water, loves to chase a ball, loves kids and dogs. He will run all over the farm where he was fostered with dogs, cats, horses, sheep, and goats. He will bark at the cats, not that he would hurt them, but he thinks they're fascinating. Please allow him to grow and develop before neutering as puppies need hormones to grow properly. Available 5/21/11.

Meet Sadie from TN! If you want a sweet, loving dog, she's your girl! Sadie is a wonderful little dog. She is great with other dogs of all sizes and ages. She loves attention from people and is good with strangers. She loves to snuggle and sleep with someone. She likes having her tummy rubbed and ears scratched. She is healthy, 1 yr old, around 30#...I think. She is housebroken, leash trained, good in the car and just an all around super sweet, cute dog. She is available 5/16. She looks big in these pictures but they were taken when she was pregnant, so she has slimmed down and will be ready for a home. She's such a sweet dog, she even let Mandy nurse her pups as she had hers at the same time and they both shared the pups. So sweet! She is so gentle with all the pups and would still be nursing them if we let her. Now it's her turn as she's a pup herself. Please be someone who can give her a great home and the time that a dog needs.

GREAT NEWS! Scrappy has been accepted into the NEADS program and will be trained as a service dog. We're so excited for Scrappy! Thanks very much to all his supporters and to the volunteers who worked with him! You opened doors for him! Here's his original bio: Scrappy is a very friendly, 1 year old Chocolate Lab who was brought to Save A Dog because the family is expecting the 4th child any day. He loves kids, but has that Lab personality that can knock them down in his enthusiasm so he would be best with older kids. He is used to being with a family where someone is home during the day, so full time workers would probably not be a good idea unless he can go to doggy daycare. He is not destructive, but will sometimes chew on something he's not supposed to, like a shoe or a toy. He is good on leash and tends to walk right beside you. He would be too much for an older dog as he's just a big puppy who doesn't know his own strength. He is now neutered. He is great with dogs and cats! We've had him for almost a month so please donate to help with his expenses. Available now!

Meet Tina! She is an ADORABLE tiny puppy who is ready to be adopted. She was born at Save A Dog in a foster home where her mama, Ceci, was lovingly cared for by one of our volunteers. She was born on March 11th. Mama Ceci is a Chihuahua/Italian Greyhound Mix. Tina is the most tentative and affectionate of her siblings. She still loves to nestle with her mom and be held by her foster family members. Tina is all black with one white front paw and one white back paw. Tina is also the only sibling born with a naturally bobbed tail, which means there could be some Australian Shepherd in there. Tina, like her siblings, loves to run around and play with the 2 resident dogs. Tina does the army crawl as she approaches them and will then roll over on her back as she is still more cautious than her siblings. Please fill out an application online and we will contact you via email for an appointment. These puppies are 9 weeks old. They are in a foster home.

Tuffy, ~ 16 months Male Lab  Mix

Adopted

Tuffy is a 16 month old yellow Lab mix who was recently returned. He is a wonderfully friendly, joyful dog who developed separation anxiety. He has a lot to offer to the right person who has time for him. He loves long walks, but that's not enough exercise for this busy boy. He LOVES other dogs and it would help a great deal if he had another dog to play with. Here's his original story. He was originally a stray. At that time he had a fractured front left leg that healed on its own. The leg doesn't seem to bother him at all, especially as he loves to run like the wind. He is housebroken and gets along well with cats, though he’d be too much for young kittens. He LOVES to play with other dogs. For as hard as he loves to play, he equally adores snuggling with his people. He is a medium to high energy dog – daily 45 minute walks thru the woods go a long way to help tire him out and it’s a great exercise for his leg. The walk is not too long for him - there is nothing that his old injury stops him from doing! When we first got him we took him therapy swimming at Flow Dog in Waltham, MA - he loved it! A physical therapist adopted him and worked on his leg too. He loves any kind of attention, so enjoyed the strengthening ones (playing tug, etc.), but he’s not so fond of the stretching ones so I do them while he's asleep – he sleeps right thru them. He is still a young dog, so a stay at home person or someone that works shorter hours would be wonderful. He would love children of all ages but tweens and teens might be the best match for him. Tuffy, so named because he was "tuff" enough to go through the ordeal of a broken leg untreated, is a wonderful little guy, always giving back in abundance. Please apply online to express interest in the dog as he is in a foster home. Much thanks to all the folks who have sent in donations to cover his physical therapy expenses.
