Angel, 2 years Female Cockapoo / Powderpuff Chinese Crested
Mix
|
|
Adopted
Angel is a beautiful 15 lb. 2 year old white Cock-a-Poo / Powderpuff Chinese Crested mix who has been in our care for several months. She is a very special dog who was rescued during her pregnancy -- she had her puppies here on 5/31/13 in a very loving and devoted foster home, so please understand if we are being very selective as to where she goes. She is a true lap dog who loves nothing more than to cuddle with her person on the sofa or in the bed. Once she gets her girlish figure back, we will have her spayed. Angel is a very shy dog who will walk hesitantly on lead, but will run around like a normal dog if she is in a fenced in yard. So we feel this is what she needs, as well as a local adopter who will stay in close touch with Save A Dog and with Angel's foster mom. Angel is used to a lot of coddling from her foster mom and is a picky eater, so you may need some hand-holding through the transition. She will be spayed mid to late August and then be ready for her forever home. Apply online if you are interested. We want a holistic home only, no grocery store dog food. Single owner or couple is best.

Adopted
Chloe was born on 5/31/13 in the foster home of one of our Save A Dog volunteers. She was born to Angel, a white Cockapoo/Chinese Crested mix. Dad is unknown so we DNA tested one of the pups and the results show that dad is a Beagle/Whippet mix. There are other breeds in the heritage, but these are going to be small dogs. Mom weighs only 15 lbs. We received Angel when she was pregnant and gave her excellent prenatal care with a holistic diet including supplements prior to whelping, hence these are all very healthy puppies. The puppies currently weigh between 4-5 lbs We are seeking experienced adopters without small children as pups this young need gentle handlers. Please be holistically minded too. We will be reviewing applications in the next few weeks. Chloe is spoken for, however.

Cleo, 6 months? Female Boxer / Dane
/ lab
Mix
|
|
Adopted
Cleo is beautiful six month old Great Dane, possibly Boxer mix who lost her home because she thought it was fun to chase the chickens. She didn't hurt them, but it was understandably stressful for the chickens. We do not know of many puppies that would not love a game of chicken chasing if they had the chance. Luckily a volunteer dog rescuer was there helping out at the time and intercepted her going into a pen and put her right into her van. Cleo is one of the sweetest and gentle pups we have come across in a while. She loves people and other dogs. Cleo is very well mannered. She takes food gently, does not jump up and is not mouthy. Cleo walks on a leash and does not seem to mind her crate. She loves to run and play with Albert all day long. She will come in and take naps on a big fluffy dog bed and has not had any accidents in the house. She is a mild mannered " Big " puppy! She is about 6 mo. old and weighs 42 lbs. and is spayed all ready! She is available on 8/23/13. Please help speed the process by applying online before meeting her. We are showing the dogs on 8/23 from 4-7 PM and then on Sunday, 8/25, from noon to 3 PM at our shelter, Save A Dog, located at 604 Boston Post Road in Sudbury, MA.

Ebony, 4 years Female Beagle
|
|
Adopted
Ebony is a very sweet and quiet 4 year old Beagle who needs a new home. She is beyond sweet and great with everyone. She lived with 4 other dogs so now could use a home of her own. She's spayed and up to date on vaccines. Foster mom says she only had one accident the first day. She was a field trial dog who had a complication during whelping so the breeder spayed her and turned her over to Save A Dog so she could be adopted. She could lose a few pounds. Ebony is soft and gentle in nature. She just needs a chance. She could even be a friend for another dog. She's also great with cats. She has very low expectations and would be happy just sniffing around in your back yard. She also loves being inside and comes upstairs in the house at Save A Dog. She does not get on furniture, does not have that in her concept, so if you're one who doesn't want a dog on furniture, she is already trained. We think she would be fine with children. She would do best in a home that has access to the outside with a fenced in yard. She would not do well in an apartment or 2nd story building. She's quiet, but in case she finds her voice, we would not want her to lose her home. Please apply online and/or come meet her during our shelter visiting hours. Ebony will be at Petco in Natick on Saturday and Unleashed in Wayland on Sunday.

Eden, 5 months Female Collie /Lab/Spaniel
Mix
|
|
Adopted
Eden, Elliot, and Ester are nice pups who were brought into a southern shelter along with 2 other litters of puppies -- all from the same house. The owners were over whelmed with puppies and we guess decided to just dump them all at the shelter. Our rescue partners took the litter of the 3 oldest and the 6 youngest (the Aussie mix pups). These have longer noses like a Collie, but are going to be medium-sized.
With love and time they have come along way and are sweet and gentle, loving young dogs now. They are very submissive to other dogs and try to make friends with all the other dogs. They love to play and then come inside to take afternoon naps. They are being crate trained right now, so they spend about 2-3 hrs at a time in the crate twice a day which is average for this age (they are coming up on 5 months now). They sleep indoors on a fluffy bed and use the doggy door and they have never had an accident in the house. They are learning to walk on a leash and doing pretty good with little treats for rewards. With gentle love and training all 3 puppies will be a great addition to any family. They love to chase a ball! Eden will be at Petco in Natick on Saturday and our shelter on Sunday, 604 Boston Post Road, Sudbury.

Gypsy, 1-1.5 Female Lab/Hound
Mix
|
|
Adopted
Gypsy survived somehow on the streets since she was very young. One day a woman hit her in the face with a metal pole, her face was split open and she had lost her trust in people. An older man fed her by throwing her some food, but he had very little himself so it wasn't much. Eventually was able to catch her. When she was brought home she just shook, so afraid she would be hurt. She soon realized her rescuers just wanted to help her and started to come around quickly. We then found she was pregnant and she had 9 beautiful puppies.
Now Gypsy is a great girl, she loves to play with her 5 foster brothers and sisters; she adores the cats and will play with the resident kitten. She knows commands to sit, shake, lay down and is good on leash. She will alert if she needs to go potty by pestering you. Loud noises scare her. She was wonderful at the vets office when getting spayed. She would need a gentle adopter, but someone that is firm and consistent as she is a large dog. Reward based training and exposure to new things would be best for her. Gypsy is waiting for her forever home...Please fill out an application if you are interested in meeting her. Gypsy will be at Petco in Natick on Saturday and our shelter on Sunday, 604 Boston Post Road, Sudbury.

Adopted
James is an adorable 10 week old pup who is already crate trained and almost house trained. James and Sania are litter mates but look as different as night and day. James looks like a little English Bulldog and has a naturally docked tail. He's plump and healthy -- looks like a little sausage. Australian Shepherds also have a naturally docked tail and Sania has the Aussie look and feel, but with the longer tail. Both pups came from Anguila where mixed breed dogs roam freely and there are not enough homes. Pups that get a ride to the States are so lucky. The shelter there provides all the medical vaccinations and vetting, but they are too young to be spayed and neutered. We have learned the hard way, as many dog adopters have, that it is healthier to wait on the spay/neuter surgery, so we provide a $50 rebate after the dog matures and has the surgery at your vet. Please see our Holistic Dog page for more information on the healthier protocol. These pups are already through the quarantine and are ready for adoption. It is best to fill out the application so that you don't miss out. We also have drop in hours so see the Web site. They will be at our meet and greet on Sunday only (Aug 11th) from 12-3 at our shelter located at 604 Boston Post Road, Sudbury, MA. Apply at www.saveadog.org. Max, 6 years old Male Havanese
|

|

Adopted
Max is a 6 year old neutered male purebred Havanese who recently came to Save A Dog because he was overly devoted to his person and was not with the husband or grand children. He has had one owner his whole life and was raised in Massachusetts. He was vetted every year and has had enough vaccines to last a lifetime so a holistically minded adopter or one willing to be guided will not need to continue these extra vaccines. Max would prefer a female adopter and we would like that person to be "dog savvy" having worked with a small dog successfully and taken a dog through positive reinforcement (clicker) training. He is ADORABLE and has a very winsome personality and a lot to offer to the right person. His foster mom finds him totally fixated on her and follows everywhere but will sit next to her inside and out and remains quiet even when there are distractions (dogs and children) around which would get her other dogs barking. He's been fine with my husband and comes up to him for attention but definitely a woman's dog. His foster mom feels that he is a dog that, with very little training. would be a great off-leash dog since he doesn't wander and follows owners. We want his next home to be his forever home! Since he is in a foster home and not at the shelter currently, arrangements to meet him will be made once we receive your application and will contact you. He is non-shedding so will need grooming every 6 weeks. Please apply online and we can begin a conversation with you about him.

Mojo is a beautiful 1 year old "Speckled Golden Retriever" mixed breed dog who has the head of a Retriever, but coloring like an Australian Shepherd or Catahoula. His coat is silky and beautifully healthy. He weighs 67 lbs and is neutered. He is very social with people and dogs. He was a living with some people that were feeding him but they claimed he was not theirs. You just couldn't find a sweeter more easy going guy, He will charm you when you meet him. He had never been in a house before rescue and is adapting very quickly. He also walks on the leash and will not pull but needs some fine tuning. He is too curious about cats, but LOVES kids and lights up when he sees them. He's not a dog for extreme sports or too much wrestling with other dogs his size as he has some old injuries. He would do very well at a dog park as he is all about play, but he really loves to be with people and is starved for affection and so happy and grateful for any love he can get. Mojo is willing to learn anything you want to teach him. He cannot go for strenuous jogs or play rough with other large dogs as he has some old injuries (healed broken bones). He does not jump on people nor is he mouthy. We think he is either past the puppy stage or he is just a gentleman. Please fill out an application if you are interested in meeting Mojo. She knows Sit, but she still jumps up out of excitement. She cannot go with cats as she gets fixated when she sees one, to a fault. She has a prey drive so is great for ball chasing and other fun dog activities. Please apply online if you are interested in meeting her or come to one of our shelter visiting days that we call Meet and Greet the Dogs. We are usually open on Saturdays and Sundays from 12-3. Check home page for any changes in hours.

Roscoe, 1 year, 8 months Male Labrador Retriever / Basset
Mix
|
|
Adopted
Roscoe is a year old Lab mix. He has a wonderful disposition and all current shots including Rabies shot. He could have some Basset in there as he has some Basset features and has slightly shorter legs than your average Lab. He lost his best buddy who is all he has ever known since His family found him as a 6 week old pup. They had to put down their other dog and felt Roscoe needed another good home with other dog (s) to play with. He is great with kids and other dogs and does not bark or cause any commotion. He is good with cats. The family gave him up, oddly enough, because he loves to play with other dogs and they didn't want to get another dog, so he is now looking for a new home. He weighs 67 lbs. Dog or no, please give this dog a chance. He is available as of NOW. He is easy going and plays with everyone. He was raised with a 13 year old girl and her mother. He is at the shelter waiting to meet you! He has only been in a home up until now and is very sad and confused at the shelter.

Adopted
Sania is an adorable 10 week old pup who is already crate trained and almost house trained. James and Sania are litter mates but look as different as night and day. James looks like a little Boxer and has a naturally docked tail. He's plump and healthy -- looks like a little sausage. Australian Shepherds have a naturally docked tail and Sania has the Aussie look and feel, but with the longer tail.

Shelby, ~ 1 - 2 years Female Brittany Spaniel / German Short-hair Pointer
Mix

|
Adopted
Meet Shelby, a sweet dog who was rescued from horrid conditions. She lived with drug addicts and was forced to live life on a chain and to have puppies so that they could be sold for drug money. Her feedings were hit or miss and her collar grew into her neck. She and some of her puppies were rescued by loving neighbors who saw her plight, but not before she was stabbed in the neck and hit by a car. She was not given medical treatment for her injuries until the rescuers stepped in and convinced the people to let her go. By the time she was rescued her wounds were severely infected. She received treatment for her wounds and complete vetting and now she is happy and healthy. The pups were sent to another rescue group as the drug addicts kept trying to steal them back to sell as they needed some cash!
The foster's Granddaughter has been playing and working with Shelby and she is walking on a leash and is house trained and will go into her crate willingly. Shelby plays well with the other dogs at the foster home. The vet estimates her age to be about a year old. She is so sweet and has had an awful start to life but even after all she has been through she is a sweet little dog. Please be that special adopter who will give her the life she deserves. A quiet home would be best.

Adopted
Sydney is a sweet Lab mix who came to us from Animal Control. She is around five years old and already spayed and up to date on all her vaccines. A family surrendered her because they realized that they could not afford her one month after getting her from Craig's list. She was with small children and did great. She is very calm and well behaved and rides well in the car. She is in foster and is great inside and out, on long walks greeting people and other dogs. She rarely barks and sleeps in her crate through the night without a whine. She sounds perfect! We would love an adopter who is going to exercise her as she is overweight. Switching her to our house food, Fromm, will take you half-way there and then she just needs long walks on a daily basis. You can start out slow and increase it. She is good with dogs and is reputedly good with cats too. Let's get this girl her forever home ASAP.

Tseng, 10 Weeks Female Corgi/Whippet/MinPin/Boxer

Adopted
Tseng just arrived from the island of Anguilla. She is a tiny 10 pound puppy of mixed breed heritage and is probably a mixture of many small breeds. She is a little shy at first with all the newness but warms up quickly. She loves other dogs and cats are fine. She will snuggle or will play with her tennis ball. She settles into the crate at night and is paper trained working on going outside. She is not at all mouthy so will be great with younger kids and is food motivated so will be easy to train. She is young we are looking for a home with not many hours alone (at least for the next few months) so she has the attention she needs to learn crate training, house training and socialization. She is available to meet if you fill out an appication on our website or come to a meet-at-greet (shelter visiting hours) posted on Web site.

Wilma is a fun-loving 7 year old female English Bulldog who is looking for a great home. She is a happy girl who loves everybody. She loves to chase balls and she loves the water! She's spayed and up to date on vaccines. She is from Massachusetts. She is great with kids and dogs and was raised with young children. She is house trained, crate trained, boards well. She needs a fair amount of play and exercise because her busy family did not have the time to give her and she would destroy toys for attention. We believe this is an awesome dog who was just bored. She has seasonal allergies and a slight cherry eye. Please apply on our Web site as she will need to be brought to the shelter to meet her applicants.
