Adopted

Beau is a sweet and quiet 3+ year old Beagle boy whose big brown eyes will melt your heart. He is the calmest, most gentle boy. He was raised with and adores children. He will spend ample time lying by their side while doing homework or watching TV, and he enjoys nothing more than snuggling with you and going for long walks. He is safe with cats and he does very well on a leash, gets along with dogs too. For Beagles we like a fenced yard to keep them safe, but if you have Beagle experience and can provide adequate exercise and things to sniff, we will consider you. He is a country boy so the city would probably be a shock to him. He enjoys toys, treats and lots of people time. He thinks getting petted is what life is about. He is waiting to share all these things with the adoring family he will forever call his own. Beau is truly a special loving dog who will fill your life with happiness and lots of doggie kisses.

She loves water, epeccially after playing and when the weather is warm so a home on a lake would be great!. Carmel is learning to like her crate. She settles down in the evening after playing all day. Please fill out an application online to get the process started. No phone calls please. She will be at Petco in Natick from 12-2 PM on 12/14.

Adopted

Meet Dallas, a 1yr old Basset Beagle mix. He is so very sweet, adores attention, and loves other dogs. Dallas was picked up wandering down a country road. He was underweight, but has gained weight and is now fit and healthy. He is perfect in every way, except with cats -- he will chase. He is pretty good on a leash, not a marker or barker, enjoys long walks and chew treats. He wants to be on a lap giving kisses and licks. He will make a wonderful addition to some lucky family. At his foster home Dallas has had to live in a very large outdoor kennel with his buddy Sam but he keeps his kennel very clean and does his business outside. He has been walked several times a day every day and has spent several hrs daily in a fenced area for play time with several of his friends, including lots of running and romping. Dallas enjoys coming inside for short times and does very well during that time lying on a doggie bed or exploring the new atmosphere. He is one very special loving little dog just waiting for the family he will call his own, he will need a fenced yard.

Drumstick is a one year old Beagle who was supposed to die on 11/26. He was stuck in an over-crowded shelter that has to euthanize for space. We couldn't let that happen to such a young dog who has done nothing wrong other than being born at the wrong time in the wrong place. So he came up from Morehead, KY via the "canine underground railroad" . He is petite at 20 lbs. He is fine with cats but a bit nervous in the house so likely he does not have much experience living in a loving home. Please make room in your heart for this handsome boy.

Usually quiet and snuggly, Flake takes several naps during the day, loves to meet new people, rides quietly in the car with a bully stick to chew. She will entertain herself with sturdy un stuffed squeaky animal toys and chew toys and is eager to learn. So far she knows "sit", "(lie) down" and "crawl" (clicker training) and loves to show you what a smart little puppy she is. If she is frightened or startled she will yip or bark but it is rare. Jarod is a black Lab / Flat-coat Retriever who was surrendered by his owner on 11-26. He probably got too big and strong. He's over 65 lbs. He walks well on a leash, and is a very sweet, playful boy. He gets along great with other dogs. Cats are fine, she was afraid at cat testing. During the photo shoot, he found the ball and enjoyed a game of fetch. As he's a Lab he will need lots of ball throwing and exercise including other dogs to play with so if kids are in the family, a fenced in yard is a must, but young adults who can take him to the dog park or doggy day care regularly, would be fine. Jarod is ready for a new home!

Adopted

Jette was taken in by a vet because she was injured. She had a stick embedded in her neck/mouth (see photo) which was removed. Donations would help to cover the cost of surgery. The vet put her under anesthesia and pulled out of Jette's neck. It was so deep it had poked a hole through to her mouth too. Jette walks great on leash with no pulling at all. It was almost like there wasn't even a dog on the other end. She is very pretty, happy, and friendly. She is great with cats but prefers her space away from other dogs so she needs to be an only dog in her home. The shelter guessed her to be 3 years old and she is active but not hyper. Very nice girl. Please help us raise the funds that we paid in faith, knowing our supporters would come through. :-). We have her here with us now and she is in a foster home and doing great! Jette's foster mom says about her: Jette is sweet as can be. Totally housebroken. VERY good about going into the crate and settles down immediately, especially if she has something to gnaw on. Has plenty of energy but settles down in the house nicely. Loves to get on furniture and the bed to be near someone. BIG time cuddler/snuggler; wants to be as close as possible to someone. Loves to be touched everywhere; not at all sensitive in the neck area where her surgical incision is. I have not heard her bark yet. One minute she ignores them and the next she is chasing them. Don't know what she would do if she caught one. Great on leash; not protective of her food. She is just a great dog!!!

Kayla is a beautiful 16 weeks old, female collie/ Shep mix. Kayla and her sister, Kristen came to a TN animal shelter as strays. They were very scared when they were there. Now they are happy girls that play all day with each other and the other dogs in foster. They were in a foster home for a month in TN so are very acclimated to home life and they use the dog door to go outside to play and do their business. Life has been care-free for them in the home with multiple dogs and cats. Now they are ready for families of their own. They are very close, and do everything together, so might be sad at first, but we expect that they will recover quickly and bond to their families, as most pups do. They are quiet in the crate and have done very well on house training. They don't bother the foster cats and are really good girls. Kayla is black and Kristen is black and tan and has more of a Shepherd look. She is at the stage in her growth where she is tripping over her feet. They weigh 25 lbs now. We prefer Shepherd experience or that the adopter has done extensive research on the Shepherd breed. Please fill out an application if you are interested or come see them during our showings. They will be shown at Petco in Natick on 7/14 from Noon to 2 PM.

Kelloggs is a 10 week old pup who was rescued in Anguilla and flown to Save A Dog. He's considered an Island Retriever, which is a lot of small mixes that resemble Lab but DNA tests show a lot of small breeds such as Pug and Min Pin. He is available for adoption and is as he's recovering from sarcoptic mange, would be best as an only dog as his bedding should be kept separate. This minor set back shouldn't keep him from being adopted and we would consider him going with another dog as long as he his sleeping quarters are kept separate. He's a sweet pup, never makes a sound and is pee-pad trained and now will ask to go out. He's quiet and is good in the crate or X-pen and then when you take him out, he does his business outside. Such a gem of a pup! He is too young to be neutered, but he has had his first set of puppy boosters. Please be someone who is home during the day to care for a young pup. To speed the process, please fill out an application on our Web site and then come visit during our shelter hours (posted on the Web site).

She is housebroken and crate trained. Maddie is very smart and receptive to positive training. We are looking for teens and older as she has no young child experience. We have known Maddie since she was a puppy as she was adopted from Save A Dog. She has had some reactions to vaccines, so we will be wanting any adopter to follow our holistic profile so that she will live a long and healthy life. We are hoping to find Maddie a forever home in the Sudbury area, so that she can receive continuity of veterinary care at our local vet. As she is not in the shelter, we will make arrangements for her to be brought to Save A Dog to meet you once we receive your application.
