Beau, 6 years Male Yorkie
|
|
Adopted
Beau and his littermate, Becky, are two sweet, pure-bred 6-year old Yorkshire Terriers whose owners went into Assisted Living and could not take them. They are bonded and will be placed together. They are siblings (male and female) but look different. Becky is sweet and bigger (13.5 lbs.) with ears that point up. She’s adorable. She does not bark but does communicate. Her brother Beau (12 lbs.) is a more vocal puppy and great watch dog. They are bonded and must remain together and would be happiest in a home with adults and a fenced yard. They are accustomed to being allowed on furniture and in the bed, although they will also take naps in their little dog beds. They are little dogs who need to get out often, so a stay at home or part time worker would be ideal as they are used to being with their humans. They are on the raw diet and we would love for them to stay on it as it's much healthier for them and will keep their teeth clean. They are in good shape and do not need dentals. As they were not raised with small children, we would like them to go to an adult home or teens and up.

Charming, ~ 5 years Male English Bulldog
Mix
|
|
Adopted
How about an English Bulldog without the respiratory problems? Charming is your man. He lives up to his name as he has the English Bulldog personality through and through -- and won't have the respiratory problems that most English Bulldogs have! Charming is 4-5 years old and has plenty of spark and playfulness. He is the sweetest, most loveable, affectionate dog. Loves to cuddle and give kisses. He's already neutered and ready to go. He is great with other dogs, and ignores cats. He is a fun loving little man. He has medium energy and loves playing with rope toys in the back yard. He will run around outside for a bit, but when he has worn himself out, he likes to curl up and take a nap. In foster he did not engage with a small older dog but did with younger Shih-tzu. He is good on a leash but will pull hard if he is on s scent so needs the no-pull harness sometimes. We prefer an adult home since he is coming from an adult home, but visiting kids are fine. He weighs 35 lbs. He sleeps through the night on a dog bed in a crate with the door open. Seems to prefer this to sleeping out of the crate, but hates being in a crate with the door shut. Apply at www.saveadog.org.CHARMING WILL NOT BE AT THURSDAY MEET & GREET.

Duke is a senior 9 1/2 yr old Miniature Schnauzer. Duke is a rescue not out of neglect or abuse but out of circumstances in a sad situation. Duke has lived a life filled with caring love and was provided with all things in life that any dog could ever hope for. He spent his entire life with the same person until a few months ago when sadly, his owner had to go into a nursing home facility. The owner's family boarded him and finally relinquished his guardianship to the clinic where he was being boarded. A Save A Dog volunteer foster parent works at the clinic and has cared for Duke.
Duke is a quiet easy little dog, he is playful, gets along very well with other dogs and cats. He is totally housebroken. He likes a thick soft doggie bed with a blanket. A fenced yard would be recommended as he loves to spend ample time outdoors. He enjoys going for long walks and exploring and does very well on a leash. Duke minds very well, he likes to be close to people. He is on no meds, has had a recent dental, a healthy boy. Duke would be best in a quiet home where someone would be home with him during the day. He is both house trained and crate trained. Please note: Duke was not accustomed to being picked up. If you put your arm under both front legs & on his chest and a hand on his butt, lift gently he accepts that very nicely. I am sure that because his owner was an elderly person he was not picked up unless absolutely necessary. He will be available 8/16/14.

He's also 99% house trained -- he hasn't had one accident in the house. In general he’s curious like most puppies but unlike most puppies he’s reserved which is nice for someone getting their first dog. Because he's been with his litter mates longer than what is customary, he has learned not to bite down hard. He's a very well-behaved pup. He can be shy at first, but warms up quickly. Adopted
1 year old female, 35 lbs spayed Aussie/collie mix
Harmony was rescued from a high kill shelter in TN. We have been working hard to save many dogs from this shelter as they are euthanized within days of their arrival.
Harmony is just beautiful inside and out. She is playful with all the other fur kids and loves attention. Currently she is having to share attention but will love a family to love her. She would be great at the dog park or anywhere dogs gather. Her breed is very intelligent and she does have some herding tendencies when playing with other dogs. She isn't pushy about it but wishes they would just get in a small group and stop running every which way. Because of the herding we recommend no toddlers.
She is so sweet, her coat is getting very silky soft since starting on Fromm dog food in rescue. She should train easily and no doubt be top of the class in obedience class. Has not been cat tested. No phone calls please. Her updated arrival will be posted on her bio as we learn it. DUE TO THE MANY APPLICATIONS FOR HARMONY WE WILL BE SHOWING HER SATURDAY 12-3 AT OUR MEET & GREET.

Krista is about 1 yr, 17 lbs she is a little corgi mix, possibly pure bred but we can't confirm that.
It's hard to believe that this gorgeous, petite Corgi mix, Krista, ended up at a high kill shelter in TN. She looks as if she had puppies not too long ago. She is a sweet girl looking for a home that will shower her with love. She is so pretty but does not yet show her potential; her coat is not as stunning as it will soon be -- puppies and low nutrition dog food is not conducive with a gleaming shine, but it won't take long. Save a dog will give her a great start and will educate you on the proper nutrition and supplements she needs to get her in top shape. She is just the sweetest thing. She has not been cat tested, but walks well on leash is quiet as a mouse in her crate. She falls asleep on car rides, or looks out the windows. She is just a little thing that will love a safe yard to play in. She is being spayed Thursday the 31st so will not be at Meet & Greet that night. Hopefully Saturday's. Lady is a real lady, hence the name. She is a 1 -2 yr. old sweet and gentle Tennessee Walker Coon Hound who weighs about 55 lbs. She was raised with a family but lost her home because her 15 yr old owner did not have enough time to spend with her and wanted Lady to have the best home possible. Lady sits, stays and shakes, does not jump on you. She is house trained, uses a dog door, walks on a leash, loves people and other dogs, and is crate trained. Lady loves her crate and will sleep all night in it and off and on during the day. She loves her squeaky toys and will carry them around with her. She will sit for hours staring at you adoringly and let you gently pull on her long soft ears. She is a very gentle dog with a heart of gold and very docile with other dogs and puppies, all the little dogs boss her around. Because she is a hound a country home with a large fenced yard would be best for her! Her foster family has teens and says about her: Lady is an amazing dog, she is so sweet and gets along great with Patch, teenage boys and my Husband. It took her a while to settle down last night, but has adjusted already to the house. She loves to run, loves water and always has to have something to play with. She will make her new family very happy! She is the perfect dog in many ways. Her only vice is barking when she sees a dog she wants to play with, but once she meets the dog she is quiet. She met the neighbor's dogs in her foster home and she was fine after that, so if you have abutting neighbors you will just want them to meet her.

They are in an exercise pen for containment inside and will need to begin crate training soon. They are young enough to be fine with cats.

Macy, 2 Years Female Pug/Cairn Terrier
Mix
|
|
Adopted
Macy is a Pug/Terrier mix and only 16 lbs. She is a little fire cracker so needs an experienced dog handler as she is a fast mover. Her personality shines through and she will melt your heart and give you laughter and joy every day of her life. She is really something!
Macy came into a high kill shelter in TN, shortly thereafter she had puppies at the shelter Manny, Mojo and Mack. Macy has always taken great care of her pups but is ready to be her own dog and not mom. She is very loving and intelligent and would do great with another dog. She tolerates cats. Currently her best friend is a big German shepherd but it would be wonderful if she had a friend her own size. She has been crated very little due to 24 hour a day care of her boys. But she seems to curl up quietly the few times she was in the crate. She is house trained with a dog door. She would be happy with a yard to play in as she is so full of fun and loves the outdoors. She curls up on her dog bed at night waiting for her foster mom to wake up in the morning. She has not been crate trained but is not mischievous. She is a nice size at 16 lbs, but not at all delicate. Macy walks on leash too.

Mandy, 1.5 years Female Blood Hound/Redbone Mix
Mandy, the sweetest dog you will ever meet, was rescued from a high kill shelter in TN with her four babies. They were all going to be euthanized but rescue was able to get to them in time. Mandy was a caring, loving mother but unfortunately one of her babies died. It was determined that she had mastitis and the hard decision was made to put her pups into another foster home to bottle-raise them. Her puppies are all thriving and will be ready to come to Save A Dog in another month. Mandy is now ready for her forever home. Her foster family says she is a one in a million dog. Besides her elegant coloring, she is gentle, sweet, quiet and accepting of everyone and everything. She is very laid back and loves a soft pad to lounge on and healthy chews. She is not a big fan of water but will tolerate her bath. She would love a safe fenced yard to be able to sniff and explore but after a short time she is eager to come inside. She is completely house broken. Mandy plays well with all sizes of dogs and also is very sweet around the four cats in the home. She is intrigued by the horses outside but keeps a respectful distance. Because she enjoys the company of other dogs she would do well at a dog park or another dog in the house. She has not been around children in her foster home but they can’t imagine that she wouldn’t be anything but wonderful and gentle around them. Mandy really looks to have a strong bond with her person. She basks in love and attention but is not demanding or clingy. Her sweet disposition and big floppy ears are sure to steal the right person’s heart.

Queenie is a 50 lb. spayed female Retriever/Collie/Spaniel/Hound mix.She loves car rides and walks nicely on leash. She's laid back and calm, a perfect dog. She is available on 8/9/14. Queenie and Wally came from TN, they were dumped at a dog park one night and the next morning were still there. They were taken to a place that they would be safe while they waited for a loving home. Sadly that didn't happen for them, no fault of Wally and Queenie, just so many dogs in the south looking for homes, so Save a dog is stepping up for them and will of course find their perfect family. They are both sweet, but a bit overweight from getting no exercise and being fed a corn-laden diet. Save a dog will have them on a healthy weight loss program and provide plenty of exercise. The life of these dogs has now changed for the better, they couldn't be in more capable hands and now just need the perfect family. The transporter writes, "They are really quiet dogs who did not make a peep during their long "freedom voyage" to Save A Dog. I hope someone sees what great dogs they are and adopts them. Reggie, 7-8 months Male Flat-coat Retriever / Shepherd

Reggie is a sweet gentle young 7-8 mo. old Black German Shepard mix. He was pulled from a high kill shelter in Tennessee. Because of over crowding in this shelter, dogs are only kept for 2-3 days. Reggie was saved just in the knick of time. Reggie will sit on command and shakes, loves walks, is housebroken with a dog door, loves water, loves people, rides in the car ( sort of ), has learned to stay down, but because he is still a puppy he sometimes forgets and needs to be reminded. His favorite thing in the world is the 6 puppies that he is in foster with. He will lay on the ground and let them crawl all over him and chew on him. He is very gentle with them, but still needs supervision. Reggie has so much potential that with the right training and love, he will be a joy to his forever family! He is seen here playing with Mandy's five week old pups who are coming up in a few weeks. He is available 8/9/14. (He was neutered, but he is cryptorchid so will have to be neutered when his body is ready.)

Tootie is the sweetest little dog. I was at the shelter to pick up other dogs and she was so cute that I could not pass her up. She is a 17 lbs, black Dachshund mix. One vet said she was 3 and another vet thought closer to 9, but she sure has a lot of energy for a 9 year old if that's the case. We think maybe 6 or 7 and that she's had a rough life. She is already spayed. She walks on a leash and loves people. She gets along with other dogs but can be a bit bossy. She is not cat tested. Tootie is good on leash but is still learning crate training. She will jump right into the car and steal the drivers seat right away. Tootie loves to look out the window and let her ears blow in the wind. She is housebroken with a doggie door. Tootie will steal your heart!

She also met children at the vets office and loved them. We have not cat tested her. She is house trained with a dog door. She also loves walking on leash. Her foster mom says: She is a very sweet dog. I think she is continuing to adjust to being in my house. She has shown interest in playing with toys (not quite fetch but close), is learning about crate time, walks well on leash, loves meeting people and kids, has been quiet in the house, has been introduced to many dogs (does better when they give her space as opposed to being overbearing) and loves napping under any table or chair she can find. She is not a fan of the car right now but we are working on that.
