Anastasia, 3 years, 10 months Female Lab/Basset
Mix
|
|
Adopted
Anastasia is a Black Lab/Bassett mix who recently lost her home when the family business failed and they they had to move in with relative that couldn't take dogs. Asia, as she's called (also Si Si) has lived with other dogs and was at one time "joined at the hip" with a Border Collie. She loves to swim and is very comfortable in the water. She would walk off leash with her former owner and would stay on the trail. Her Date of Birth is 8/3/08. She was spayed at approx. 6 mos. old. She lived with a young man in her first home who trained her and took her every where. She is house broken too. She has lived with extended families including grand parents and young ones. She was not wild about the toddlers, (so grown children would be best), but loved the adults and seniors and all the dogs. She knows come, sit, stay, etc. She has lived with large dogs and small dogs. She's not fond of large male dogs when she first meets them. She will be available after her health exam the week of 7/2/12. We have a strong application for her, but will take back up applications as well. Please fill out an application if you're interested in meeting her.

Annie, 4 months Female Beagle / Dachshund
Mix
|
|
Adopted
Annie is a 4 mo. old who looks like the world's tiniest Beagle. She's a Beagle/Dachshund mix, hence the tiny size: she weighs 6.5 lbs. and is a real sweetheart. Don't little her little size fool you as she hangs out with 5 other bigger puppies and really holds her own. No one steals her treats or messes with her. She loves to play, but has no trouble letting the bigger pups know that she has had enough. She loves to hang out in the 2 acre yard and dig, chew on sticks, chase bugs, and run and play. At the end of the day she is looking for a lap to cuddle on and sleep with. She loves to sleep with humans at night, but she wakes up early and then goes into her crate so her human can get a couple of hours more sleep. Her best buddie is Spencer -- they play together, sleep together and eat together. They don't like to share their special treats. Annie rides in the car very well -- she will lay and sleep on the passenger seat. She walks on a leash very well and loves her little walks. She is tiny and sweet, needs a loving, gentle home. She is available 7/21.

Austin is a 3 1/2 month old Lab mix who has some Spaniel or Collie in there, possibly with a touch of hound, we're not sure. He is a playful and delightful pup who needs a home. He was picked up, after being dumped by a river in TN and brought to a rural shelter with his brother Dallas. He was covered in fleas and ticks, but is happy and healthy now. He has been having fun in his foster home with his brother and two other dogs and three cats. He does very well with the cats, but should be monitored since he is still a puppy and can forget his manners. He sleeps in a crate, is learing to walk on a leash, rides quietly in a car and does well with children. His foster Mom has a dog door and has been working on his house training which he is doing very well at. Austin is a very sweet dog who is fine playing by himself in the yard, but does love other dogs. He would love to find a forever family who could teach him tricks and rub his belly. Available 7/21.

Cooper, 4 years Male Mini Australian Shepherd

Adopted
Cooper is a sweet, quiet 4 year old neutered male Mini Australian Shepherd who was given up by his family because he had strong herding instincts and apparently became nippy with the children, so no kids just in case. Other than that he is the perfect dog, so well mannered in every way and very quiet. He is a really smart dog who knows his own crate at the boarding kennel where he stayed after his rescue. He is only 23 lbs. and is beyond cute. He is good with dogs and cats. He was bounced around in different homes before he came to Save A Dog, so we want to make sure we make the right match for him. Positive training is a must for this sensitive little breed. He is ready for his new home and has had all his vaccines and neutering. Also, he had a recent dental cleaning. He is very well behaved and great on leash. He was on leash for a whole afternoon one day during our meet-and-greet and quietly stood by his foster mom's side while she weeded the garden. He would be a nice companion for a quiet home. He is available now. Please fill out an application or let us know you are coming so we can have him here as he's in a foster home.

Adopted
Honey is a ~ 1 yr old beautful honey colored spayed female mixed breed dog. She weighs around 23 lbs. She is very sweet and so happy. She is a fun-loving little girl, loves to play, walks well on a leash, rides well in the car once she's in (a little hesitant getting in the car). She is house trained and loves people. She is crate trained, is a little submissive when she meets new people, but warms up quickly. She loves shoes. Her foster finds her shoes turning up in interesting places, but they are never chewed on. She is good with cats. Lived with one for 3 months and never paid it any attention even when it jumped on her face. Has lived with 8 other dogs and gets along with all of them, her best play buddy was a 10 lb. Corgi mix, they would play constantly. She likes to collect everything, toys and treats should be hers. She will collect them and then watch over her treasures. Honey was found living around an abandoned house, surviving on her own for at least 6 months, it took her rescuer months to catch her as she did not trust humans. Finally they were able to catch her. The funny thing is, once she was taken to her rescuer's home, bathed and fed, she acted like she had lived there all her life. Two days later she had a litter of puppies. A few days after giving birth she stopped eating so was producing very little milk for her pups, so foster mom had to supplement the pups' feedings. She was taken to the vet and found she had an infected uterus. She was treated for that and after a couple of weeks started eating and producing enough milk again to take care of her pups herself. Everything went well for Honey for a time, she weaned her puppies herself. She was spayed after her milk had dried up and then she suffered another set back, all of her stitches had pulled out and she needed emergency surgery to save her life. She is now recovering nicely. She is available now. Please fill out an online application if you would like to meet her!

Olivia is one of Honey's pups. Olivia is 10 lbs. and is 3 months old. She is a spunky little girl. All 3 of these puppies have big dog temperaments. They are calm and mellow, and quiet. They will sit and watch you while you work. They love to play and get into trouble, but they are very calm for puppies. They have been in foster care since birth and they have been handled since day one. They have never been hit, never mistreated, so they trust and love people!
Olivia, being the only girl, always hung out with mom in the yard chasing squirrels and playing with mom all day, and had to stand up to her brothers rough playing in the yard. She is sweet but feisty and has no problem sticking up for herself. She seems to be the boss of her brothers, and if they are in trouble it was probably Olivia's idea! She has a big dog temperament just like her brothers, very calm and mellow for puppies. Olivia is lover of people but is not a lovey dovey "in your face" personality. She will walk on a leash, but still needs a little coaxing, she is not fond of the idea of being led around by a leash. Olivia will come running when called, she gets rewarded with a treat for coming. In their foster home, they have 2 acres that they play on and they learned to come when the dinner call came. Olivia is also housebroken, uses a dog door, is in and out all day. Olivia and her siblings all love fruit, watermelon, cantalope, bananas and tomatoes.

Spencer is the coolest dog. He's about a year old, still has a lot of puppy in him, but is house trained so that part is done. He is a very well socialized pup who gets along great with all dogs, from the smallest to the biggest. He would be a great dog for the dog park. He's medium-sized, around 48 lbs and is already neutered. He seems to be a Collie / Australian Shepherd mix. He is beautiful young dog whose pictures don't do him justice. All Spencer wants to do is be with people and dog friends. He is playful with all the foster dogs big and small. He is quite well behaved -- he will not jump up on you. We would love to see him go to a family where he can be a central part of the family as he likes to be in the middle of everything. He's also great in the car so you can take him anywhere with you. His foster mom gives him the Sit command before setting his food bowl down. He also loves to swim in the river at foster mom's. He is quiet in his crate, sleeps all night without creating a fuss. He walks pretty well on leash. He never has any accidents in the house, no leg lifting either. He knows how to use a doggie door. He has a great appetite and is learning to be good with foster mom's cats. Spencer can climb a fence so is not a dog to be stuck outside alone. Spencer's story: Spencer showed up at a woman's house and she did not keep him in a safe place so he was out running in her neighborhood and was attacked by 3 dogs and had to go to the vet to be have his wounds cleaned (he still has some shave marks from where they shaved him. He was subsequently surrendered to rescue. If you are interested in Spencer, please fill out the application as he's in a foster home and we can arrange for you to meet him.

Adopted
Spencer is a ~ 1 year old male Lab/Irish Setter mixed breed. He weighs around 24 lbs. He is very, very sweet. He gets along with all dogs at his foster home, but loves people the best, he closes his eyes while being petted like he thinks he is dreaming. He has had no accidents at his foster's home and uses the dog door. Spencer is very good, not mouthy or jumpy. He was picked up by animal control in TN. He was adopted but the people (which is why he is neutered already) did not want him after all, and never came back for him. So lucky for him, he will get to find a new family that will really love him, and he will return that love a thousand times over. His foster mom says: I picked up Spencer from the local Animal Shelter. He was so sweet and well behaved, I could not resist him. He loves to be pet and have his neck and ears scratched. He will put his head back, close his eyes and just enjoy the attention. Spencer seems to like people more than dogs. When all the dogs are out playing, he will be laying in the house watching me. He does go out and play at times, but not as much as the other dogs do.Spencer is a very mellow quiet and gentle dog. I think one other dog for him to be a buddy with would be fine for him. He sleeps in the house every night, he has had one potty accident in 2 weeks. Uses the doggy door, walks on a leash, loves his walks. Rides in the car, he will try and climb in the car. Some dogs seem to make him nervous, he will bark and growl at certain dogs, I have never seen him act aggressive, it is all show. He eats out of the same pan along with 6 other puppies and he is fine, he does not want to share his treats though. The puppies climb all over him and he just lays there and lets them bite him.He has not been around cats or children, but he is a pup so might be just fine. We'll leave that up to the Save A Dog adoption counselors. He is available around the end of July.

Tessa recently raised 5 beautiful healthy puppies and is now looking for her chance to be the center of attention. Tessa will lay down on her back when she thinks you are going to pick her up. She is very submissive. Tessa was abandoned at someone's home in the country. The people there intended to take her to the shelter but her foster mom intervened because she was very pregnant at the time and would have been put to sleep at the shelter. She will give back in abundance all that she receives. She weighs 24 lbs. She will be available after her spay and we may already have a home for her with one of our co-pilots. If you'd like to be considered as a back up for her, please fill out an application if you are interested and we will invite you to come meet her.

Tinker Toy is so cute, she's like a little toy, hence the name. When she's excited she jumps up and down like a spring. She loves to play, loves other puppies, loves toys, and is just a bundle of joy. She wants a family of her own, so please be that one and fill out an application to get a jump on this cute little girl. She is spayed and had a separate surgery for hernia repair, so could use some sponsors to help cover her costs. She's all healed up and ready for adoption. Please fill out an application and then come to one of our Meet-and-Greet events at our shelter. Please check our Web site for shelter hours.
