She has been great with the kids... rolls over & loves her belly rubbed. She walks great on a leash & is getting better at remaining calm on the walk She and her foster mom even went for a jog this evening and did well. No more whining when she leaves & she settles nicely in her crate. She has gone to the dog park a few times and has warmed up to the other dogs, still a bit timid around new people, but did cautiously go up to a few people at the park. The playfullness is starting to come out, the more comfortable she gets. She is still shy but will come over, head a bit low & offer her paw to say "HI" & "PET ME PLEASE". Angelica, 10 weeks Female Terrier  Mix Click on picture to enlarge Adopted Angelica is our precious special needs puppy. Unfortunately her mama is a chained to a box dog and when Angelica was three days old, the chain became wrapped around her back leg and amputated her foot. The owners never took her to a vet, leaving mama to nurse her to health. Despite what she went through, Angelica is a firecracker! She loves to run around the house and wrestle with her puppy siblings, all of whom are at least twice her size. She adores dogs of all sizes and would probably miss not having another dog to play with. Having weighed only 3 pounds at 9 weeks of age, we expect that she is going to be quite small. Angelica will need to be evaluated for chiropractic treatment as well as a possible prosthetic; she will need follow-up care after adoption. We are looking for a special home for Angelica, one who can take care of her ongoing needs. She gets along fine and doesn't let you know she has a disability. She is 99% house trained, loves her toys, loves other dogs, loves kongs, loves people and kids, and loves to hang out with her people. When she was 6-8 wks old, she was found as a stray puppy and taken in by a family who then asked rescue to take her. He seems to be a mutt mutt, but probably has some pointer, some lab, a little of a few other breeds. He came right up to the rescuer and sat down for her to pet him. He is good with other dogs and plays with the family cat. The guy said Henry and the cat roll and tumble and play like two dogs. He showed up at their house last Memorial day and stayed. They are moving out west and taking the two border collies they adopted from a shelter. They want to find a good home for Henry. They are very nice and have taken good care of Henry. Henry will be good for a family with kids. He will love the time and attention. He loves to sleep in a dog bed covered by a blanket when the weather is cold! He is trained to an electric (underground) fence. Henry is neutered and utd on shots. They think he is around 1-2 yrs old. He is playful and very friendly. They said he is good with their dogs, good with their cat and very loving with people. He comes in to the garage through a dog door and never messes up in the garage. Jinger, 2-3 years Female Dachshund Click on picture to enlarge Adopted Jinger is a red Dachshund who weighs 9 lbs. She is young maybe around 2-3 years old, acts like a puppy running around playing with toys, but has had several litters so is not a puppy. She loves to get under the covers, even if you put a blanket in her crate or on the couch, she will bury herself underneath. She is a very devoted dog and desperate for her own person. She attaches herself to anyone who pays attention to her. She was adopted, but was returned as she and the resident female dachshund were not getting along. It's so heartbreaking, but we have faith that the right home will be found where Jinger can flourish and blossom. She was not raised with kids and can be nippy if picked up wrong so an adult home would be preferred or someone who knows the breed. She might have to be an only dog. She was rescued with a lot of other little dogs when she was dumped at animal control in rural TN during a frigid winter afternoon. The temp was dropping to single digits that night with no shelter for warmth. That night, she and Dora would never have made it through the night. We've brought her this far, now she just needs the right home. She's not a bad dog, but has just been through a lot. She would be a great little pal for someone. Available now. He will roll over on his back and let her pin him down while play fighting and snuggles up to her when she tires out before the other pups. Santino is very smart and definitely the boss of the group. He was found as a TN stray and they called asking our rescue partner to take him. He is around 1 yr old, neutered and vaccinated. He is friendly with people and dogs. He is EXTREMELY good natured, puts up with a lot from the puppies. Check out Lydia's video, how she is knawing on his feet and he takes it. What a great dog. He is okay on leash, good in the car, wants to play, play, play! He needs an active lifestyle and some basic training and he will be a great dog for someone. He is around 40-45#. Slade, 3 years Male Colllie/Golden/Shepherd  Mix Click on picture to enlarge Adopted Slade is a 3 year old neutered male Golden/Shepherd/Collie mix. He is a nice dog. He is fine with the three aussie pups and that is saying a lot for him! He is playful, but will stand still for a long time while you pet him. He is great in the car, fine on leash. We don't know how he is with cats, but seem fine with other dogs and new people. Slade was at the high kill shelter...picked up as a stray. The shelter workers and volunteers fell in love with him. They kept him WAY past his time because he is such a sweet dog. They said he loves to play and is just a goof ball. He was in with several other dogs during his stay and they said he got along with males (neutered and intact) and females. He was always friendly with strangers and loved all the attention he could get. He is a BIG time ball chaser and will throw his toys around in the back yard, entertaining himself. Tinkerbell, ~1 year Female Italian Greyhound  Mix   Click on picture to enlarge Adopted Tink is a 6 lb little lap dog who loves to be held. She is an adorable Italian Greyhound mix who is just about the most affectionate dog you will ever meet. She loves to sleep under the covers and will stay there all night. If she has a chewy she will play with it, then chew on it, and then go to sleep. If you put any type of blanket by her she will nuzzle into it. She loves to be warm. She has many outfits donated by the volunteers. She loves to ride in the car, but she shakes at the vet like any small dog would. She has no bad habits, is not a chewer other than on her own chewies. She looks big in the picture, but she is actually very tiny. She is housetrained and uses the doggy door to go out. She is precious! She loves attention. to be held, has learned to sit, loves to give kisses, and fetches (brings the toy back and loves to go after it again!) Tinkerbell can climb a chain link fence (this is an IG trait) so she must be supervised when outside. History: she was dumped at a city run shelter in rural TN during the dead of winter. There was no heat and she would have frozen to death were it not for a rescue angel who took her in, fed her, and vetted her. Tink gets very attached to her people and would be wonderful for a stay at home. She's a snuggle bunny. Tinkerbell will make someone a terrific companion in a small, carry-along size! Vito, 10 weeks Male Doxie/beagle/terrier  Mix Click on picture to enlarge Adopted Vito is from a litter of pups who are very petite. We don't know how big they'll be, but not very. Vito is a little Velcro puppy; he’s a tiny bit shy in new situations and will snuggle close to his foster mom. Taking his photo was a challenge because he wanted to stay close and his foster mom took lots of pictures of his face close-up to the camera. Of all his litter mates, he has the softest mouth; he never bites hard even though he was teething. Very sweet puppy! Available after 4/15/09.
