Hi! I am a girl in a litter of puppies from Tennessee. We like to run and play, chase balls, chew on your fingers or anything else we can. We are friendly pups and everyone says we're cute, cute, cute! We've been with kids ages 8 to 12 and we like the attention. Our mom is a black Lab. She's so nice. Please don't call Save A Dog yet because we're arriving 9/29 and will have to wait a few days for our vet appointment, then you can meet us on 10/1. You can fill out an application on the Web site under Apply to Adopt and that will help speed the process when we're available.

Hi! My name is Ashley and I am an adorable 22 lb. 5 month old Lab mix puppy. I love to play and I am doing great on house training. Just throw a ball and I am off to catch it. I love to cuddle and sit in your lap, but also love to run and play with my friends. There are five of us girls and two boys. We are very good puppies. We like to play with each other and play with toys. Our mom looks like a small yellow lab and dad looks like a black lab with short legs, possibly with some Basset as his legs are a little crooked. Some of my siblings have short legs and some are tall, like me. We all need homes, separately of course. Because we are puppies and will go through several wonderful growing stages, families with children 7 and above please. Please fill out the application first if you can so the Save A Dog staff can print it out when you come in to meet us. We are available now.

Adopted

Would someone adopt these two wonderful dogs? We have them and they are really nice dogs. Buddy and Tyson have lost their home due to a divorce. They are now with us and ready to be met. They are a great pair and get along really well. Here's their info, as written by the owner: Buddy is the black one and he is 5 years old, good health up to date on all shots. Lab/Collie mix, possibly with some Shepherd. He is approx 80 lbs and does well off leash. He is good with other dogs and tolerates cats. As far as children he is fine as long as he has time to get used to them. He is the bigger of the two and also the biggest baby, he loves to snuggle and be the center of attention. He sometimes forgets that he is not a lap dog! Tyson is the tan one and is about 70 lbs also 5 years. He is what is called a "Carolina Dog". Tyson is a dream, he is laid back to the max, loves kids and people and is also up to date on his shots and the like. The only thing with Tyson is that even though he passed obedience training with flying colors he has yet to listen when off leash, on leash again he is a dream and listen attentively. If trained with the right person Tyson would be fine off-leash. He is extremely intelligent. They are both housebroken and neutered.` Owner will provide crates that are x-large so that they can sleep in them if needed though currently they do not sleep in the crates. She says "I have been around a lot of dogs in my time (as I worked as a vet tech for many years) and these two are wonderful together, they are each others best friend. Buddy seems lost without Tyson, however Tyson can take or leave Buddy it seems, however I know that Tyson like the company. They require a walk daily, unless there is a fenced in area for them to run.As with most dogs a fenced in yard would be ideal." Please apply on our web site as the dogs are available to be seen..

Adopted

I am a 2 year old, VERY friendly, spayed and microchipped Black Labrador mix and I am in a foster home. I am crate trained and love it because I get a nice bone to chew on when the foster family is gone. I have been working with a trainer because I get a bit nervous when dogs are walking right at me. With a distraction, I am easily redirected (of course great treats help). I walk great when walking side-by-side with another dog and I love to play with dogs (I know) when I am off leash. I have been working with a trainer and within minutes, was doing what was asked of me (on a leash). I LOVE to go for walks or hikes. I love to sniff around and experience the world. I weigh 65 lbs and may be very interested in playing with cats.....we would not be a good fit for each other. My foster mom in Massachusetts says I am one of the easiest fosters she has ever had. Save A Dog Note: Before coming into rescue she was very loved by a family in Indiana. Please fill out an application so that we can be in touch about Carley as she is in a foster home and we want to make sure she is available to meet you.

Update: We raised part of the money for Dallas, but his medical bills are $798, not counting other expenses. Dallas needs sponsors for his heart worm treatment ASAP so that he can be treated and then might have a chance at a new life in dog-friendly New England. He is a 50# golden mix. The vet says he is 3-4 yrs old, but he looks older in this picture, possibly because of the heart worms. He is a super sweet dog ...both with people and other dogs. He is good in the car, on leash, at the vet's office, at the groomer's. He licked the groomer the whole time she was bathing and brushing him. He loves to give you his paw and to be petted. You could not ask for a sweeter dog. Dallas' story is: He showed up as a stray in rural TN and some people kept him for a month trying to find his owner. He is here with us now and is an awesome dog. Once he gets daily brushings, he is going to be one gorgeous dog!

Elvis is a Collie mix who came from rural TN. He is very friendly with strangers. His owner abandoned him and 20 other dogs when her husband was arrested on drug charges! She was a back yard breeder and had lots of dogs. A neighbor learned of the abandoned dogs and asked for help finding homes for them. Elvis will be arriving around 9/29 and will be quarantined according to state regulations and then vetted on 10/1 and can be seen afterwards. Our process is that you fill out an application first and we will be in contact with you. As we have a foster program, some of our dogs are in foster care and may not be here if you just drop in. When you come to meet a dog, it is best that you bring all decision makers as we are not in a position to hold dogs or to give multiple showings to one party. We are a volunteer-based organization with limited staff, so please help us to work more efficiently so that more lives can be saved in a timely manner. Georgie
Georgie

Adopted

Georgie is approx. 2.5 yrs. old and weighs about 25 lbs. We're not sure what breeds he is but he is super cute! He is a small dog who loves company. He is used to be at home with someone so we're not sure he is a dog to leave alone in the house all day. He does well at doggie daycare although can be picky about his friends. Like many small dogs he has his quirks like barking at the door when guests come and sometimes barking at them when they get up to leave, but he's overall a great dog and we feel his traits can vanish with training. He's been with adults for the past year and was with the 92 year old mother during the day so we wonder if he was just being protective of her. He's a perfect size for boating or riding in the car. He's lightweight, but athletic enough to enjoy hiking or walking. He's generally friendly and a joyful dog. He knows sit, stay, down and a few others. He needs practice at being in a long sit/stay or down/stay, and gradually adding a doorbell as a queue so that he won't run for the door. Clicker training is the best way to train this behavior and he is treat-motivated so for the right person he's going to be a delight. There isn't an aggressive bone in his body. Please apply online as he will probably be in a foster home by the time you read this and we'll need to review your application first and then bring him here for you to meet.

Gracie is a gorgeous young Dobie girl who was turned in by her owner when she was moving. She said she is a purebred doberman....just never had her tail and ears docked. She is 7-10 mo old, spayed, good in the car, good with strangers, seems good with other dogs (in a foster home now and doing fine with her crew), loves attention, has been around kids as young as 2 yrs of age. The former owner said she was good with her chihuahua. She will jump up for attention, not mouthy or very nervous…..a little shy in new situations at first. Okay on leash, good in the car and indoors. Ideal adopter and home environment: someone who will give her time and attention. She doesn’t like being outdoors for long periods by herself. Her previous owner kept her outside and she begged to come inside. She deserves better. She is available as of October 1st. Our process is that you fill out an application and we will be in touch with you once she is available.

Greer is a beautiful female (spayed) Blue Merle Collie mix who is looking for a home. She loves hikes, walks and being in the sunshine. She may even like to do agility. We have told her Massachusetts has some beautiful hikes, particularly in the fall. She is playful, loving and gets along with all dogs and horses, but not cats. She has shown aggression with cats/kittens so will need to be trained on "leave it" and "drop it". She loves toys (will collect them in the house) and frolicking yet can settle down nicely and loves belly rubs. She is fostered with two male dogs and loves to engage them. She is great with kids, but teens or tweens would be fabulous for this playful dog or an adult home where babies are not in the near future (so there is enough time to provide exericse). She LOVES to ride in the car, loves her crate and goes in willingly. She is well on her way to being housetrained. Please apply on our Web site to express your interest as she is a beautiful girl. Her foster mom is in W. Roxbury, so you need to send in your application and make an appointment to meet her. Meeting hours are flexible.

Maggie is a gorgeous 11 month old Golden Retriever who is looking for her new forever home. She loves kids, loves chasing a ball, and loves to play, play, play. She needs a family who will give her a lot of attention so first preference is to stay-at-home families, so if you work full time, she is not for you. She's not a doggy daycare dog so much because she just loves people and kind of ignores other dogs. Older kids are better, but she is good with the little ones too. It's more a matter of making sure she gets enough exercise and training. Parents of families with children need to make the commitment to this young dog's own training and one on one time. A holistic protocol will ensure a long happy life for her as she is purebred and Golden Retrievers, as a breed, are prone to cancer. If you're willing to feed the raw diet or at least a top quality food with appropriate supplements and willing to minimize the conventional medicine approach, she should live out her years in good health. Update: Max got adopted, but is coming back because he has a prey drive with cats and cars. He is working with a trainer, but a home without cats or small animals is best. Max is a big friendly dog. He is a 2-3 year old Golden Retriever mixed breed male who needs a great home. He didn't have a great life back in TN, spending most of his time chained outside, but he was rescued, treated for heart worms and now has a clean bill of health and wants to go to his new family. Max is a wonderful dog. He never sees a stranger and is good with other dogs. He's just big so would be a great pal for Lab-sized dogs, although he will play with puppies and children. Probably larger kids like tweens and teens would be best for him. He loves his daily walks (he is getting really used to them while at our shelter and loves to go out and experience the sights and sounds of Sudbury) and loves chasing a ball or frisbee. He is about 75#, golden color and looks like a Golden Retriever with short hair and some feathering. He is current on rabies vac, and neg. fecal. Please apply online to speed the process. He is available now!

Hi! My name is Tabitha and I am an adorable 20 lb. 5 month old Lab mix puppy. I love to play and I am doing great on house training. Just throw a ball and I am off to catch it. I love to cuddle and sit in your lab, but also love to run and play with my friends. Please fill out the application first if you can so the Save A Dog staff can print it out when we come in to meet us. We are available now.
