Adopted

Baron is a nice calm neutered male Wire-haired Fox Terrier mix who is looking for his forever home. He is around 18 months old and weighs around 20 lbs. Baron came from the same owner as Army, Carly, Scruffy, and Albie so we think he is related. He has a Heart Murmur, grade 2 out of 6, which is typically a minor murmur. He's a little shy in new situations, but once he knows you he jumps all over you. He's playful and cute and plays nice with the other smaller dogs he came in with. If you fill out the online application, it speeds the adoption process and helps our adoption counselors to get to know you a little bit before you come in to the shelter to meet a dog. We try to make the right match for both dog and human. If you have them, please bring pictures of your residence and pictures of your last dog (if applicable) so that we can get a sense of you and your family and help you make the best match for both you and the dog.

Adopted

Boo is a 30 lb Basenji mix. He is really a sweet and lovable fellow. He was pulled from a pound and was fostered with 4 Boston Terriers befre traveling to Save A Dog. He's a smart dog. After his neuter surgery, his foster mom put an ice pack down in front of the fire place and he went over and sat on it. He loves to give kisses even to the other dogs. He knows sit and he seems to know the down command. He lets us know when he needs to go out at night. He does lay down and roll on his side or back when a voice is raised but he doesn't seem frightened, just submissive. If he's lying down his tail continues to wag! He just plain loves to be with everyone and every canine. Boo is now in a foster home and doing great. He is totally crate trained, housetrained, loves all people, and loves to play with other dogs. He is very active and would benefit from a fenced in yard. Pllease fill out an application if you would like to meet him.

Adopted

Daisey is an adorable ~ 5 month old female (spayed) puppy. It says Beagle on her paperwork, but we don't see as much Beagle as Collie/Dalmatian/Lab. She is a joyful pup who just wants to play, play, play, but she's also very good in the house and good in the crate. She was a rescue from a shelter in TN and adopted in MA. However, the adopter's older dog didn't take too kindly to a younger sbling, so she is with Save A Dog in a foster home and having a ball playing with another female dog who likes to play. She's already used to the gentle leader and does well on a long lead for romps in the fields where she meets other dogs to play with. There's not a dog or person she doesn't like. Daisey was vetted and spayed by the shelter in TN before being transported. She is crate-trained, and is almost completey house trained as well (you do need to take her out often, as she is still quite young!). She already knows to sit, and loves toys; the chewier and squeakier the better! She is a very smart puppy, and would do great at having a "job". She would do great in a family with school-aged kids (little ones may scare her), and she loves playing outside in the yard. She is unusually quiet and only barks to alert when someone comes to the door or yard. Will you be the lucky family who adopts this pup? If so, please fill out an application online and we will arrange for you to meet her. She is available now.

She will blossom in your home. She has low expectations as she wasn't somebody's princess, at least not yet. She will arrive on 2/15/12 and be available after her vet appointment on 2/17.   Frankie, 14 months Male Pug  Mix
Frankie

Adopted

Frankie is an adorable 14 month old male Pug mix. He has a serious face, but is quite a nice, mellow dog. Frankie spells fun. He enjoys a good romp but is always ready for a snuggle. He's quiet and calm in his crate and is fully housebroken- no accidents. He's been doing well on a leash on our walks. A very sweet guy! His favorite things so far are belly rubs and squeak toys. He weighs 35 lbs and has a thick coat, so is bigger than your average Pug. We're guessing Aussie, but it's only a guess based on the coat. He's learning to walk on leash. Update from Frankie's foster: "Although Frankie was a little nervous on the car ride home, he quickly became acclimated to the house and yard. He enjoys running around the yard, and I also walked him short distances on the leash on our street, and he handled that well. He plays with his toys and is very affectionate." Frankie can be afraid of men when he first meets them but if given time and space, he warms up quickly. His foster dad kept his distance for an hour or two when first introduced and Frankie stayed crated. When he came out of his crate, he let his foster dad pet him, and they became fast friends. Since he is a little shy, we think he may need a fenced in yard for safety reasons. He did not pay any attention to the cats that roamed free at the kennel where he was boarded prior to coming to Save A Dog. Please fill out an application online if you are interested in meeting him. We prefer an application ahead of time and it speeds the process for you as well because online applications go out to our team whereas the ones filled out in the Lobby are not as easy for our Adoption Counselors to access. Check our Web site for Meet-and-Greet hours, which are held at the shelter.

Kelly is a LOVE according to her foster mom. She was scared when she was at the shelter so she didn't show well, but in her foster home she is amazing. She's good with the two big Shepherds she's fostered with and plays and plays with them all day long. She is TOTALLY HOUSE BROKEN and she will sleep in her crate at night, although she'd rather be in your bed. She loves to play with toys that squeak and she's not too destructive so they will last a long time. She's good in the house. She doesn't get into your stuff other than an occasional kleenex, but if you tell her No she will listen. She would love to play with the cats, but she is obedient to her foster mom and leaves them be. She will bark when people first come in the house, but if you give her a minute, she is all over you. She loves to sleep on her foster Dad's chest. She equally likes men and women. As to her breed, we're not sure. She has a naturally bobbed tail like an Australian Shepherd or Corgi, but she has normal size legs for a small/medium dog. She's a real mutt and a real doll too. She's super fast chasing toys/balls in the yard. Perhaps she'd make a good agility dog. She loves to play with dogs. She has a lot of puppy in her for a 2-yr old. When excited she can be jumpy and a little mouthy but will stop immediately when told. Smart girl!! Please fill out an application online to speed the process, or if you already have an application with us, just send us an email to express your interest in her and we will get back to you within a few days.

Kingston is a little one year old adorable little dog. We were told he is a Pug/Shih Tzu mix, but he looks like an Affenpinscher, so if you like that look you might want to check him out. It doesn't get any cuter than this little guy. He is a very lively little boy, but with his size it shouldn't matter except that he might be too much for little kids. He weighs around 14 lbs. He doesn't want to ride in the passenger seat, but on your lap, standing up, so he can help you drive, ;-). A car harness or vari-kennel is a must for this curious little dog. He was very affectionate to the Vet's staff and eagerly gave lots of kisses to everyone. His date of birth is 02/13/11. Happy Birthday, Kingston. He was an owner surrender. Lulu is a sweet and docile 3 year old Siberian Husky whoo appears to be purebred. Her coat is sott and beautifully colored a light amber. Picuters do not do her justice at all and she was just spayed so is a bit under the weather in the picture of her in her crate. She likes her crate as long as the door is open and she can leave if she wants to. She is house trained and pretty well behaved in the house. She was rescued from a high volume shelter in TN where her time was almost up. She received her second health certificate on 1/31/12 and is now spayed (2/1) and ready to find a home of her own. She cannot go with cats as she will chase them. She is friendly to men and women alike. She loves pats, loves attention, and loves the outdoors. She will need a flexible household where someone is home. As she is young and still needs training, you would not want to leave her to have own devices. She would do best in a country or suburban setting and husky experience is desired as the breed has some quirkiness that might stress out your average dog owner. Please fill out our online application if you are interested and we can begin the adoption conversation. We like to meet the whole household when you come to meet our dogs for adoption. Molly is a two year old female Beagle/Basset mix (we call them "Bagels") who came to us from a local breeder. She was not cut out for field trial hunting, but would rather smell the roses or sit by the fire. She very gentle and very docile. She only vocalizes when she's not happy and that's when she's kenneled so we're working on her house training so she can go to a home where there is minimal crating. She's great with kids and seems gentle enough for little ones, although will need to be tested. We don't know how she is with cats, but given that she was a failed hunting dog we think she might ignore them (no guarantees, though). She recently spayed (1/26/12) so is still recovering, but you can come meet her by the weekend. She has beautiful coloring and will be the darling of someone's life. You can just tell.

Star is a 5 and a half year old spayed female long-haired Dachshund (purebred) who was turned in because her owners work long hours and are starting to travel more frequently. She was raised with a Labradoodle and got along fabulously with him. She weighs around 30 lbs, so she needs to lose some weight. She was on a corn-based diet so the weight should come off quickly with a grain-free food and some exercise. She's a sweet dog. Her tail never stops wagging and everyone is her best friend. She's a quiet dog, not a barker. She likes sleeping on the end of the bed or on the couch and she can be a lap dog. She can be the boss of the other dog dog (which is typical for female dogs ), but has been very sweet and submissive with dogs she's met at Save A Dog. She has never been exposed to cats. She can last all day in the house, but no more than 6 hours without being let out. She was raised with teens. She is trained on the invisible fence. She loves to chase a ball and never tires of playing fetch. She was groomed regularly and sometimes wears little bows in her hair. The groomer said she was easy to handle and has a warm personality. She has been kept up to date on vaccines with annual vet visits. She is not on any medications. She was raised with teenaged boys. Please apply online if you would like to meet her as the likelihood of her being in a foster home is high. She would be a great dog for someone with teens or for an adult household with a male dog as that would closely match her current enviornment. Adopted

Wally is a young ~ 2 yr old male Chinese Crested mix who was pulled from a high volume shelter in TN and brought up to MA to find a great home. He will be a wonderful little pal for someone. He's a great little guy and is very affectionate. He needs a good grooming when he gets here as well as neutering. He is a sweet dog and would do well in a quiet household, tweens and up, no small children. His availability will be after 2/18/12. Visiting hours are 12-3 Sat and Sun.
