Save A Dog - Dogs Adopted in June, 2011
Dogs Adopted in June, 2011 |
Ali, ~ 10 weeks Female Lab/Pom
Mix
Adopted
Ali, Bear and Phoebe are three precious fuzzy pups who were rescued when they were just weaned. The mama dog was something small. The owner said Rat Terrier, but the vet thinks they look like Poms. Anyway, something small, although Bear, the male is much larger than the females, so there could be a larger Dad. Whatever they are, they're mutts and adorable! They were on their way to a kill shelter when they were just 4 weeks old. They were intercepted by a "rescue angel" and raised until they were old enough for their first booster shots and then driven to us by the rescuer. They will play all day with each other. They were raised with cats and respectful of them. They are doing well on housetraining as long as given access to the outdoors often. Ali is the tan female pup; Phoebe is the black/white female; Bear is the black male pup. All three will go to different homes where they can receive all the attention and training they need. Please be someone who has time for them. They need adopters who have the time for a puppy, so please have your life in order (no big travel plans or moves or wedding or new baby in the future as these are often the things that disrupt a dog). Apply online only. No phone calls, please. We will have a lot of interest in this cute pups. Available after 6/13/11.

Buck, formerly Tags, ~ 10 years Male Lab
Mix
Adopted
Buck (recently renamed from Tags) is a VERY SWEET ten year old dog who was given up when his family moved. He appears to be a Lab mix and he still runs like a puppy. He was sweet with the owner's infant and is good with both cats and dogs. He deserves to live on someone's couch or going for long walks. He's a precious dog who was warmly welcomed by Save A Dog when we heard of his plight. One look at his sad face and we all fell in love. When we learned that he was eating cat food, we got worried and we ran blood work and low and behold, it came back great. He had some hair loss on his back and legs due to the poor diet, so we put him on the holistic diet with supplements and in no time his fur was growing in nicely. You won't recognize this "new dog" we have. He goes on long walks every day and runs around like a puppy! He would be great for a work-from-home adopter or a part time worker. He is great with kids, dogs, and cats, so he would be a great house dog. He does love those walks, though. He seems like a much younger dog now that we have him on the holistic protocol. We will provide a large bag of food, supplements, his bed, leash and soft toys to his adopter. Please be a loving, gentle adopter. He deserves the very best!

Dixie, ~ 9 months Female Dachshund / Whippet
Mix
Adopted
Hi there! My name is Dixie and I would love to play with you. I can fetch a ball AND bring it back to you. I'm in a foster home and I'm good with dogs and cats. I know how to ignore a cat, trust me. My foster mom says: Dixie is a very fun little dog - she loves being around people (follows us everywhere, wagging furiously) and has had a blast with my medium-sized dog and my in-laws' giant dog. We taught her how to sit, and I am confident that she would do it for her new adopter! She had one accident in the house on the very first day, but hasn't had an accident in the house OR in her crate since then! Please apply online as she will go quickly. She's a nice size, either for an apartment or condo or house. She walks nicely on leash.

Jake, 4 years Male Retriever/Collie
Mix
Adopted
Hi there! My name is Jake. I'm a 4 year old chocolate Lab mix. I recently lost my family when they moved into an apartment where dogs are not allowed. I am a nice size, about 40 lbs. I was raised with kids 9 and up and they adored me. Every day they would throw a ball for me. I come with my bed, my toys, and my 'chuck-it' toy for ball throwing. If you show me a tennis ball, I'll be your best friend! My mom says I am the most obedient and wonderful ham of a dog. I was trained as a pup and will perform all commands, including holding a treat on my nose until you say it's okay to eat it. My family doted on me and loved me very ,very much, so the people at Save A Dog want to make sure I get a family who has time for me. I am up to date on all my shots, am neutered, and very healthy. I love people and am considered "ball crazy" but I'm lovable and will be loyal to the end. I was not raised with other dogs or cats, so that would have to be explored. I will chase and retrieve a ball all day and never tire. Please apply online at the Save A Dog web site, http://www.saveadog.org/applytoadopt.asp .

Lady, 3-4 years Female Husky
Mix

Adopted
Lady is a 58 lb, medium-sized spayed female Husky mix who was a TN stray. She had her pups on 11/24/10. Arnie, Bennie, Carter, Parker, and Zach are males; Emily Rose, Jenny Lynn, Lola, and Punkin are the females and are almost all adopted. She was spayed on 1-14-11 and then it was discovered she was heart worm positive. She was treated and is now ready for a home of her own. She gained a few lbs during her confinement while undergoing the heart worm treatment, so needs to lose about five lbs. She will do that in the right home where she gets plenty of walks. She is doing really well in her foster home. She loves cuddling up next to you and giving kisses. She is doing well on walks, does not pull at all, and is not too bothered by cars although she walks in a quiet neighborhood. She is totally housebroken, is extremely quiet in the house but also enjoys romps in a fenced in yard. She is also perfect in the car and loves the noise of squeaky toys! Her favorite thing to do is snuggle. She hasn't been tested with indoor cats. Although she is extremely gentle with children, a quiet adult home is preferred as she is a very, very mellow dog, country-raised and a little shy in new situations or with loud noises. Please fill out an application if you are interested in meeting her. She is a beautiful, sweet dog.
