Adopted

Apple could tear your heart out with those sad eyes. It is like she is pleading to be rescued from her situation. She looks so sad. She is 4 years old and has been a house dog all her life but lost that home. Her foster mom says, She is "Easy, easy. She is definitely house trained, quiet, cuddly, much more wanting to snuggle with us than play with my other dog." She co-exists nicely with the big male dog in the house, but they are not at all interested in each other. She is good with cats. She is a medium size mixed breed and such a good girl. After we have spent assessment time with Apple we notice she is sensitive about touch so we think she would be best with older teens and up. Please give Apple a chance at a happy life that will bring the spark back into her beautiful eyes. She deserves so much more than what she has now. Please fill out our application at www.saveadog.org. She will only be at Sunday's Meet & Greet this weekend.

Benny is 2 yrs old and he loves to be with people. He is very good in a crate but does very well free inside the house with the family. Benny and his brother Sarge belonged to a man that had become terminally ill and could no longer care for him or Sarge. Sadly they ended up homeless. Benny had to be shaved but his coat is now growing in very nicely. Benny is going to make a wonderful addition to some lucky family. He loves people of all ages and is good with most dogs but not so good with cats or rabbits. He has been with his brother Sarge his entire life. His foster Mom feels he is ready to have his own family where he will get plenty of personal attention. We think kids 10 and up the best for these little ones. Benny is very sweet. He wants to be with you and enjoys lots of time outdoors when weather is nice. He wears a coat for extra warmth. He adores long walks. It's her time to have the good life as she has had such a hard life, but doesn't hold it against humans. She deserves a nice family and a yard to sniff around in. Caroline was scheduled to come up from WV last weekend, but it was learned she was heart worm positive, so she must wait due to USDA regulations. She underwent her first treatment on 2/9 and will be staying there until she gets her 2nd treatment and is tested again. Please help donate towards her boarding and post-treatment expenses. Click on picture to enlarge

Adopted

This is Dutch, a young and playful Shepherd/Dane mix. We thought he was older, but upon his vet exam it was discovered he is much younger, possibly 5 months old. He has large feet like a Dane, so he could be a very big boy! He brings his toys and drops them at your feet and he will chase a ball, but doesn't know how to bring it back. He is going through the jumpy/bouncy stage so teens and adults would be best for this friendly boy. He likes people and attention. He is a goofy one who loves to run, run, run, run, so a fenced yard would be nice. He is not neutered and we prefer a home that is willing to wait until he is developed as there are risks with neutering too young. A holistic-minded adopter is needed for this growing boy. Because of his size, we won't be placing him with small children. Please fill out our application at www.saveadog.org.

JAZZY FOUND A WONDERFUL HOME WITH HER FOSTER MOM ANDIS NOW CALLED COURTNEY! Jazzy is a 1 year old spayed Jack Russell Terrier Mix who came to Save A Dog from St Thomas. She is a little shy right now but she is opening up more each day. She is learning to love and trust without her mom Rosie. Jazzy has always been with another dog so a pal at home would be great for her to learn from. She just needs someone to give her that chance. She loves to play with other dogs. She would like a calm home and she does need a fenced yard to keep her safe. She is in a foster home, so private appointments only for Jazzy. Adult home only is preferred as loud noises and sudden movements will frighten this little girl. Please apply at www.saveadog.org. JAZZY WILL NOT BE AT OUR MEET & GREETS. UPDATE 1/31/15: Jazzy needs more time before she is ready for the real world. She is still very shy, but is at the point where she will sit in her foster Mom's lap or sleep in her bed, but Jazzy has to initiate it. Because of her shyness, we don't feel she is ready for a new adoptive home at this time unless it is with someone experience at rehabilitating dogs who missed their early socialization.

Adopted

Mimi is an adorable 1-2 year old small female mix who looks like a Shih Tzu / Border Terrier or Chinese Crested mix. She is very petite and at her full grown size she weighs barely five lbs. During her spay surgery they determined she has “stage-1” Heartworm, she is being treated homeopathically as is our protocol and have successfully treated other dogs using this method and it seems to work faster than the traditional methods. For this reason we are looking for a home near Sudbury. Mimi’s foster said she is now running and playing with her dogs (still a bit shy of people) but will curl up next to her and take a nap or play with her toys. She is a good eater and gets very excited when we come home - she bounces around doing playbows - so cute. Mimi is great with cats and dogs and goes outside with them and hasn't made a mistake in the house since the first week with us. We're hoping for a local adopter that is home much during the day. Mimi will be at our Saturdsy Meet & Greet only.

Pepper is a WONDERFUL two year old Boxer/Pointer mix who loves to run and play outside, but is a couch potato inside. She LOVES the snow! She will do best with a fenced in yard or with someone active to exercise her, but she settles nicely in the home. Pepper lived in a busy house with a lot of children coming and going and she became nervous with running young children, so she would do better with teens and adults. She had people home all day so she is accustomed to that, a home worker or split schedule would be great for her.We feel she would do best in an adult home. She does not like to be alone much so we would love to find a home with split schedule or someone who works from home to keep her company. She loves her people and toys and she already knows basic obedience commands. She still acts like a puppy so will need on going training. Her foster mom writes: Pepper is awesome. Such a love bug! She's a very well behaved dog in the home. Barks once or twice when someone is at door but settles right down. She's was very curious about the cat at first, but they have become good friends (this is a confident cat who doesn't run from dogs, however). She will be at Saturday's Meet & Greet. She loves squeakies and tennis balls and finds great joy in picking her toys out of the big toy box at the shelter. She will dig to the bottom to find just the right one. Then she'll toss it around and have a ball! She is a fun-filled dog and quite comical the way she plays. She is Corgi-sized, but is more like a big Jack Russell, so full of funny antics. She is house broken. She has been a house dog, not left to live outdoors. Socks minds well and is good on leash. She needs room to play as she is an energetic dog that loves people so a fenced yard would be ideal. She is good with cats but best as an only dog, but could live with some male dogs. She likes small male terriers at the shelter, but is intimidated by large female dogs. She's not a "dog park" dog. She was an owner surrender to a shelter. The family lost their home due to financial struggles. She misses being with a family so please make her a part of yours. She would be best with older kids. TRIXIE FOUND A WONDERFUL HOME! THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR SUPPORT. HER LATEST BLOOD WORK WAS PERFECT!! Original bio: Trixie is a very special girl who has been through a lot. She needs a quiet home to recover and be her beautiful senior self. She has 3 legs and came into a shelter giving birth to puppies who all died. Alone and mourning the loss of her pups, the fact that she was three-legged didn't help her to get out of the shelter. Living on donated food and the normal loss of coat with hormonal changes, she developed itchy skin and some hair loss. She continues to be itchy and is on a special diet and supplements to boost her immune system. We do want a stay or work from home situation for her. Her first love is to be with her person. Sweet Trixie is a tripod, missing her front right leg- she is a little older so she enjoys her rest but still is full of life. We have gotten to know her better and she is still gaining strength and we think the fewer stairs the better for her. She deserves a quiet home where she can be the queen of someone's world. As much as she is fine with kids she is not a girl who will play with them or go hiking and biking with someone. Trixie will be at our Meet & Greet Sunday 3/15/15.
