Angelina, 13 weeks Female Spaniel/Lab/Whippet  Mix Click on picture to enlarge Adopted Angelina is a 13 week old puppy who was left with her brother in a box by a gas station in TN when she was 4-5 weeks old, she was half starved and had a broken leg. The vet said because the leg had already started to heal, it would be best to leave it alone. Nobody wanted this puppy because of her little broken leg, it would drag behind her and slow her down but it never stopped her from doing the things she wanted to do, She would still play and try to follow all the other dogs, run up and down stairs and do what puppies do. Today she barely has a limp. For a young pup she has made a lot of progress in a short time. Angelina is very very playful, making up for lost time but she is not hyper, she loves other dogs and thinks they should all play games with her, when she is finished playing she loves to cuddle and nap, she is about 90% puppy pad trained, will tolerate a crate, and will go outside to go potty if given a chance. She is around cats and knows that they are not toys but have sharp claws. A lot of people have helped to give this little girl a chance at life, When she was hurt and sick she was literally a full time job, at first she had to be carried or held 24/7, but not now,she is a normal happy puppy. She was so lovely that the shelter workers called a dog rescuer to see if she could have a chance at being adopted. She will be available on December 5th. Midas, 14 weeks Male Retriever  Mix Click on picture to enlarge Adopted Midas is a 3 month old puppy who was advertised "free to a good home". He came from a family who got him for their kids. They had to move and did not take Midas with them. He seemed happy and healthy for two days, then was straining to urinate so was brought to an emergency clinic an hour away from the rescuer’s home. The clinic found that he had a stricture in his urethra and needed surgery. After his surgery he had to have a catheter in for 10 days and they said he would need close supervision during that time so he stayed at the hospital. The vet clinic was nice enough to give a discount for a medicated boarder rather than a hospitalized puppy, but even so, his medical bills came to over $1,100. If Midas had not had the surgery, he would have died. We are trying to help raise funds to pay for this puppy’s surgery. His foster mom/rescuer says: You have to promise to find the perfect, stay-at-home mom for Midas! He is the most precious pup I've fostered....so confident, sweet natured and holds eye contact as if he understands everything being said to him! Rayne, 3 years Female Jack Russell Click on picture to enlarge Adopted Rayne is a 3 year old female Jack Russell who recently underwent emergency bladder surgery to remove several bladder stones that threatened her life. When she was suffering her ordeal she never made a sound, never cried out or anything. She just looked to us with her big brown eyes and asked for help. At first we thought it was a simple bladder infection and treated it as such, but she got worse and worse. We took her to an emergency vet hospital and they took an exray and said despite the fact that there were 3 bladder stones, it was not an emergency and sent her home. But her eyes told us otherwise, and we called Dr. Roman from MASH who offered to do the surgery that day. Thank God she did as there was a hidden fourth bladder stone that was blocking her urethra and causing great pain by cutting into her. There is more to the story that we will save for the adopter of this precious small dog who suffered silently while pleading to us with her big brown eyes. This is one very special dog and whoever adopts her needs to be kind and compassionate and gentle, as Rayne deserves at least as much. She is a small dog who loves to cuddle and will show you more of her personality once she is recovered from her ordeal. We're looking for a few sponsors for this precious dog. Her favorite thing is to sleep by the door. She will let you know when she has to go out. She is good with cats and dogs. Her history: She showed up on a woman's property in April '05. She has lived with many other dogs and got along great with everyone. She has never shown any aggression to anyone. Now it's her turn to have a family of her own. The woman kept her for a few years but has been asking for help as she rescues many dogs and eventually has to place them. Shauna gets along well with females and males. She even likes small dogs. She's just a really really nice dog who loves the outdoors and doesn't deserve to spend the holidays at the kennel. She weighs 50 lbs. Sweet Shauna, as we in Massachusetts call her, is an endearing dog who always has a smile on her face. She has not met a dog or person she hasn't gotten along with. She loves being inside and is housetrained. She wants to please and is a very good dog. Her owner was forced to give her up because the landlord was going to evict. Taffy, 12 weeks Female Feist  Mix Click on picture to enlarge Adopted Taffy is a female pup in this litter of Feist mix puppies. These guys were about to be turned in to a high kill shelter along with their mother Nikki (coming on 12-12). A rescue worker was at the shelter and did not even let them go inside. She brought them to our contact and later decided to foster Nikkii, the mother dog, herself. Our contact kept the 5 pups and fostered them. They were 4-5 wks old when Ishe got them and are 12 wks old now. They are really sweet little pups. They play with squeaky toys, balls and Nylabones. They mostly like playing with each other and trying to torment the shepherd pups in the pen next to them! They are available after 12/5/08. Thelma-lou, ~2-3 years old Female Lab  Mix Click on picture to enlarge Adopted Thelma Lou is a TN stray who was taken in by some kind people who took care of her, along with a few other dogs. She is altered and vaccinated. She is friendly with other dogs and good with kids. They have a 2 yr old granddaughter and she plays with the dogs.The kind folks who rescued her have two dogs of their own and can't have more. She is available after 12/15/08.
