Adopted
Baby is a spayed female Wheaton mix who is estimated to be 9 yrs..old too. She's a very sweet little thing who gets along with children 3 yrs. and up. She is mild with cats, and fine with dogs, but we'd prefer older or quiet/calm dogs who won't jump all over her. Let her enjoy her senior years in peace and quiet. She has had some obedience training as she knows how to sit and stay. She is afraid of loud noises and thunder. She likes car rides, leash walks, and quiet time. She is a lap loving, social butterfly, who is still active and playful. Baby weighs approx. 28-30 lbs. If we can get her a ride, she'll be here around August 12th and available after August 14th. Please fill out an application if you're interested in meeting this sweet dog.

Ben, 10 months Male Shepherd / Boxer / Rhodesian Ridgeback
Mix
|
|
Adopted
Hi there! My name is Ben and I’m about 10 months old. I’m a big ball of energy who loves to run and play tug-of-war. I am much cuter than my pictures. These were taken when i was scared. I would love a big yard and a friend to run with. I love to cuddle and give kisses, too. I'm a hugger. I like playing with my foster brother, Norris, but cats don’t appreciate my exuberance. Sometimes I’m afraid of new people, but once I get to know them I’m a loyal friend who loves their attention. I was rescued from the island of St. Thomas, so you know I’m a cool dude! ******* If you would like to meet Ben, please fill out the online application and we will arrange to bring him to the shelter. He has a Shepherd nose with a Rhodesian Ridgeback look and Bloodhound wrinkles and short hair like a Boxer. He's beyond cute! He is available now

Bogey, ~ 8 months Male Basenji / JRT
Mix
|
|
Adopted
Bogey is a 19 lb male Jack Russel / Basenji mix. He is around a year old and is FUN, FUN, FUN! Got a ball? He's your best friend and will chase and even bring it back. He would make a really fun dog for a family of teens or tweens.
Bogey is a very cool little dog. He's very active and LOVES to play with dogs; he likes big and small dogs and is always accepted into the group. He is a low dog odor breed, and even when out playing in the mud seems to be miraculously clean when dries. He is completely housetrained, never any accidents indoors and has never lifted his leg indoors. He will sleep quietly in his crate all night but lately foster mom has just left him to sleep out of his crate, as he has earned her trust. He will need to start crated in his new home, of course. He is very loving and likes to cuddle on the couch with you for naps. He goes out to potty last thing before bedtime. He has not chewed anything up that is not his, loves toys, is great at ignoring the cats. He was at the vet, and children were there and he loves kids. His foster mom has never seen him be mean or aggressive. Bogey does need training, of course. He is very smart and should learn fast. He knows the sit command before his food bowl is given to him. He walks well on leash but will pull a little. Bogey can get very excited so best, until he matures to keep him well exercised and continue his training. He is tons of fun and would be great at agility training. His foster mom highly recommends a fenced yard for this little guy because if he gets loose, he will keep on truckin! He will be available after 7/31 so if you're interested, hurry up and fill out the application. Thanks so much!!

Candy, ~ 18 months Female Beagle / Whippet / Basenji?
Mix
|
|
|
Adopted
Candy is a ~12-18 month old small mix who weighs about 30 lbs.
Candy is a super sweet and easy going dog. She has gotten along really well with all the other dogs she's fostered with. She sniffs the bunny that we have rescued but does not seemed to be all that interested in it. She's also great with cats. She and the other dogs will play and play until they drop. She loves to go for walks and as soon as she sees the leash being picked up she is at your feet. Candy is a collecter of the toys. She manages to find all the toys and has them in a pile in the middle of the floor before you can blink an eye. Her favorite items are the many bones that are in the toy basket. She has no problem letting the other dogs or humans take a toy from the pile even if she is sitting with her pile of treasures. She loves to chase bugs and will catch them in her mouth.
Candy is house trained. She does not mind her crate. She will go into her crate when you tell her to go in with no problem.
Candy will sit for cookies and sit and wait before going through the door for a walk. She is very smart and agile, and would do really great with agility training.
History on Candy; She was on the euthanisa list at the Cumberland County Shelter in TN and when we were there she just captured our hearts; the voluteers could not say enough good stuff about her, and they were not wrong! Update from her foster: Candy is a cuddle bug- she is quite happy curling up beside me resting her head on my lap and gazing lovingly up at my face. She minds very well and knows basic commands. She comes fast to a whistle and gets down when I ask her to. She barks in a soft bark not very often, usually when she hears something or someone approaching- but not for long- sort of an announcement... not aggressively.
She likes to eat with the pack and not alone. She watches everything I do and usually comes along with me as I go about doing my chores. Candy has not gone upstairs yet- not from anything I have said- she watches me go up and waits for me to come down. She plays great with the big dogs and will race about for a bit- she settles down nicely. She travels great in the car- walks well on the leash. No accidents in the house at all. She is very respectful of the cats and has gone nose to nose without incident!! Candy does like to dig in the yard but with supervision and something to play with she stops. Candy loves her bully sticks and balls- she is a great chaser and brings them back for more. So smart. She greets all at the door with a wag and waits to get petted, loves belly rubs and kisses.Candy is a calm, gentle and loving girl-easily could have fun at an agility course with her new family. If you would like to meet her, please fill out an application so that we can bring her to the shelter for you to meet her.

Jordan, ~6 years Female Lab/Basset
Mix
|
|
Adopted
Jordan is a really nice Lab/Basset mix who is looking for a great home (along with her sister, Taylor). She was recently turned in along with her sister, Taylor. They are friendly dogs who were on the wrong food, so needed to lose a few pounds and they are doing GREAT. They are 6 year old Lab mixes who were rescued as puppies. They are sisters from the same litter. They have never been separated, but if the only way they can be adopted is separately, then we are willing to go that route and talk about visitations with each other. Update from their foster: If you have always wanted Black labs but not the high energy that comes with that breed, these girls (ladies) are for you. Both are overweight thru no fault of their own- they obviously have been fed from the table and wait for food scraps (I am guessing lots of pizza and pasta), they are learning to eat right and with exercise will trim down over time. Taylor is the larger one who looks most like a lab- she is a lady- polite (waiting for an invitation before going out or coming in) loving, calm and quiet- no roughhousing for her, she loves to be brushed and pampered, gazes lovingly into your eyes, gently asks (with her paw) for more petting from you. Taylor shows no aggression whatsoever toward man or beast (my cats). Unlike most labs she has no interest in balls, but loves her bully stick! Most happy lying at your feet wherever you are. Jordan is the tomboy of the two! She looks at first to be Lab, but shorter, her legs are more like Basset or Corgi. She is sweet just like her sister, but more adventurous, she too loves attention and happy to be with you wherever.... but she will leave your side to investigate and will pick up a scent of a rabbit or squirrel and then she is off on the hunt. Luckily for the critters she is not super fast, but her short legs will run as fast as they can!! Both sisters are crate trained and know and understand all that is asked of them:no, sit, come, move, etc., they are great with children- all ages (Mykids-11yrs., 4yrs and 6 months- all the kids love them and so gentle) I have no worries placing with children and know they will be loved by all. We hope someone will adopt both as they truly love each other and if one cries out or barks- the other goes immediately to help or lend support. These Ladies/Sisters are EASY dogs- and so quiet- they do not demand anything, they trust you and just want love and will give back so much. It would be great if they could stay together, but we will consider placing them separately. We will provide free food for six months to the right adopter. Someone needs to have a big heart and know that they will trim down with the right food and exercise. They are available now.

She loves her toys and will hold on tight if you try to take it, so needs to learn Drop It. She doesn't like to share her food with other dogs, but that's probably because she had to fend for herself as a stray. She's a good girl and has no huge issues. My name is Lady. I am approximately 5 years old. I weigh 32-35 lbs. and was found in a small town in front of a drug store and I was very hungry. I was picked up and placed in a loving foster home. I am housebroken. I love to sit next to you for hours just to spend time with you. I love to go for walks. I am excellent on a leash. I never pull or tug while walking. I walk slow and gentle. I get along well with other dogs and cats. I love people but would do best in an adult home or one with gentle adults. I love chew toys mainly to just carry them around in my mouth for a while. My foster mom says about me: What a dream dog! She is so easy!! Her mannerism is so touching... she will play, run if you want her to, but she LOVES to walk, right beside you and never pulls or tugs on her leash. She will sit at your feet and kiss on you for as long as you will allow. Never seen such a sweet and loving dog. If you are interested in adopting her, please fill out an application before coming to meet her. If she is not a match for you, we will keep it unhand and apply it to another dog who might be a better fit. Note: Lady was adopted and recently returned. She needs to gain a little weight back so we are keeping her for a bit to build her weight up. You can still apply as she should put the weight back on quickly.

Maggie is an 8 month old Australian Shepherd mix. She looks serious, but that's just how she is for the camera. She's house broken, great in the car, rides well. Maggie was adopted at that time directly from the shelter, but she received minimal training so she was given up. She runs hard, and plays hard, but settles dow beautifully inside. She will sit at your feet. She would love another dog to play with. She is fully vetted, spayed, and doing great in the kennel. She plays with Willy, the beagle. Patch is a gorgeous dog who would flourish in a dog-savvy home. He is a REALLY SMART dog who needs a challenge. He loves to chase dragon flies and will even jump up in the air to attempt to catch them. He would love to have a job as he's very focused and even chooses chasing the dragon flies over playing with dogs. No cats, please. His current foster mom says: We just love Patch. He is a precious boy and does extremely well in his crate. He even shares with Lucy, our Golden, the toys and bones. He seems to growl when he plays which could be mistaken for aggression but it's not. He MUST have a fenced in yard as he HATES school buses motorcycles and mail trucks! He seems to go crazy to want to chase them. He really loves the outside and needs a lot of space to run in.
Patch tries so very hard to please. He has learned to share. He loves to snuggle and will cuddle up whenever he is given the chance. He is great on the leash and walks better than my two! He is great in the car with the other two. At night when we watch tv, he just goes and lays in his crate or snuggles up on the couch. All in all, Patch is a wonderful dog with a few rough edges. He just needs someone who is a little experienced and will take the time to work with him. He is a sweetheart. But I would not want to see him kept indoors or without a place to run outside. He loves to be outside! Fences are a must. Please fill out an application if you are interested in meeting him. Patch is available to be seen by appointment only as he is in a foster home, or if you are coming on a weekend, let us know so we can bring him here.

He could be an only dog as he's a real people pleaser, although he likes to snuggle with the girl pups so would be great with an older sister. Please let us know you're interested by filling out the online application so we can start the process of getting them spoken for. They will be ready to go home in early August. We prefer stay-at-home or work-from-home situations for them as they will need to keep up the socialization with people and other dogs. They are all beyond cute.

Pippa, ~ 6 months Female Retriever
Mix
|
|
Adopted
Meet Pippa, a sweet yellow Lab mix who is soft and gentle. She has really blossomed at Save A Dog. Pippa is not just a sweet yellow/reddish Lab mix – she is soooo soft and gentle and cuddly. She loves to snuggle and give kisses, and really loves a good belly rub. She's in a foster home now with other dogs (2 males, 1 female) and plays well with all of them. The older dogs have taught her some ‘manners’, but she is still very much a true goofy puppy. She sleeps together with Brie, her sibling, another Save A Dog adoptable dog, in a pile on the same bed. Pippa is already house trained and crate trained. She sleeps through the night without making a peep, and let’s her foster mom know when she needs to go ‘out’. She recently attended a Petco event and sat in the shopping cart like it was just another day. She learned to do stairs in a single day (with the right treats, she will do almost anything!) She would love another dog pal, as she loves to play. She is still waiting for her forever home.
Pippa came from a large litter of puppies (unwanted) from TN. She is around 6 months old lab mix, and is a sibling to Asia, Brie and Eli. They were given up by their family along with their litter mates. They are from Tennessee. Pippa weighs around 35 lbs. now and has room to grow. Pippa was shy upon arrival, but has really come out of her shell and she runs up to greet you when she sees you coming. If you are interested, it would help us if you fill out the application ahead of time so we can bring her to the shelter to meet you.

Sally, ~ 6 years old Female Beagle
|
|
Adopted
Sally is a very sweet 5-6 year old Beagle who came up north for adoption via private adoption. She was no match for senior housing as she comes from a rural environment. A suburban setting would be fine as long as there's easy access to the out doors. She loves to sniff around in the grass and bushes. She's not a dog for a runner, but would be fine for retirees. She's very gentle with dogs and cats and good with children, but we're not sure how old so we'll try to find out. She was originally found at a deer hunting camp in Arkansas, alone and very pregnant. Now that her pups are gone, she's been spayed and vetted and is looking for a home of her own. This sweet girl deserves a wonderful retirement home where she can feel safe and where she can smell the roses. She loves to just sniff around the back yard. A fenced in yard would be ideal but if you're a walker who can take her out every day where there are lots of nice things to sniff, then you'd be a good home too. Applying online is faster than doing it in our lobby and your application stays on file if you should need to apply it to other dogs at our shelter.

Taylor, ~ 6 years old Female Lab/Basset
Mix

Adopted
Taylor is a really nice Lab/Basset mix who is looking for a great home. She was recently turned in along with her sister, Jordan.

Adopted
Triton is a beautiful 32 pound Shepherd mix. She is an intelligent girl who really wants a human of her own. She was in a high volume shelter in TN and was rescued and brought to Save a Dog. She's quiet and well behaved and non-demanding. She's always happy to see you, but isn't pushy at all. What a nice dog! This is what her foster mom said about her: "Triton is a sweet girl that will let you pet her for hours if you have the time. She has been through so much and will need time to settle in. She is very athletic, loves walking on a leash and running is even better. We do not recommend for a home with cats as she wanted to chase them."
Triton is currently at the shelter and available for adoption. She is much prettier in person than in her pictures. If you are interested, please fill out an online application.

Ty is a beautiful young neutered male who is looking for a forever home! He seems to Collie mixed with some Basenji or Jack Russell. He was hit by a car back in January and ended up with losing two toes from his back right foot. It doesn't slow him down much, but he will hop on it so we're doing the physical therapy. The place is in Walpole so if an adopter is within striking distance, they can continue to take him to the prepaid sessions. The original family said he is wonderful with kids, dogs, and cats. He was fostered with a yorkie puppy and they slept together. The only dogs he's not wild about are some other male dogs (you know how that goes), but he's also lived with males with no problem. He loves the outdoors. He loves his doggie bed." We are hoping he can have a fenced in yard and a somewhat rural or suburban setting away from cars. He knows sit, stay, down, be good, is very alert & interested in his surroundings, is not a barker, very quiet in the house & outside. Ty loves kids, adults, everyone, he does not know a stranger, loves to give kisses. He has been through a lot these past 6 months & is so ready for his real home with a caring patient loving fun family. Please fill out an application and then let us us know if you are coming to one of our Meet-and-Greet events at our shelter as he is in a foster home now so we will need to bring him here.

Willow, ~ 2 years Female Mini Australian Shepherd
|

Adopted
Update: We may already have a home for Willow, but have already received enough back up applications. If you apply for her we can use your application towards another dog if you'd like. Willow is a very loving and beautiful 2 year old mini-Australian Shepherd. Her pictures do not do her justice. Willow likes to play with toys and is very submissive to other dogs. She gets along well with cats and has been chased by her foster mom's cats so she really would rather leave them alone. She walks well on her leash. She is a dream in the car, and will ride like a lady in the passenger seat. She wants to be with her person all the time, it is a big issue for her.
She sleeps in her crate but would rather be in bed with her human. Willow has had no problems with chewing unauthorized objects unless they belong to her. She is 100% housetrained but does needs to go out often since she is small and can't wait long. She is using a doggie door at her foster home, and comes and goes as she needs. She has big and small dogs as foster brothers and sisters, and is fine with all. Willow has not been around children. She has never shown any aggression. Her owner surrendered her and that has made her a bit insecure. She has a beautiful coat, wash and wear, but should be brushed often so she can look her very best. She is available after 8/18.
