Adopted

Brody, is a 6 month old male silver and white Husky mix who is looking for a permanent home. Brody is a gorgeous dog who has a lot to offer. He's house-trained, not a big chewer, and friendly with other dogs. He loves women, is timid with some men. He is smart, playful, and gentle. He has medium energy, is not overly active at all. What a sweet pup. Brody has white on his feet as if he stepped in a can of paint and a white tip on his tail, which is a classic "collie" trait, so we think some collie is in his heritage. He has stunning blue eyes; his right one has a little bit of brown in it too though. He has a beautiful and unique silver coat as well. If you're interested, the best thing to do is to apply. Our process is that you fill out the application first, then come meet him. He's in a foster home so we need to know if you're interested in meeting him. Please read our guidelines under Apply to Adopt as some dogs require a stay-at-home and some dogs require a fenced in yard. He is neutered.

Adopted

Cammy got a lovely home with other dogs to play with too. She's doing great! Cammy is a tiny 3-year old Brussels Griffon who was rescued from a puppymill in TN and now inf a foster home in Sudbury, MA. We are looking for an experienced adopter who can work with any fear issues she may have as she was a puppy mill dog for most of her life. In her foster home in TN it took awhile to build up trust, but once she trusted she would sleep in her foster mom's bed every night. Cammy can be frightened in new situations and can climb gates when frightened, therefore we are seeking a very secure environment for her. A family with children coming and going is not a possible home for this dog. A single woman or a couple who have a quiet, controlled life, and who can devote the time to this little dog, is preferred. She spent three years of her life in a cage in a puppy mill so crating would not be recommended for this little darling. Once she gets to trust you, she needs to be able to sit on your lap and sleep in your bed. Our process is that you fill out the application first, then in one or two days we will contact you if your application is a match. Please read our guidelines under Apply to Adopt as some dogs require a stay-at-home and some dogs require a fenced in yard. Phone calls are discouraged as it takes time away from the care of the dogs to answer questions that might already be on our web site. We tend to put down everything we know. Daisy is a 3 year old gorgeous Golden Retriever who is a fabulous dog with no issues other than that she is a typical Golden who needs a lot of attention and exercise. Her growing family is giving her up as they recognize that they cannot meet her exercise needs. Please be a work-from-home or part time worker who does not have babies or toddlers in your future. Like any Golden, she loves to play ball, loves the water, loves to dig, loves food (your counters must be food-free). She is spayed, house-trained, sleeps in her crate at night, needs a routine. She does pull on leash, so will need training. Obedience training is required for all our adopters and we do provide a few lessons at our facility to get you started. Jed is ~10 month old Boxer/Hound mix neutered male who has been heartworm tested and is up to date on his shots. He has a med-high activity level, is playful and likes to run with pals in his foster home. He enjoys getting love and attention, and will drown you in 'kisses'. He is housetrained and sleeps nicely overnight in his crate. He would love someone to take him on long hikes and play with him. His foster mother says: "This young dog came over last evening. He was frisky and hungry. And watching him from the window were Henry and Shadow, loudly pronouncing that he should get inside and meet them. So in he came. At first hesitated at the steps – so many and winding upward! But, those other two barreled up there, so he followed. Once inside the living room, the sniffing began – so many new scents and dogs and people and noises! Where to begin!!!! But, a tasty bowl of food caught his attention – and he immediately inhaled it, along with any leftovers that my dogs dared to leave behind. Time to watch some TV – or not! he just barked and barked and barked at the TV – of course, it was all political chatter so who could blame him. Once he settled into my lap, though, I could let the TV run without him barking at all those annoying faces. Soon enough, the yawns started, so time to get in the crate – or NOT! He went in reluctantly, only to be followed in by Shadow! How to get Shadow out and leave Jed in there? Ahhhh, a seasoned foster has her tricks and cannot divulge those secrets. Well, he slept through the night, no accidents, and has been just a joy since he was woken up by Shadow and Henry – they have eaten, played, played some more, visited with all their neighbors who came over to see the new foster pup – and are back to playing some more. That pool in the yard is keeping them busy – either to get in or run circles around – just so much to do out there! Whoever gets this young guy is very lucky because he is quite a joy to have around!! So cuddly and a great little personality going on in there." She is the mother to the pups: Samone, Sadone, Kuddles, Aries, and Neptune. Her foster mom says about her: Lucy has been my absolute favorite foster dog. When she came to me she was so emaciated it would make you cry. But with good food and supplements she has become a gorgeous black lab. Lucy and I have become very close. She is at my side at all times. When i move, she is right there beside me. She sleeps with me and seems to know when I'm not feeling well because she nuzzles her head into mine and seems to know when I need my meds. I cannot tell you how sad it is to say goodbye to this dear girl, but I pray that she has a chance in New England and gets the best home possible. Sheeba is a lovely 7 year old spayed female mix. She was left at a high volume shelter in WV. The person who adopted her also adopted a puppy and they decided to keep the puppy inside and put her outside. She was not happy being stuck outside as she was an indoor dog in her last home. She was stuck outside in the back of a garage with no people contact, so she cried. We heard her story and said "get her here". She has arrived and is in a foster home in Holden. Sheeba is a pleasant dog to have in the house she is just as sweet as can be. She is very quiet and content to just lay at your feet all day. She loves getting her back rubbed and will even roll over for a belly rub. Sheeba loves to give kisses and just to be around people. She really enjoys her walks and being outdoors. She is tolerant of other dogs and is not at all agressive but she is not looking to play with them, although she will play with her foster mom and do play bows sometimes. Thank you to everyone who donated to Sid for his neurological evaluation. He has found a loving home and will get his vet visit to boot! Sydney aka "Sid" is an adorable puppy who recently came into our care with some special needs. He is a gentle pup and very playful. He will need a special home as he might have Cerebellar hypoplasia, a developmental problem that causes him to have a funny gait and sometimes lose his balance. For someone who doesn't know better he just looks like an awkward puppy. One of the causes of it is malnourishment and he was a very emaciated pup when he was first rescued in rural TN. For an accurate diagnosis he may need an MRI, so we are asking for donations to help with his evaluation. More info on the web at http://www.vetinfo.com/cencyclopedia/cecerhypo.html. Dogs with Cerebellar hypoplasia live a full life just as any other dog and it doesn't affect them mentally except for the lack of coordination. Sid's story: he was picked up as a stray at a dumpster site in TN, starved and alone. But he was fed and given shelter in his foster home there, and now will be coming up to us and be available beginning 7/24/09. He's a playful little boy, happy and friendly. Not mouthy at all, just the most affectionate dog you will ever meet. He is happy all the time and has a big smile. He loves squeaky toys, rope toys; pretty much anything he can pounce on and throw around. He loves to go for walks (he has no idea he walks funny) and play with tennis balls and frisbees in the backyard. He loves everyone and gives lots of kisses. He is also great with cats. He is great in the house, very relaxed and doing amazingly with potty training. The last picture is of Sid kayaking with his foster family, he loved it! Our process is that you fill out the application first, then in one or two days we will contact you if your application is a match.
