They kept him a little over 3 weeks and asked us to pull him because they didn’t want to put him down... We searched for his owners but no one stepped up. He is huge - over 82lbs now... 78 when we got him. Boudin is a lover... He loves to be petted and loved on and he gets the wiggles when he sees you coming or meets new people. He likes playing with his little foster sisters Peaches and Una but he doesn’t realize his size so you have to watch him... He puts his paws on them. He enjoys water and will go for a swim if you give him the chance... He likes to fetch but he’s not too good on the return yet -- he’s smart and wants to please so it wouldn’t take long to teach him.... He leads and sits on command if he’s not too excited.... He loads up in your vehicle without much prompting and sits politely in the passenger seat while he rides. He LOVES his food and is really happy with anything that you give him....He has a squeaky bark that sounds like a seal and sometimes it sounds like he’s saying “Mom, mom, mom, mom." She was found as a stray puppy in Louisiana and nobody claimed her. She's been in a foster home and is crate trained and house trained. She will let you know when she has to go out. Always expect a few accidents during the transition time. She has not been exposed to kids or cats as she was in an adult foster home. She might be mostly bully breed so if that's not your breed, she's not for you. Uggie/Oreo, 8 months Male Scottie  Mix   Click on picture to enlarge Adopted Uggie is a high energy nine month old Scottie mix who was returned as he was too much for his owner. He is a super playful, energetic dog who needs a lot of supervision and activities. He loves to play with dogs of all sizes and can hold his own with big dogs. He's too much for a senior or even a middle aged dog. He needs a fenced in yard as he tries to chase cars on his walks. His owner had been working with him and meeting with a trainer every week, so he's improved, but still needs a lot of redirection and reinforcement. He knows all his obedience commands, but needs positive reinforcement or he will regress. Someone interested in dog training, agility, or a dog sport would have a ball with him. He is not one to sit in a crate during the day, although he will sleep in his crate at night. He loves his bully sticks, loves squeaky toys, and love to chase squirrels. He's very comical and is full of antics. He's friendly to kids but is too much for little ones. Teens and up okay, but only with someone who has time. A terrier-experienced owner who has successfully brought one through adolescence would be a good match. He's not a running partner. He's going to be a great dog for the right adopter. Zara, 1-2 years Female Chi-weenie  Mix   Click on picture to enlarge Adopted Zara is a sweet young dog who is very adaptable. She arrived at Save A Dog mid March, rescued from a hoarding situation where she lived in close quarters with dozens of dogs. Pregnant and scared, she went straight into foster and lived with three resident dogs. From there she blossomed, keen to learn what was expected. House training was first on the list and she is now clean and dry overnight. During the day when not in the X-pen with her puppies, she is free in her foster home and if she fails to let the family know that she needs out, she will aim for a strategically placed pee pad. Her favorite thing to do is to collect all the stuffed toys around the house and pile them into one big pile. Zara loves the freedom of running around in the fully fenced in back yard. She loves to chase the birds. She loves to sniff and explore, rolling in the grass and sunning herself on the back deck. She has learned to walk nicely on leash. She has no problems with a harness and is very excited to be out and about. She is cautious of cars and we're thinking she is better suited for a suburban or somewhat quiet environment. Street noises will frighten her. Zara has bonded with her human foster mum, but also loves to spend time with both the dad and teens in the household. She likes nothing better than a warm lap to cuddle on. She is too young and energetic to be considered a "full time" lap dog, however. She needs to play. As she was from a life of extreme neglect we would love a stay-at-home or work-from-home situation for her. She will be available the end of May.
