  Baxter, 2.5 years Male Golden-Doodle
Baxter
Baxter

Adopted

Baxter is a neutered 2.5 yr old Golden-Doodle who needs a very special home. He was in a loving home with two small dogs, parents and kids/grandkids, but it seems he missed a window of socialization in his early life as he was extremely fearful and timid. He has never shown aggression, but when he gets spooked, he will run over anyone in his way to flee and can knock over a small child easily. In his previous home he would hide out in his crate. He's going to need the right adopter who has experience with behavior modification, maybe someone who has taken a dog from the south who started out extremely timid. Another dog would be a plus for this guy as well as a fenced in yard in a quiet setting. He is house-trained. Under a veterinarian's supervision, he was tried on Prozac and trazadone with no luck. They had him in an obedience/socialization class and the instructor told them it was too stressful for him. He seems better - calmer - with men than with women. Please do not call or email. If you fill out the online application at http://www.saveadog.org/applytoadopt.asp, someone will get back to you in a day or so.

Adopted

BEAR is a 3 year old Hovawart mix, neutered male. Fluffy and fabulous - that's me! My name is Bear and I weigh 70 fluffy lbs. When you meet me, you'll swear that at least 15lbs of that is my thick fur! I'm a happy go lucky guy who somehow got lost during all the crazy storms in North Texas in October. When a friendly animal control officer found me, I was happy to get some help! I was an easy keeper at the shelter because I was super gentle with the kind staff and got along great with the other dogs there. But, unfortunately, I had something they called "heartworms" and that meant I needed help and fast. The great people with PAWS for Irving Animals took me and are getting me treated and now I'm heart worm free. In the meantime, I'm sleeping on soft dog beds, getting lots of love from my foster people and learning how great it is to carry this thing called a "toy" around! If being "adopted" is anything half as good as being "fostered", I can't wait! I have lots of cuddles to offer and I promise to be your happy-go-lucky, loyal companion! Get your application in now so we can meet! Available 1/15/19.
