Charlotte

Adopted

Charlotte is a beautiful pup with markings like an ACD Heeler. She came in with a litter of four who were fostered in Indiana. She is smaller than her sister, Chantelle, and is so very sweet. They love to play with each other and with toys but have a calm nature. They never fight. There are 3 females and 1 male. They are 12-13 weeks old, each weighs about 15 - 18 lbs. Mom, Pearl, is only 35 lbs but the puppies are huge so we think the Dad was a large breed, either Akita or St. Bernard. Families with kids over 12 preferred and for large pups it's best to have a fenced in yard or fencing in the future so that they will get adequate exercise. Because these pups are so young, we prefer stay at home/work from home/or alternate schedule families, so the pups get all the socialization and training they need at this age. Please start the process by filling our online application at www.saveadog.org.

Cookie, 1 Year Male Poodle/Bichon  Mix
Cookie
Cookie

Adopted

Cookie is a little Poodle mix born on 4/13/2014. He was returned to the Shelter in St Thomas after having been adopted. because his owner had a change in lifestyle that prohibited them from keeping him. Cookie is best with an adult home as we have no known experience with children. He has met many poodles and other dogs his size, but he is too much for them. He would need Standard Poodles or Labs to match his inability to play appropriately. He needs to learn some manners, but is not a bad dog, just clueless. An experienced dog owner who knows how to take a dog through training would be ideal. He is adorable and will make someone a wonderful companion. He is available for adoption now.

Cookie's current foster mom adores him and calls him her "little buddy" because he follows her everywhere. He is completely housebroken and house trained. The only time he gets mouthy is when he gets excited. He is extremely affectionate and cuddly. He loves toys and keeps himself occupied with them. Loves to chew on marrow bones, antlers, bully sticks, etc.

Cookie does not appear to have any separation anxiety. He gets up in the bay window when his foster mom leaves for work and all the neighbors have commented about seeing him in the window. He sleeps through the night (in bed with her...where else?). He is not a barker and only barks when he sees people or dogs outside when he is in the window. Loves to go for walks but gets excited and pulls on the leash a bit.

Adopted

Goldie is a 2 year old Lab/Corgi mix who has a lot to offer to her forever family. Her foster family says: 'Goldie loves to chase and tug toys with people and dogs. She is doing well with the "sit" command, but sometimes life is just too exciting and she has to turn crazy circles. I do think she will be a dream dog to train as she is keen to learn and takes instruction from all of us. She loves her walks and love the car. She has walked in very rural settings and residential walks, both on her own and with my dogs. She goes at quite a pace and has found a zest for life. She is fully house trained. and plays well with my smaller dogs (12lbs and 22lbs). It is amazing how much Goldie has blossomed in the past few weeks. When she first came into our shelter a few weeks ago we were horrified to learn that she was full of BBs. It's hard to believe anyone could shoot such a nice dog. She is so sweet and submissive. She gets along with other dogs but sometimes needs time to warm up. we're not sure about cats." Apply at www.saveadog.org

LILLY IS ADOPTED! Lilly is an awesome female Shepherd mix who came to us recently from her local owner. He had to give her up because he moved and she was not allowed in the new living situation. She passed our evaluation with flying colors and the man said she's an easy keeper (we believe it). She is trained on the doggy door with the fenced in yard (no e-fences, please). She was fine with visiting children of all ages. She loves to chase a ball and will play fetch for hours. She is looking for a family to love her and give her the exercise and socialization she deserves. She loves everyone she meets and is complemented on how good she is by them all. It can be a working or part time working home but no full time workers please. She is ready to have social time. The man had her for 6 years so the vet records indicate 10, but they guessed on her age when she first came to them. She looks younger and is pretty active.

SARSHA AND OSCAR FOUND A LOVING HOME TOGETHER. THIS IS THE MIRACLE WE HAVE BEEN PRAYING FOR. Oscar and Sarsha are 12 and 13 year old Pembroke Corgis whose owner suffered ill health and neighbors cared for them for several months. They are have medical work ups. Oscar has some kidney stones that are not causing a problem. His main issue is an irregular heart beat so he is not a candidate for surgery if the need arises. They are very sweet little dogs who are very affectionate. We would love to place them together as they are very bonded, but we understand the expense of taking on two seniors so we are willing to place them separately if it means that each gets a great home. We will consider an assisted living environment as they are very sweet dogs who are comfortable around seniors.

Adopted

This little "rug rat" needs a grooming, but don't hold it against him. He is a great little dog. Little Simon was surrendered because the people couldn't take on the responsibility of a dog. He is under 20 lbs and was born on 2/2/14 so still young and active. His little tail has not stopped wagging since he got here. What a love. Still, he was not raised with children that we know of so to be on the safe side, we're saying 12+ and up. It would be best for him to have someone home at least part of the day to begin his training as the previous people just did not have the time for him. He has luxating patellas in his hind legs but it doesn''t seem to bother him other than during the vet exam. He is adorable and will be at our Meet & Greets. Please fill out an application prior if you are interested in meeting him. you can access it at www.saveadog.org.He is in foster care and we are happy to make a private appointment to see him. He will not be at Meet & Greet.

Adopted

Skye is a precious 4 month old Husky mix special needs pup with stunning blue eyes and a gorgeous coat. She has a balance issue possibly from a cerebellum injury. She is being fostered by a trained homeopath and we are using complementary medicine such as acupuncture and other therapies to help her. She is making great progress and acts like a normal pup except for the wobbly issue. Like any Husky breed she loves her space and would love to be able to run around off leash, so a fenced in yard is a must (also to keep her safe from coyotes) and also she is not currently leash trained. She is co-existing with cats but has a prey drive so we think a cat-free home might be best. She loves to run and play and she also thinks she's a lap dog. She sleeps in her crate at night and does well. She is still working on house training, so access to a fenced in yard would help accelerate her training. Skye has a lot to offer to the right adopter. Part time workers or workers with a flexible, overlapping schedule would be fine. She's a beautiful pup, so sweet and bubbly. Please fill out the online application if you would like to meet her. She will not be at our Meet & Greet's but we can make a private appointment. We found a wonderful home for her but we still need to raise funds to pay for her therapies. We welcome sponsors to help pay for her therapies.
