Cinder is an 82 lb Lab who lost her home on Christmas eve, of all times! She is reputed to be 17 years old so we are only looking for a hospice home for her, someone with a really soft heart. Who knows, she could live a few more years. Cinder's in a short-term foster home and so far is fine with her dogs and ignores her cats. She's gone to the door to go outside to do her business --- Good Girl!!! When they took her to the car, she tried to jump in. So we lifted her front paws in and then her rear. She sat calmly on the back seat and watched out the window - content. What a sweet heart of a dog. The vet reviewed her and had this to say: She's stiff/arthritic in her joints. Some dry skin. Some lypomas. She has a firm mass on her left rear leg that has been there for several years and doesn't seem to bother her. We'd not do anything with it given her age and arthritis since to remove it would probably mean taking the leg. Her teeth weren't that bad. Her story: Her owner was/is homeless, living out of her car. She took Cinder from her brother when he died of cancer. Cinder could no longer live in the vehicle comfortably so she was give up to the pound. Georgie, ~ 7 years Female Pug Click on picture to enlarge Adopted Update, good news, Georgie's mass may only be a reaction to the inside sutures from her spay! and the vet tech that helped her has fallen in love and she is now spoken for!! They will monitor her monthly with ultrasounds. Her vet bills are over $770 so please help us raise the funds to cover her expenses. Her story: Georgie is a very sweet Pug who was relinquished to a shelter in KY along with her pal, Maggie the Great Pyrenees. They were told that she was 3 years old, but we all suspected older because of her gray muzzle. Our vet examined her after the quarantine period at our shelter and thought she felt a mass near her bladder. We just had her tested for bladder stones and although the urinalysis seems normal there was a shadow on the X-ray. She is scheduled for an ultrasound on 3/22 so we should know more by the afternoon. We suspect a mammory tumor as the vet paperwork indicated she had one removed in the past. Given her condition we're estimating she is around 7 years old. The vet thinks she has minimal sight in her right eye. Georgie is a sweet and loving dog who will just crawl in your lap and cuddle. We are asking for donations to help cover her vet work-up. My name is Riley and I am a pure bred Min Pin and a very special girl. I am sweet, lovable and cuddly. That makes me special, but so do my eyes. Can I tell you about them? My first owners used me for breeding. Even though I made them a lot of money, they didn't want to spend any of it taking care of me. I have a chronic condition known as keratoconjunctivitis sicca (KCS), or simply Dry Eye. Can you imagine trying to blink your eyes with no lubrication? Well I had to do that for the first three years of my life, and as you can imagine, it was very painful. My eyes got scarred from that, and now I am slightly vision impaired. When I was first brought to a shelter, my eyes were terribly inflamed, had bright pink ulcers all over them and they were even bleeding! It was terrible. But you can see from my pictures that my eyes are in great shape now. That makes me so happy and I feel wonderful. My foster mom takes such good care of me. I love her. I can see well enough to run around and play with my foster siblings. I love to be outdoors going for walks or hiking. I even love to go kayaking! Anyway, back to my eyes. What my eyes need to keep looking as beautiful as they do now, is eye drops. Yup, that's it. Just eye drops. And I am so very good about having them put in, it only takes a few seconds to do it. So why have I been waiting so patiently for over a year for my very own home? It is because the eye drops are very expensive and I need someone special who is willing to be as committed to me as I will be to them. I need these drops put in my eyes several times a day for the rest of my life, because I will never produce the tears I need to lubricate my eyes. The wonderful people at SAVE A DOG have saved me from living a life of pain and are committed to finding me the perfect forever home. But they need help to pay for my ongoing expenses.
