Leave the door open during the day and you can find that she has gone in to take a nap. She is curious about cats, but since she is a pup now is a good window in her life to make her a fan of cats forever. She is pictured snuggled up with Mouse who came up earlier this month and she loves to cuddle with anyone that will let her. She is available to meet 2/15 at our Meet & Greet.

Adopted

Juno is a 14 month old Australian Shepherd / Border Collie / Great Py mix. Her personality is more Border Collie or herding breed and is smaller than we first thought. She get along with other dogs, if you have another dog, you will want a match for her energy level, she will still be playing when others want to quit. She has manners in the house, but is still a pup so can sometimes get into things. Juno is house trained and knows her basic commands either by voice or hand signals. She will chase cats if they run, being a typical herder. She is a beautiful ball of soft fluffy fur, with sky blue eyes. Prior to being brought to Save A Dog, Juno was in foster with three large dogs. She is house trained and is very social and of course thinks the world revolves around her. Kula ~9-10 months Male Aussie/Beagle Mix Kula is a very sweet young dog. Kula has a happy wag for everyone he meets. And now more than anything he’s looking forward to his forever home. He is a submissive dog and seems to be fine with other dogs. He would love to have a home with another dog of equal size and energy. Cats are unknown. His story is not unlike other dogs from rural Tennessee. He was found by some nice people wandering a busy street, with marks on his neck from a chain and an injury to his leg. They took him home, nursed him back to health, and his scars and injuries have healed. Resilience and forgiveness shines through him. He walks well on leash and he knows sit and stay, sleeps in a crate at night and rides fine in the car. This is an active boy and because of his breed will need a lot of space to run, sniff and explore. He loves long walks and hiking through the woods. Eventually he would be able to hike off-leash after he is securely bonded to his person and environment. He also enjoys chasing balls but hasn’t learned to retrieve yet. Kula really wants to be someone’s forever friend and companion. He is available as of 2/1/14.

Her foster mom from Anguilla says about her: She is shy but friendly and she bonds quickly. She is quiet but even after a day with us, she barked a couple of times to alert us of something strange. She has an underlying playfulness that will come out when she is comfortable in her new place She likes having a carrier or crate with an open door to use as a haven She is house trained but doesn't yet know how to tell you that she has to go outside. She slept inside (actually in bed with me) all night for the two nights she was here and was a quiet girl, just slept next to me. She had a couple of little doggy dreams that made her cry, poor baby. She is smart and learns quickly Here's a picture of her leaving at the airport. Mouse is about 2 yrs old neutered and weighs 12-15 lbs and was rescued from a TN animal shelter. What a great little dog, he has so much personality, he just brightens your day to watch him strutting around. He is 100% house trained and mastered using a dog door quickly. He gets along with all the fosters, he rides great in the car, walks on a leash and loves the crate and if the door is open will go in to snuggle down for a nap during the day. He is not a fan of cats though. He has coarse fur and little tufts of fur on his legs and muzzle, so we can assume he has terrier in him. He was mistreated by a child so now he is not a fan of children so his adopter should have older children if any at all. His foster mom says: he is a good little dog, completely housebroken 100%, eats good, sleeps through the night . Does give a little growl to new people/dogs but then is very friendly, loves everyone and every dog I have had him with (I did not have him with any kids). He does bark sometimes; inside he is pretty quiet except when a loud truck/plow goes by outside. He walks well on a leash. He is very snuggly, if I sit he is on my lap or beside me with his head on me. Come meet him at Petco on 2/7 from 12-2 PM in the Natick store.

Reese is a 10 months old Pomeranianand weights about 4 lb. Reese has been on the Save A Dog coming soon list for a month now and is finally out of the hospital and in foster. His leg had been broken for 2 weeks before the Save A Dog partner in TN was contacted by the owner. Although tripods do very well, we decided to save this beautiful boy's leg. He is doing very well. Reese is such a darling little boy, he is so sweet. He is very quiet crated or out of the crate.. He has been through so much but his resilience shows through. He loves to play with toys, he will potty on pee pads or outside if given the chance he prefers outside. He wouldn't think of being mean to a cat or a dog. We are watching that now that he is out of the hospital he doesn't over use his leg as it is still mending. He wants to run and play with all the other dogs, which of course worries foster mommy. He deserves someone that will love and protect him so he never has to go through any pain and suffering again. Reese will be taking applications and decide on the very lucky adopter to be his new mom and dad. Of course, the Save A Dog staff will help him with that decision..

Ritchie is a playful pup who needs a forever home. His mom was beautiful and of a good temperament. Ritchie is a good boy already 90% house trained. He has the darker coloring with the most beautiful markings. He loves to play and is not afraid of big dogs. He's a pretty out-going pup. His mom, Celia, is a wire-haired terrier / Australian Shepherd mix with a naturally bobbed tail but he has the longer tail and possibly either Pointer, or Cattle, or Beagle in him. Ritchie looks like a wire-haired pointer with a fuzzy face. He was born on November 19th. He is paper trained but prefers to do his business outside. A fenced in yard or area is best as he is not yet leash trained. A harness with leash is a good way to leash train a puppy for walking without the fenced in yard. He is available now.

Rocket is one of Celia's pups and he loves the water! He thinks the water bowl is his personal pool. He digs at the water until there is not one drop left. He is soft and a little shy, so a gentle, dog-experienced home would be best for him. He has the terrier-coat, but is the calmest of all the puppies. Celia's Puppies were born on November 19th. He is paper trained but prefers to do his business outside. A harness with leash is a good way to leash train a puppy. They run and wrestle for hours and then plop down for a long nap, wake up and go again. They are puppies though, with sharp claws and sharp teeth, so small children are not advised. They love to eat shoelaces and tug and climb on pant legs. They are so young they will need a stay at home situation in order to be properly socialized -- the rule of thumb is not more than one hour alone for each month of the puppy's age. Please note we do not spay and neuter young puppies as it causes health problems later on. Spaying and neutering upon maturity is a requirement, however. We are showing him from 1-3 on Sat and 12-3 on Sunday.

Adopted

Rose is a sweet and personable dog who gets along well with dogs, cats and people. Rose was listed as a Long Haired Beagle, but there is no such thing so we're estimating that she has some spaniel or Collie mixed in. She's spayed and weighs around 20 lbs. She's approximately 1 years old. Her foster mom in WV says: "I had Rose loose in the house, she was very well behaved, she got along with my 7 dogs. She and another small dog played together every day. She sat on our laps often and never made a sound. She waited on her food and knew where she would be fed. She didn’t want to be closed in away from the other dogs -- she wanted to be part of the pack. She went outside with them and blended in fine. She would sleep on a dog bed in the bedroom and didn’t try to get on the bed, but then there wasn’t much room with 7 other dogs. She was eating fine, preferring soft food, so she gets a mix. She was never too sure what to do with a dog bone and usually had it stolen from her, she never cared. She stayed in the house while I was gone with my 3 beagles and there were no problems. She ignored the three cats." She is available now. Pictures were taken just after her bath. Her fur is much softer than it appears. Scrappy is a 7 year old neutered male Cocker Spaniel who loves to play with his toys and loves to fetch a ball. He came from a household of children, but one child has allergies so he was reluctantly relinquished. Scrappy is great with the kids, but can take a little while to warm up to new people. We're looking for someone who knows the breed and who will provide him with a holistic protocol and lots of love. He is in good shape for a Cocker his age -- he wasn't overly vaccinated but is up to date on Rabies, so is in pretty good health. He has the typical ear infections, but is responding quickly to the homeopathic remedies. He has the wiggly Cocker energy and the sunny Cocker disposition. He loves to play with his toys and will entertain himself for hours with his squeakies and tennis balls. He was overweight upon arrival, but is on a grain free diet and is slimming down. He needs to get daily walks. He's great with other dogs and he lived with a pit bull in his former household. Our best placements are with opposite sex pairs so we feel he would adjust more quickly if the other dog were a female. Please apply online as he will be in a foster home and will need to be brought to the shelter for you to meet him.

Stitch is WONDERFUL dog who is in foster care so we know a LOT about him. He's an EASY keeper, already past his puppy years. He's born and raised in Massachusetts, was a stray. He's neutered and house trained. We're guessing he's around 5 years old. He's a nice little guy who was pudgy when he came in but he's slimming down. He's already lost 4 lbs in the past two weeks so he will be in great shape in no time. At first he didn't want to play with the other dogs but now he runs around with them in the yard initiating play. We're looking for an adult home because we don't know if he has a history with children. He likes to be petted but is not a pest about it. He's such a good-natured dog. He would probably be just fine with visiting kids, however. He prefers small dogs to large and is comfortable with the other four little dogs in his foster home. He is not good with cats, well, he barked at the cat during the cat test. We would prefer a fenced yard directly from house so he remains safe as he is very quick. He generally doesn't like to be carried around, but has been so tolerant of many people picking him up, we're amazed. He's going to make someone a nice little dog. He is very smart and very loving! Please fill out an application at www.saveadog.org if you are interested in meeting him. He will be shown only by appointment.

Twist is a spayed about 2-3 yr female mixed breed dog that was in the animal shelter in TN. She was very afraid with all the big scary dogs around her. When they all started barking she would run outside in freezing temps just to get away, she thought she was going to be eaten. So she was taken out of the shelter and placed in foster. She was instantly accepted by all the other dogs in the foster home, which is always a very good sign of temperament. She is such a good girl, she wants to play with all the dogs, even the puppy, she loves soft squeaky toys has had no accidents in the house, and is just an all around love. She was left in an apartment when the owners moved away and the landlord called animal control. She should be a great fit with any family, but has not been child tested yet. She will need to shed some lbs, Save a dog will evaluate and a safe weight loss program will need to be followed to get her where she needs to be on her weight. We just can't believe such a sweet girl would be abandoned.
