Adopted

Born 7/23/09, these puppies are as sweet and playful as can be. Mom, Katie (recently adopted) was a small black Shepherd with ears bigger than her head, so the pups will be similar. They weigh from 8-15 lbs, so not too big. They are very playful and friendly pups and take after their mom who was very sweet and gentle. They have been socialized with children, but you must be a dog-experienced family, committed to obedience training as we want permanent homes for these pups, not as a present for a child to be returned later. A physical fenced-in yard is required for families with children 12 and under. Please read our guidelines and apply online before coming to a Meet and Greet. "Apply to Adopt" from the home page of www.saveadog.org. Available to be seen starting 10/30/09.

Adopted

Duncan is a 1-2 year old Collie/hound mix who weighs about 45 lbs. He is neutered and is from Mississippi and is one of those dogs who was pulled from a bad situation that he didn't deserve. He is a very active dog who will need some training, but responds well to the clicker. He is a cat chaser, but hasn't hurt. Still we would say no cats. Our process is that you fill out the application first, then give us a few days to get back to you or come to one of our Meet and Greets to meet the dog. Please read our guidelines under Apply to Adopt as some dogs require a stay-at-home and some dogs require a fenced in yard. Phone calls are discouraged before the dog arrives as we tend to put down everything we know. If information is missing, it's usually because we don't know yet. :-)

Adopted

Fritz is a very calm dog who we think might be 2 or so years old, and who appears to be a Basenji mix, although the sending shelter said he was a Spitz mix (we just don't see any Spitz in him, not even in the personality). He is an extremely quiet, calm dog who loves to be petted. He puts his nose under your hand so you will pet him. It's the sweetest thing. He is a petite dog, around 17 lb and has delicate feet. He's full grown. He is smart and loving and looking for a forever home. He's house trained, whines to go out, doesn't chew your stuff, is calm inside but playful outside. He is the perfect dog! Our process is that you fill out the application first, then give us a few days to get back to you or come to one of our Meet and Greets to meet the dog. Please read our guidelines under Apply to Adopt as some dogs require a stay-at-home and some dogs require a fenced in yard.

Adopted

Henry is a very mellow and sweet senior Basset Hound. He lost an eye due to glaucoma, but he has been doing great and has no problems getting aruond. He loves to ride in the car. He is the perfect gentleman in his foster home and loves to sit quietly on the couch and even snuggle up with the cats. He is estimated to be 11 and will need care for his remaining eye (eye drops will be provided to adopter). He just loves attention and affection and loves to lie out in the yard in the sun. He is a low maintenance dog and an easy keeper. He would be the perfect companion for a retiree or a first time dog owner. He is very friendly, sweet natured and loving. Here's what his foster mom says: Henry's is doing well with us, he is such a sweet, quiet dog when out of the kennel enviroment. He spent all day Sunday in the car with me doing my real estate showings, and is quiet as a mouse when he is in the car. In fact, every time we let him out, he heads over to the closest car and waits at the car door because he wants to go for a ride. He can follow us upstairs, but has more difficulty going downstairs, so we carry him down. He loves to lounge on the couch all day and at night when we watch TV. He likes to toss his Kong in the air and chase it, but sometimes when we throw it he looks like he can't see it all. Our process is that you fill out the application first, then in one or two days we will contact you if your application is a match or you can come to our showings, just make sure you let us know you're coming so we can make sure to bring him there.

Update: Molly has been transferred up to NH to the Cochedo Valley Humane Society. www.cvhsonline.org . They say she is brilliant and adorable! Please apply for her from that Web site. >>>Molly is a medium-sized, 2 year old spayed border collie who was turned in by her owner, probably for having too much energy. She is a gorgeous dog, but of course needs the right adopter who can meet her exercise needs. She can not be placed with another dog or a cat. No children either....she will even herd teenagers. Her coat was full of knots and mats when she fist came in, but now that she has been brushed and bathed she looks gorgeous. Molly walks really well on leash and loves to go for long walks, hikes and bike rides. She is good in the house, is house-trained, loves squeakies, bully sticks and all sorts of other bones and toys. She is super cute: she will grab a squeaky toy and roll on her back and toss it around for herself or bring it over to you for a game of fetch or tug of war. Molly is incredibly intelligent and trainable; she learns new commands in only seconds. Molly is very well behaved in the house and really loves people, even strangers. She tries to say hello to everyone during walks. She is a cuddly dog who really bonds to the people that surround her. Please apply. Our process is that you fill out the application first, then in one or two days we will contact you if your application is a match. Please read our guidelines under Apply to Adopt as some dogs require a stay-at-home and some dogs require a fenced in yard. Phone calls are discouraged as it takes time away from the care of the dogs to answer questions that might already be on our web site. We tend to put down everything we know. Molly is a spayed female Boxer mix who was rescued from TN. She is a gentle dog who loves nothing better than to hang out on a big fluffy dog bed or sitting by your side watching TV. She is housetrained and is past the chewing stage. She is good with dogs, cats, and people. A male dog would be best as a dog friend as she is a large female. She is quiet and calm, would be fine with a couple in their 50's or 60's. She's having a ball in her foster home and has settled in nicely and is very well behaved inside. A fenced in yard would be ideal, but she is doing much better on leash so we would consider the right situation for her. Our process is that you fill out the application first, then in one or two days we will contact you if your application is a match. Please read our guidelines under Apply to Adopt as some dogs require a stay-at-home and some dogs require a fenced in yard. Pepsi is the Lab who could not find a home. He is such an awesome dog that he was considered to be a Search and Rescue dog. He is a typical Lab in many ways, energetic and strong. He has been to "board and train" has been to Tennessee and back because his rescuers are very committed to him. We need to find a place for this awesome dog and would consider another Lab Rescue group. Please email if you are interested in placing him or adopting him. A guy would be perfect for him, but he has been fostered by women too. You just have to be a strong leader and understand that he's a goofy lab and will have at least another year of total goofiness. Pepsi walks loose leash, will auto-sit, auto-down, wait, and a host of other things. Whoever adopts him must take at least one training session so that he doesn't lose his training. Pepsi loves a lot of walking and he loves to play with his toys. He could spend all day chasing after a ball. He is a great dog who deserves a great home. If his training is kept up to date, he will be an awesome dog for someone.
