Pip, 1 year old Male West Highland Terrier Click on picture to enlarge Adopted Pip is an ADORABLE 1 yr old pure-bred Westie. He was an owner turn in who was basically not wanted nor given the time and attention he deserved. He is a typical energetic & playful westie terrier! He loves people. He is currently in foster, and loves the attention and caring he's never/rarely received before. We feel the best home for Pip would be as an only dog, or perhaps as a second small dog, preferably a westie in the home. Pip is dominant and wants to be treated like a Prince. Pip needs a 'stay at home" person...someone who works from home, a homemaker, and/or someone who can take Pip to work. Someone who is familiar and experienced with the Westie breed would will be ideal. We dont know how he is with cats, but he enjoys playing with other dogs, but his main focus is his person... He is very much a happy little guy, his tail is wagging 98% of the time. He is basically housetrained, may need a little reinforcment when transitioning into his new home. Pip can sit and beg, lie down, and has started clicker training. He's smart as a whip and learns fast....eager to please. He needs some obedience training, as he's not always sure what is acceptable and what is not, but is learning. He's really just a love and deserves a wonderful home with people that will give him all the love he deserves...and in return, he'll make a WONDERFUL pet! Pip has some jaw calcification that is prevalent in the Westie breed. he is in no pain and Xrays actually show that the jaw calcification has improved/reduced somewhat over 6 months between Xrays. However, this is a condition that his adopter should be aware of and prepared to treat IF necessary.So for this reason, we are listing Pip as SPECIAL NEEDS. He is currently on a diet of dry kibble and has no problem chewing nor with chewing bones, treats and such.
