Bobby, 2 years Male Chi-weenie  Mix

Adopted

Hi, My name is Bobby and I'm a two year old Chi-weenie. I was adopted last year but after a year my family realized that I'm best in a home without small children. I got nervous with the toddler's shrieking noises and I developed sensitivities so a quiet home would be a relief for me. Also, if I'm sound asleep I don't like to be touched or picked up. I developed some anxiety over that and Save A Dog says lashing out is my coping mechanism and is not my fault. Other than those two things, I'm a fun little guy. I love to spin around with a new toy. I love to cuddle up under a blanket. I'm house trained but if you leave me home for hours, well, a dog's gotta do what a dog's gotta do. I can only hold it for so long. How about an adult home where someone works part time or is home during the day? I'm not for an inexperienced dog owner, so please have a little experience. Us little guys have our quirks but just remember, it's a big world out there and I'm really small, under 20 lbs. I should be available to meet once you send in your application. I'll be in a foster home until my new forever person finds me.

DO YOU LIKE TO HIKE? I'm your new best friend! I love to hike and am great on the trails. I'm a one year old Collie/Husky mix. I'm an affectionate, active dog and I will lie by your feet and squeak a squeaky toy or chew on an antler. I'm a big lover boy who craves affection and snuggles. I AM HOUSE TRAINED, neutered, and know commands 'touch', 'watch', 'sit', 'down' and 'come'. For the most part I come when called. I love to go for long walks/runs with anyone who will go with me. I love other dogs and would be fine going to daycare. I was in a home with small children and was too bouncy for the 4 year old, but I love kids. I should be in a home where there are no small animals, because of the husky in me. Other dogs are great, but I chase cats and chickens and the chicken owners were not happy, but it was lots of fun for me. I have been on the agility and loved it for the sheer exercise!

Charity is just a year old and she has so much to offer. She is very affectionate and will lean into you. She was a recent return and we're a bit baffled as her adopters wanted her to be able to go off-leash and she just wasn't ready. This is not unusual as very few adolescent dogs are ready to go off leash. One year old dogs are still puppies so this little love bug (who lives up to her name) is looking for her forever home. She's just a blast, loves other dogs, loves to go into the doggy pool, and she will play fetch. She would do best with a fenced in yard because she can pull on leash when she's excited. My name is Cooper and I'm a total Mutt and I'm under a year. I was found a stray in rural South Carolina. I'm really not sure how I ended up lost but I guess these things happen sometimes! The nice people who found me took me to the local shelter to be scanned for a chip, I didn't have one. When the shelter explained they were really full and I would only make that worse for other dogs my foster family took me home again. Lucky for me, I never had to spend a single day at the shelter! My foster parents say I do great in the house, I use the puppy pads if I really have to and no one is around. I am good in my crate but am good outside the crate too. I love snoozing on the couch or in bed with my foster parents, I enjoy playing with toys a lot. I am a friendly puppy who loves everyone I meet, dogs and people alike. I am just an awesome little guy who deserves the best home ever. My foster family will miss me but they are super excited that I will get to enjoy new things in New England like snow! They told me I will have to learn to bark with a new accent but I'm sure I can learn to do that too! Thank you for making me a part of your family! Available 8/15/19.

Adopted

Danish is 3-4 year old spayed who weighs 44 pounds. She loves every dog and person she meets. Her awesome personality is truly amazing considering where she originated (Allendale made the news), a shelter so rural and run down with no workers, the one ACO chained some of the dogs in their cells with no access to food or water. Very few dogs make it out of this particular shelter alive. When Danish came into foster care she was quite skinny. She immediately took to her foster Mom and her tail has not stopped wagging since! She is crate trained and leash trained but does get very excited to go walking and needs a minute to calm down on the leash but she does calm down. At night you point in her crate and she goes in. She is an obedient dog. She had house time and was more than good in the house. She didn’t run in the house, she was calm, a little curious but not too much. Mostly she wants to be by your side. She also had some couch time. She got along with large and small dogs in foster care, including 2 chihuahuas, a medium size terrier, an Aussie- poo, a senior pit bull, 2 labs (Faith) so a lot of dogs were there for her to play with. She had her pick. She liked them all. Available now.

Emily is a one year old spayed female Redtick Coonhound mix. She weighs 40 lbs. Best friends with Rascal. Emily says, "Hello there, my name is Emily. One day I woke up to find myself in a high kill shelter in rural Florida and I wasn't quite sure how I got there. I kept asking myself "why don't these people appreciate my cuteness and lovable personality?" Even though I'm just a pup with my best years ahead of me, they told me my time was quickly running out. Lucky for me, I was saved in the nick of time when my rescue and foster angels stepped in to save my life. Once my foster dad became my savior, I was introduced to all sorts of fun things like car rides. I was able to stick my head out the window and let my ears flop in the wind to my heart's content. "Where to" I asked? My foster dad always surprised me with new and exciting adventures like hiking trails and the parks. I thoroughly enjoy playing with other dogs including my fellow fosters. I don't have a mean bone in my body so I meshed well with my daddy's personal doggy and three other foster pups. To parents, I would say I'm a super sweet, abundantly cute and a rather mellow gal. I enjoy car rides, walks and play time with other pups. I'm a submissive girl who doesn't look for trouble and will back down at the first sign of confrontation. I'm definitely a lover and not a fighter. I like to snuggle on the couch or bed when I'm unwinding for the day. I've been crate trained and have learned to do my business outside. I walk relatively well on a leash although I could probably use some obedience training to learn basic commands and maybe also meet a new pup friend or two along the way. My foster dad wanted to give me a taste of the good life so he spoiled me with treats and toys o'plenty. These included but were not limited to: bully sticks, bully braids, and chew hooves. I really enjoyed living with my foster dad in Florida for the past few weeks and I know he misses me greatly already. Since I'm such a super special gal it was really hard for him to let me go. I really appreciate everything he and my rescue have done for me. I'm also grateful to Save a Dog for giving me this opportunity to get adopted by a loving family so that I can enjoy a long and prosperous life in the scenic New England suburbs! Apply at http://www.saveadog.org/applytoadopt.asp. I'll be available around 8/27/19. I would love to spend Labor Day weekend with you!

Adopted

Mulberry weighs 15#. These Bloodhound mix pups will need house training, proper socialization, puppy classes and lots of love. Local adopters are given preference as we will not send young puppies very far away. We prefer stay-at-home or work-from-home adopters. Please apply online on our web site at http://www.saveadog.org/applytoadopt.asp and we will be in touch for private showings if your application matches our criteria. No phone calls please. You must have an application on file. We follow a holistic protocol which is healthier for the pups. First vaccines will be administered prior to adoption, but vaccines do not guarantee immunity so they must keep at home for at least two weeks subsequent to vaccines as each vaccine suppresses the immune system. All pups are sent home with 30 days free Trupanion pet insurance.

Adopted

Prissy is a puppy, 10 weeks old, Shepherd/Lab with other breeds thrown in. Prissy is about 10 lbs, loves other dogs, people and is full of energy. She has been in foster care since she was found in a rural area, just wandering about when she was 4 weeks old. Foster has had her for about 6 weeks now. The rescue coordinator who drove her here said, "Prissy is so sweet; she loves her ears rubbed; she is vocal and will tell you when she is not getting enough attention. During the drive she would let me know when she had to go potty. She would bark and keep barking til I stopped and took her out. She is crate trained and house broken." So smart for such a young pup! She gets along great with other dogs, she likes to wrestle and really loves to be held." Available Sat the earliest, Aug 31.

Sable, ~ 7 months Female Lab Retriever  Mix

Adopted

Hi, Meet Sable, a 7 month old black Lab looking for her forever home. She's a lovely dog, a young dog with a stunning shiny black coat. She is super playful and friendly with all dogs and people. She is obedient. She is crate and leash trained. She had very little free time in the home but what time she had she was a good girl. She loves attention. She was a favorite with the other fosters and when meeting small dogs she can be a bit bouncy and puppyish. She likes car rides, walking and going to the park. She is a very sociable dog. She walks with a lab swagger. She looks like part lab and looks like a little hound mix in her face but as she grows her face could fill out more and be a true lab. Time will tell. None the less she is super sweet and never should have ended up in a high kill shelter but thank the Lord she's going to find an awesome home. Please apply online at http://www.saveadog.org/applytoadopt.asp. I'm not one to sit home in a crate all day with just a lunch break, so please have the time and attention to give to me. Training is a requirement for dogs adopted through Save A Dog. Available 8/15/19.
