I weigh approximately 26 lbs and was discovered by a friend of Save A Dog in a shelter in WV. I am fine with other dogs and am used to being handled. In the shelter i was so scared, but when they came and picked me up and held me, I calmed right down. Now I have some bald patches from flea dermatitis. My breed mix just doesn't handle fleas very well. I don't have fleas now. I was also matted and in bad need of a grooming. I landed well with Save A Dog as my care will be holistic from here on out. Dog. He's a local dog who lost his home when his owner moved. He knows some commands, Paw, Sit, and Down and has agility or service dog potential as he's very agile and very smart. Max is chipped and up to date on vaccines and neutered. He's a great dog who likes to have his people closeby. He was adopted in March and had a seizure so was put on potassium bromide, which caused some disturbing side effects, so we've weaned him off and he's back on the remedies that worked well before his adoption. He absolutely needs a holistic-minded adopter who will work with us on the holistic approach of homeopathy. Max lived with cats and mostly ignored them but would sometimes try to get them to play and is now frisky with them. He's lived with dogs and is great with kids. An entire girl scout troop met him and he was great. His only issue has been the seizures and the resulting harmful effects of the pharmaceutical. Penny, 15 months Female Collie/Retriever/Beagle  Mix   Click on picture to enlarge Adopted Penny is aprox 15 months old and weighs 30 lbs. She has the most winsome, friendly personality of any dog you'll ever meet. She is just a pup herself, but she had puppies. She never tired of them. Penny has been the best Mom to her 8 precious puppies. She is very playful and attention loving and is good with other dogs and cats. She loves people of all ages and loves hugs and kisses!!! She enjoys riding in the car, going for walks exploring new places. She enjoys having lots of toys and a nice soft doggie bed to sleep on. She ignores cats as well as the guinea hens that roam freely on the property in Indiana where she was fostered. She is about the same size and temperament as Foxy, who was a very popular dog last week. Penny, through no choice of her own, ended up in a high volume shelter in Ky where if no one came for her she was going to be euthanized along with her newborn puppies. Fortunately a KY vet stepped forward to accept them and help get them into a rescue. Penny and the puppies came to IN to be fostered by a SAD foster until they could continue their journey on to MA and SAD. Because she needed to nurse her pups, crate training has not been an option. She has done well during her time spent inside but will need training to fine finish her house training skills. She is a quick learner and so eager to please that she will learn things quickly.
