At 43 lbs. she is the perfect size - small enough to cuddle on the couch with you. She lived with other dogs her whole life and is submissive, sweet, and absolutely adorable. Her owner was an elderly lady who was caring for eight dogs and could barely care for herself. She finally had to go live with her son and LAMA in Lousiana took in the dogs. They are at capacity so we are helping take some of their dogs even though we are full as well. Okie, 5 years Male Plott hound  Mix Click on picture to enlarge Adopted UPDATE: The X-rays show abnormalities to the leg including the hip so likely he was born with this condition. He's currently getting chiropractic adjustments and will need ongoing chiropractic care to support his legs and balance. The other best news is that he has an adopter in the wings, woo hoo! Okie is a sweet Plott Hound who was rescued and cared for a man who didn't have the means to treat his leg so he was brought to a shelter in Louisiana who also is hurting for funds and have an overcrowding situation. Okie is now at Save A Dog! He has a dangling leg so needs a work up.. We appreciate donations to help with Okie's transportation and care. Penny, 8 months Female Lab/Whippet  Mix Click on picture to enlarge Adopted Penny is a 29 lb. petite Lab mix who is 8 months old. She could have some Whippet or another small breed. She's very sweet! Jenny, Penny, and Oreo are three siblings that were found by a good samaritan that brought them to LAMA, our sister rescue in Louisiana. This rural area is a known dumping ground for unwanted dogs - and these three are lucky that a kind human helped them. They were underweight on intake, but have gained weight and are perfectly healthy. They are at an age, 8 months, where they are easy to house train and can sleep through the night, but are young enough to be very puppy-like and playful! They are adaptable and personable. They have a friendly nature that will help them transition into a home where they can each blossom into a great dog! They have been with each other for a long time, which is great because puppies learn not to bite from their littermates, so these should have nice soft mouths, and should be kid-friendly! They are now ready for adoption and are coming up to Save A Dog on January 9th and available after their vet exam on the 12th. They are spayed and seem full grown, but could grow a little more.
