Gypsy, 11 years Female Corgi/Beagle Mix  Adopted
Gypsy is an eleven year old beagle/corgi mix who caught our eye when we were on a mission trip to help some WV humane societies. She was living in an outside pen with many other dogs and she looked at us with such an intense, haunting look, we could not forget her face and her look of desperation. We moved heaven and earth and got sponsors for her and finally the little darling is with us. It is like a dream come true that this sad little dog could have the chance at a happy home. She is friendly despite her ordeal and deserves to be sitting by the fire or at your feet watching TV. Will you be the angel who adopts her? We know you won't be disappointed. She's one of our all-time favorites. We want to thank her sponsors for your angelic work of giving this dog an opportunity to be in a home. Update: she is so happy after getting her bath and she loves our home cooked food. We're really pouring on the TLC for this poor baby. Much thanks to I told her that we would add her info to Gypsy’s info – We want to thank Furry Essentials Grooming Salon and Day Spa, 1078 West Boylston Street, Worcester, for her pro bono grooming. She smells lovely now. Update: Gypsy has been coming into her own lately and has quite the personality. She loves to go for walks and wags her tail all the way. She receives a diet that includes fresh food and supplements as well as fish oil to help with her skin and coat.

Tippy, 8 years Female Spaniel/Beagle Mix  Adopted
Tippy is an 8 year old spayed female beagle/spaniel mix weighing 26 lbs. She is crate trained and paper trained, but was never house broken by her elderly owner who did not have the energy to teach her. She are working on the house training and she's doing really well. Tippy is a very affectionate dog who is friendly with everyone and may extend a paw to ask for more if you stop patting her head. She is an adorable dog and as affectionate as they come!

Wilma, 3 months Female Cocker Spaniel Mix  Adopted
Wilma is a cocker mix pup 3 months old, about 7 lbs. Not spayed yet. Curly ears. She is just about the cutest puppy we've ever had. She is like watching the Lady and the Tramp. She is just DARLING. Wilma's WV foster mom writes the following about her: Wilma is a little beauty. She was one of 7 siblings born to a stray mom at a construction site. Fortunately, the people building the house called us and we came and got the pups. Our foster says Wilma and her sibings are well behaved and very playful. She is black with curly ears and a winning personality.

Abby, under 2 years old Female Chinese Crested
Abby

Adopted

Abby is a beautiful full-bred (hairy) hairless Chinese Crested female who came to us after losing several owners. Her first owner lived out of her car and the friend who took them in kept her along with her sister in a barn. She is approximately 2 years old and needless to say, is not well socialized. Once she warms up, she becomes the love of your life. Her favorite sport is stuffed animal hunting and he favorite leisure activity is to nestle into a laundry basket filled with towels just out of the dryer. She has a bubbly personality to those she knows and gets along great with other dogs. She is not a dog to get as a companion for another dog as she prefers people. She needs socialization, so a home business with people coming and going all day long might be too much, too soon. She has a lot of charm and a boatload of personality and smarts and deserves a great home. She is good with small dogs and most Crested also love cats. Please be experienced with this breed. Update: Abby is just coming out of heat, so has a spay appointment on the horizen.

Alicia, 7 months Female Australian Shepherd / Shepherd  Mix

Adopted

Alicia is a seven month old Aussie/Shepherd mix. Alicia is an energetic, smart, and fun pup who loves running, chewing on toys, jumping on her doggie housemate, swimming in the river, playing playing playing! She is Velcro, comes when called, housebroken and just a lovable little dog. She is crate trained, good eater, full of puppy fun. As she is still mouthy, (but hey, she is just 7 months old and still teething!) little kids might not be the best fit right now, but she is perfect for any active family. Quiet in the house and energetic outside, she is a great companion who will make sure you get your exercise along with her! She is medium-sized and already spayed and ready for her new home. She is very playful with other dogs and loves kids. She goes to work with her foster mom and can be seen in Carlisle, MA once we receive your application.   Darby, 5-7 years Male Toy Poodle
Darby

Adopted

Darby is a 5-7 year old Silver toy poodle who is very timid at first. He was raised in a kennel environment so is very timid when you first meet him. He did not get very good care as he recently had 20 teeth removed. He is delicate, about six to 8 lbs. W'e're looking for a very experienced adopter who has worked with small breed timid dogs before. There is nothing aggressive about him. He needs time and experience and someone who will let him blossom on his own terms and on his own time table. He is puppy pad trained. He will not be at our meet and greet events, but can be seen in his foster home once we have reviewed your application. He is fine with dogs and cats. Not raised with children. Apply at www.saveadog.org

Justin, 5 years Male English Setter
Justin

Adopted

Update: Justin has a home lined up. All the training paid off, thank you sponsors, especially Kate Bergquist, our fairy Dog-mother. He is going to live with a family who has other English Setters and will work as a bird dog on occasional weekends. We are so grateful to Quinnebaug Kennels for helping to mold Justin into an adoptable dog. We can't imagine where he would have ended up without this partnership of experts and supporters. Thank you all VERY much! Justin is a gorgeous English Setter who is looking for a good home. He was a West Virginia stray who was rescued by Save A Dog and brought up to Massachusetts for adoption. He was thought to be older, but his trainers think he's more like five years old. The breed has the energy level of a much younger dog and his exuberance and lack of training kept him from being adopted. so we sent him to a one month training camp especially geared for bird dogs and now he heels beautifully. We need someone experienced with dog training so that he does not lose the training we put into him. He is available to be seen immediately in CT, not far from the Hartford area. He loves to be outside and seems happiest outside running around with his head high and tail sailing in the wind.

Qualified applicants can apply at www.saveadog.org or call 508-877-1407 if you are interested.

Adopted

Phillipi is a young male pup who has a gorgeous coat. He is one of a litter of lab mix puppies. He is very mellow, especially for a puppy. He likes the water and lazying around on the porch. He has one paw that is white with black specs. His birthday is 6/1/07 and he is a beautiful dog who has the most amazing healthy and thick shiney coat. To know him is to love him. He is in a foster home and can be seen at our next Meet and Greet.

Rascal, 2 years Male Cairn Terrier  Mix
Rascal

Adopted

Rascal is a two year old Cairn mix who weighs 13 1/2 lbs., is neutered, and has short little legs and an underbite. He was housebroken and puppypad-trained before we got him. Now he is also crate-trained and will go on the puppy pad. He was relinquished to a WV humane society in March when his owner's wife died. He was very timid when we got him and spent 2 1/2 days hiding. He never tried to bite. I finally moved furniture and got him, and he got up on my lap, licked my face, and has been fine since. He is very active and can jump like you won't believe! Jump and jump and jump and jump and jump! He's not been around kids, so is very shy with them.

Sandy, 11 months Female Lab/Rottweiler  Mix
Sandy

Adopted

Sandy is a fun-loving, sweet and very loyal lab mix who has a little heart-shaped marking on her face and dew claws like a Rottie. She is a little less than a year old. She is a doll baby and will be the love of someone's life. She is great in her crate, quiet and well behaved in the house and outside she loves to run around, chasing a ball or a stick. She mainly loves to be with her people. See the picture of her with our teen volunteers. They absolutely adore her and the feeling is more than mutual. She would be a great dog for a young person who likes to hike or do outdoor activities on the weekends. She will be your best friend for life. She has a heart of pure gold. Background: She was found playing on a busy road with no collar or tags and the finder tried to locate the owner but was unsuccessful. He became very attached to her, but has two dogs of his own as well as other animals. She played well with his dogs and at first she chased the cats, but then she was fine with them. She knows Sit and Stay (although her attention span is like a typical puppy). She is very good with kids and the neighborhood kids would stop by to play with her. She also seems housebroken as she had no accidents in the house. The man who found her sought us out as he did not want her to end up in a shelter. She is a nice dog and will make a great companion for someone. She's also very quiet and well-behaved in the crate.

Shelby, 12 weeks Female Dalmation  Mix
Shelby

Adopted

Shelby is a 12 week old female Dalmation who is the smallest of a litter of Dalmation pups we recently placed. She has been in foster care with one of our volunteers who was going to adopt her, but the woman had a change in working hours, so she is now available. She is almost house broken and is also crate trained. She is playful and adorable, feisty with other dogs, but extremely playful. She's a smart pup who would love a permanent home. Please have the time and know-how for this darling little pup.
