Jenny, 5 mons Female Black Lab MixAdopted |
|
Jenny was dropped off out in the country with her sister Penny and left to fend for themselves
until a nice family called the dog warden to bring them to us. They are about 5 mos old. Both
are a little scared, probably because they were chased off from several places, but they wag
their tails and come to us looking for attention. They love to run and play with each other
and are very quiet and submissive girls. Great with other dogs.

Brooklyn, 2 yrs Female Plott Hound Mix Adopted |
|
Brooklyn is a two year old female Plott hound who came to us from rural WV. She is VERY affectionate,
very gentle, good on a leash, quiet and non-destructive when left alone (very quiet in general -- a few
minor howls when first left by herself and then fine).
A real couch potato, happy to snooze all day on a dog bed. Perfectly fine with other dogs.
She'll make someone a great companion! She does try to chase the cats so we're not sure if she
would hurt them, but let's not try.

Nicki and Vinnie, 7 1/2 years Male Coton de Tulear Adopted |
|
These two beautiful brothers are Vinnie and Nicki, 7 1/2 year old coton de tulears.
Their owners must move, and now these boys are looking for a loving home together
to spend their adult years. They are 13 1/2 and 10 1/2 pounds, healthy, and love to
snuggle with their people. They have done wonderfully with grandchildren, and are
housetrained and crate trained. They have not been around cats, so a no cat home
would probably be best.

Autumn, Female English Setter Adopted
|
Autumn is a beautiful, female (spayed), tri-color English Setter, 5 years old and 43 lbs, being re-homed due to a divorce. She is the smaller version, the Llewellin Setter, which was bred for the field. You won't find a dog with a sweeter disposition. She's a true lady with impeccable house manners; also crate trained. She gets along extremely well with other dogs and was raised with a toddler, so she would be fine with children, young and old. She is a little too interested in cats, so a catless home would be best. True to her breed, she's high energy outside and low key inside (melts into a marshmellow when you pet her). She loves to go for walks and can play frisbee for an hour straight -- very proud of herself when she catches it on the fly -- and would make a great running partner (with a little leash training). She is bothered by loud car noises (trucks, motorcycles) and requires a fenced in yard to release her energy. A quiet street with little traffic would be ideal. Please don't overlook this truly wonderful companion. She'll fit right into your home and waltz into your heart. Autumn has been well cared for and well loved and at age 5, this lady is in her prime. English Setters typically live to age 12, and with luck until age 14 or 15!

Baby Bear, 1 yr old Male Lhasa Apso
/ Chow
Mix
Adopted
|
Baby Bear is a one year old male Lhasa mix. He is 25 lbs of fluff and is very friendly and people-centric. He has the Lhasa tail and size, but a black coloring and some black on his tongue, probably from a distant lineage of Chow. He is housetrained, an angel in the car, crates well and is very affectionate with the couple who is fostering him. They say he’s an easy keeper and just adorable. He recently went to the groomers and handled it like a pro. He didn’t mind being pampered at all! Baby Bear is pretty low key and loves to roll around on his back and play with his chew toys.
We’re looking for an adopter who has small dog experience as Baby Bear has shown some fear of large men and nipped at one over six foot guy. He will require professional training to help him deal with any fear issues that are typical of small dogs..

Boomer, 6 yrs old Male Poodle Adopted
|
Boomer II is an adorable apricot poodle, 6 years old, and approx. 15 lbs. He is a little overweight and needs to lose that weight so it's easier on his little joints, but he is a sweet, sweet guy!
His owner had to relinquish him, as she was moving and could not have him at her new home. He gets along with other dogs and cats.

Keeley, 8 weeks Female Wheaton Terrier
/ Pom
Mix
Adopted
|
This sweet little puppy came to us with her littermates and her mom, who is a Pomeranian. She is ADORABLE as she looks! This puppy is only 6 weeks old and will not be ready to go home to a family until they 8 weeks old, but we are accepting applications now. They are adorable, and playful, tho somewhat tentative but very playful VERY VERY sweet like their mother!
They were not socialized early in life, but have made great strides in getting pretty comfortable around people in a short time. They still are a little shy about being picked up sometimes, and other times will come trotting over for pats and attention; they just need some gentle, loving handling to get used to it and to fully trust humans. Because they have not been very well socialized, we woul prefer that these puppies go to homes with no small kids (under 12).
Before you consider applying, please read our puppy adoption guidelines and you can also read about our adoption process on our website as well.

Scotty, 5 yrs old Male West Highland Terrier
Mix
Adopted
|
Scotty is an adorable 5 year old Westie mix. He is sweet and loved attention, enjoys card rides and will make someone a perfect companion.
We would like to adopt Scotty to a home with experience with this breed.
Scottie arrived recently (this picture really doesnt do him justice as it was taken when he was new to the shelter from which we got him and he was a little confused/scared as to where he was). we're not sure if he's housetrained, but on transport for many hours, he was soooo good and more information will be coming soon as he is being fostered by one of our Save a Dog volunteers

|
Frisky, 3-4 yrs Male Yellow Lab
Mix
Adopted
|
Frisky weighs about 45 pounds and came to us with a fractured pelvis from being hit by a car. He is healing well and needs a few more weeks of confinement. Hip Specialist says no surgery is needed now as it's not on his weigh bearing bones. He could have early arthritis due to the fraction and possibly when he's FHO surgery when older. He's 3 years old and is very friendly though and loves attention. He is good with dogs and cats, has lab energy so will need a large yard with fencing to keep him from a repeat of his injury. You can meet him at our meet and greet on 4/30/05 at Especially for Pets in Wayland from 11-1 PM.

Legacy, 2.5 years Female Beagle Adopted
|
Legs is very calm, easy-going and low maintenance. She's happy hanging around me in the house or sniffing around outside. Like most Beagles, she needs a fenced-in yard to sniff to her heart's content. She ADORES children and lights up around them -- would be fine with little ones. She's a snuggler who loves to to be petted and has the most gorgeous face, with beautiful big brown eyes. Leggs is very well-behaved in the house and is housebroken and crate trained. She's also is terrific with my dog (basically ignores him or plays if interested). Leggs was bred to be a hunting dog, but due to complications, had to be spayed and can no longer compete. She's enjoying her new life as companion and will be a great addition to the right family. What a sweetheart!
She has had all her shots....including rabies....and has been de-wormed regularly...and is already spayed....is crate trained and travels well

Morgan, Female English Coonhound
Mix
Adopted
|
Morgan is a lovely female lemon colored hound who sat in a WV shelter for a few months before coming to Save A Dog. She is the picture of beauty and calmness, is well behaved on leash and very affectionate as well. What a gem! She seems housebroken, loves to play with other dogs and is just an all around dream dog.

|
|
Shiloh, 4 mons Female Shepherd
Mix
Adopted
|
Shiloh is a very sweet 4 month old Shepherd mix. She is just as
affectionate and lovely as you can imagine any puppy would be. She is very
thin so the shelter thought she could have some Dobie in her, but we think
maybe she's just underweight. She will need to put on some weight before
she's spayed, but you are welcome to meet her now once we receive your
application.

|
|
Velvet, 7 years old Female Black Lab
Mix
Adopted
|
Velvet is a loving, well-behaved girl who becomes your best friend almost immediately. She is good with other dogs, as well as cats, and walks well on a leash. She also seems to enjoy riding in the car and taking walks. Wherever you are, she wants to be! And she's housebroken as well as crate trained.
She was found in West Virginia with a doggy friend dragging a deer carcass across the road. But with only a week under her belt in Massachusetts she's already been spayed and had all her shots. Won't you consider this "older" dog as your best friend?
