Sheena, 2 years Female Beagle/Lab Mix Adopted
Alone and pregnant, she was tossed out on a country road. She had her pups and a kind rescue angel took her in. Sheena is the 2 year old mother dog to Zelda and other pups we have placed. Now it's her turn. She is spayed, vetted, and ready to come up to be adopted. She is around 35-40#. Good with other dogs and people. Look at that sweet face. Who could resist! Look at her with Rascal. She's working on a bone with Rascal lying right next to her. Both dogs did just fine.

Cricket, 10-12 yrs Female Cairn Terrier Mix Adopted
Cricket is a 12 yr old Cairn terrier mix who was relinquished by a woman who was living in a women's shelter. She has a spunky personality and a little spring to her walk and is just the darling of Save A Dog right now. She weighs about 13 lbs. She deserves a loving retirement home where she can be someone's little princess.

Thank you to the rescue angels who sponsored her surgery.

Alvin is all black and has medium length hair. He is from a litter of 8 pups whose mom was a Lab and dad we're not sure about. Some look to be Shepherd mix, some Collie, and some beagle. There are 7 males and one female. They are all as sweet as can be, up to date on vaccines, and soon ready for adoption. We offer 3 free Puppy K classes in Sudbury for adopters of puppies.

Ariana, 9 weeks Female Border Collie / Corgi  Mix
Ariana

Adopted

Ariana is the little black runt of the litter. She is one of a litter of pups who came up on an Indiana transport. They were taken directly from their owner to a foster home until they were old enough and then brought up to Mass. They are adorable and lively and seem like they're going to be small dogs. They said the mom was a small lab and the father was a border collie. They are not lab, unless very watered down. One pup has a corgi-like foot so we're thinking maybe some corgi. We can't guaranty size or breed, but they are pretty small. They were on Nutro puppy food and we're switching them to Merrick Puppy Plate, which has organic ingredients and no imported ingredients. We also recommend putting enzymes and probiotics and vitamin C to build up their immune systems. Right now they are fat and healthy, but they are young so a bit fragile still. Please come meet them on Saturday the 19th at Especially for Pets in Sudbury from 2-4.

Bailey, 3 years Male Golden Retriever  Mix
Bailey

Adopted

Bailey is a 3 year old Golden Retriever who is still with his owner. He is being relinquished due to a serious illness in the family. He is very loving and a sometimes timid big baby. He's a lover not a fighter, is crazyabout balls will play as long as you can toss it. Does well with kids loves to be patted. Not raised with children so teens would be best. Loves the water play's well with other dogs but is very submissive. Enjoys car rides (needs to have a ball in his paws, just in case you want to play.) When being pet he likes to push up against you to get as close to you as he can, he will even lay on top of you and squish you.

Bernie, 6 months Male St. Bernard  Mix
Bernie

Adopted

This is Bernie. His paperwork says St. Bernard and we can see some Saint in him, but also maybe Lab/Bassett. He is around 6-7 months old and weighs 63 #. He is good natured, friendly with people, other dogs and loves kids. the vet's 1 1/2 yr old son was all over him, hands in Bernie's mouth and Bernie loved it and was very gentle with him. We will require a fenced in yard for him. He will be at the Meet and Greet this Saturday, the 26th, at Especially for Pets in Wayland from Noon to 2 PM. Blog from 1/19: Bernie arrived last night and what a gorgeous dog! He is a giant of a pup. He's already shepherd sized with humungous paws, so I have him in the largest crate I can find. He is to DIE FOR! Gentle, playful with little Casper and when outside he leaps right over Brandy. It's a riot to watch. I love them all already. -shirley

Brandy, 4 months Female Collie/Lab  Mix
Brandy
Brandy

Adopted

This is Brandy. The vet thinks she is around 4 mo old. She is very cute, friendly and VERY playful. She never meets a stranger. She has been fine with all the dogs she's being fostered with in TN. She is not an old person's dog or for someone wanting a couch potato! She was tossed out behind a Dr.'s office in a rural town in Tennessee and they asked the rescue group to take her. Blog. Brandy is here and she is adorable! She's much bigger than we thought so we upped her size on the description to large. She is a big puppy with big paws, doesn't know her own strength, is very joyful and boistrous. She is soo cute.

Brody, 5.5 months Male Boxer/American Bull Dog/Lab  Mix

Brody   Brody

Adopted

Brody is 5.5 mos old and was relinquished because the family also rescued a Pug puppy and the pug was no match for him in playing. At first we thought he was pit bull but he is much larger and is growing like a weed and he has an underbite just like a boxer or American Bulldog. He is full of puppy energy but would be no problem for an experienced owner. In short order he has become crate trained, house broken, can sit and give the paw. He is strong, of course, and might be too much for small children. He plays well with other dogs. He is currently being fostered, and is doing well with the other dogs in the house. He has been introduced to cats, but hasn’t quite decided on them yet. He is all black, dark eyes, sleek and handsome. He deserves a permanent home, so someone who can provide permanency and a lifetime of love is going to be a great match for him. He is up to date on vaccines.

Casper, 3 months Male Terrier  Mix
Casper
Casper

Adopted

Casper is a white pup with a turned up nose. Pug? Boston Terrier? We don't really know what he is but he's got dainty feet and doesn't seem to be a dog who will get very big. Blog: Casper arrived last night (Sat 1/19) and is too adorable for words. He's a little guy, about 20 lbs if that, and plays with Bernie, the Saint, like he's a sib. This pint-sized dog has a lot of personality and is very affectionate too. He is a snuggle bunny and will be spoiled rotten by whoever adopts him.

Coco, 3 years Female Chocolate Lab  Mix
Coco

Adopted

Coco is a choc. Lab that is 3 yrs old. She loves to play ball and is fine with other dogs. She is cute, friendly, playful, fully vetted and will make a good family dog. I think she is housebroken. Got her from animal control when her owner promised God that he would get rid of Coco if his cat came home. Coco could not have been the cause of the cat leaving....she had been with the cat since she was a pup. Anyway, she is scheduled for transporting up to MA in mid-Jan.

Dixie, 2 years Female Chinese Crested
Dixie

Adopted

Dixie is a spayed female 2 year old hairless Chinese Crested dog. She weighs six lbs and just adorable. Like any little dog, she will bark when visitors come, but she warms up quickly. She has to wear little coats in the winter and comes with a little wardrobe and her own bed. She has very pink skin and is sensitive due to being sunburned at a young age. She is on the raw diet mixed with some dry dog food. We feel she would do best on the raw and on supplements for her skin. Please be familiar with the breed as they need special care and the hairless breed is not for everyone.

Honey, 4 years Female Golden Retriever / Shepherd  Mix
Honey

Adopted

Honey is golden shepherd with black on her muzzle. She had to have surgery to close up a large neck wound. The story is that she was found in the woods by a hunter with the wound. He thought it was a gunshot wound, but the vet said she probably got cut on some barbed wire. She is around 35# and friendly. Foster mom in TN says: She is very friendly with me, Barbara and the vet staff....even the day she was brought to me. I picked her up and carried her to the car and she had a 6"- long, deep cut to her neck and had to be in a lot of pain. She did not offer to growl or snap at me. Dr. Everett said such a wound would have put a person on their backside. She said dogs can apparently withstand more pain than people seem to! I have had Honey with three other dogs that she did not know and she has been fine with all of them. This is about all I can tell you other than every time I am with her in the pen, she will leave her food to get attention from me. I sometimes hold her food bowl to get her to eat rather than stick to me for attention. Not too long after I brought her home, I hugged her and she yelped, but did not snap or try to hurt me. I think I put too much pressure on her incision that was still sensitive....so, I don't think she is snappish. Honey will be arriving on 1/19/08 and will be available after her vet exam. We are asking for help with her vet bills. Blog: Honey arrived last night (1/19) and was so scared we had to gently coax her out of the crate. Once out, she was a different dog. She licked our faces and went belly up for a tummy rub. She seems to be a submissive dog who might have some fear issues from her past. She obviously had a rough life, but is a very sweet dog despite that. Nevertheless, we will be careful to place her with the right owner, someone with recent dog experience. We could picture her with a single woman or with a retired couple who have a quiet life and can take her for walks and treat her gently. She will be a very loyal dog, for sure, as she is desperate for "her person" and looks at you with the most soulful eyes. From afar, she doesn't look like much, but when you meet her up close and personal, she will melt you with those eyes. Her muzzle is a little gray so we're putting her at 4 years old.

We offer 3 free Puppy K classes in Sudbury for adopters of puppies.

Nikita, 4-5 years old Female Australian Shepherd  Mix
Nikita

Adopted

Nikita is an Australian Shepherd who is coming up to MA in late December. We're pretty sure we already have a home for her with a local family. She needs a few sponsors as she lost a leg when she was attacked by other dogs on the property where she was housed. She is a people dog and is wary of other dogs so will need some training as well. Thanks in advance for helping this dog to make her way up north and into her loving home. Note: She was adopted directly from the humane society to an adopter of our choosing (we did the home visit, references, etc.).

Adopted

Update: Rascal had an adoption in progress, but he didn't work out as he ignored the other dog and sought attention from the people. He is so affectionate, he will make a wonderful companion for someone. Rascal is a Golden retriever mix who was born in October 2006. He is a young, playful, friendly dog who is being fostered in Newton and will be at our Meet and Greet this weekend. He loves kids and was being fostered in TN with an eleven year old boy. He can be shy with other dogs, but never aggressive. He is being trained by our teen volunteers and is doing fantastic. The picture doesn't do him justice as he has a beautiful coat and a labby look to him. Please come meet him on Sat, the 26th at Especially for Pets in Wayland from 12-2 PM. He was given to a young boy last Xmas as a present. When Rascal grew out of the little cute puppy stage and the kid got involved in sports, he did not want or have time for Rascal. They took him to the grandparent's house and put him outside in the back yard on a long run. He went into foster care in July. He is a very good dog. The previous owner said he is golden ret/yellow lab mix. He is not hyper like a young lab......in fact if dogs are playing too rowdy, he will get on his dog house and watch! He is okay on a leash....could use a little more practice, good in the car, partially housebroken. He is playful and friendly and loves puppies! He's also great with other dogs. Here he is with Sheena, both sharing bones.

He loves to play with the other puppies and is very affectionate to people. He is ready to leave his littermakes and join his new family. He's been to one obedience class and did fantastic. He will be going to class 2 hopefully with his new owner. This pup is from a litter of 8 pups whose mom was a Lab and dad we're not sure about. Some look to be Shepherd mix, some Collie, and some beagle. There are 7 males and one female. They are all as sweet as can be, up to date on vaccines, and ready for adoption. Thumbellina is an adorable girl who is playful and affectionate with everyone she meets including her foster sister lab mix. She is crate-trained and stays quiet in her crate all night long without having any “accidents”. Thumbellina is now working hard on her house training. She loves to romp in the snow especially while wearing a warm coat. She enjoys chewing on sticks, snuggling on somebody’s lap, and watching different programs on /Animal Planet/. Come and meet her on Sat, the 19th, at Especially for Pets in Sudbury. She is the only female in a litter of 8 pups whose mom was a Lab and dad we're not sure about. Zeb is a gorgeous Lab/Shep mix pup. He's smart and very sweet. He loves the snow. His pictures don't do him justice. When you meet him you will fall in love. He wants to leave his littermates now and be with his forever family. He has a gorgeous medium length coat and big paws so we think he will be a big boy but calm once he gets through his puppy months. This pup is from a litter of 8 pups whose mom was a Lab and dad we're not sure about. Some look to be Shepherd mix, some Collie, and some beagle. There are 7 males and one female.
