Adopted

Update: Annabell got adopted and is now called Zoe! This sweet, black retreiver mix mom came into an overcrowded southern shelter. Nice dog, sweet, weighs 60# or so. She is an owner surrender...along with her huge, scared never handled 9 month old puppy, Ollie, who will come up once he is handled a little more. Annabel is an even tempered dog, very mellow and well behaved. She is good natured, good with other dogs and adults and kids. She will be at our Meet and Greet on Saturday, the 19th, at Especially for Pets in Sudbury from 3-5 PM.

Belle, 1 year Female Lab / Terrier  Mix
Belle

Adopted

Belle is a one year old female Yellow Lab mix who was rescued from WV. She could be mixed with some pit bull, but don't hold that against her. She is a REALLY nice dog, aims to please, loves to play with other dogs, a real sweetie with everyone. Belle is very much a puppy, although she has already given birth to a litter of puppies. The puppies were all given away and she was turned over to a humane society. She has really blossomed since her arrival and plays with Shatzie every day. The two play tug of war with the rope toys and trot side by side with the rope in their mouths. Belle is really smart. She has her favorite toys in the yard and when you let her out she goes to the exact place where she left them. She would love another dog to play with every day, preferably an energetic male. She will do well with consistent training and she will be a great dog for the right person who will train her with positive reinforcement training. She has a heart of gold.

Buster Brown, 5 years Male Australian Shepherd / Border Collie  Mix
Buster

Adopted

Buster Brown is finally here. He looks much larger in his picture, but is actually a 40 lb dog. He lived in a dog sanctuary since he was 4 months old. He is now a mature 5 1/2 years and his caretaker says he is FOCUSED, i.e., smart and would make a great agility dog. He strikes us as calm and sweet. He is a quiet housedog and enjoys naps on the couch, but let him outside and he's ready to go! He's just a bit bashful at first with people he doesn't know. He weighs about 40 lbs. and is long-legged with a pretty plumey tail. He is neutered, crate-trained, and has been vaccinated. He is fine with other dogs, although he doesn't pay much attention to them as playmates- he'd rather have a job! He is ok with cats also. He has not been around children, so we're looking for an adult home for him.

Darby, 11-12 weeks Female Boston Terrier  Mix
Darby

Adopted

Darby is a Boston Terrier mix puppy who weighs about 12-15 lbs. She's a larger version of her sister, Patty, and just as nince. She was nine weeks old on 3/21, so will be about 11-12 weeks at the time of her arrival in MA on 4/16/08. She has a naturally docked tail. Please do not call as we do not have the resources to return phone calls on puppies, but we will reply to an application once the dog arrives. She will be at our Meet and Greet on Saturday, 4/19/08 from 3-5 PM at Especially for Pets in Sudbury.

Ebony, 1-2 years Female Spaniel  Mix
Ebony

Adopted

Ebony is a black and white female dog who looks like a pup, but the shelter people thought she was the mom to Jade and possibly Kringles. She also came to me to check me out and to be petted. She stood by me for a while while I petted her and then went about her own business. Was not demanding of my attention, but was friendly enough. Fine with adults and kids. Don't know about cats. She's been playing nicely with all the other dogs and pups in the foster home. She will be at our Meet and Greet on Saturday, 4/19/08 from 3-5 PM at Especially for Pets in Sudbury.

Freddie, 5 months Male Collie  Mix

He will be at our Meet and Greet on Saturday, the 19th from 3-5 PM at Especially for Pets in Sudbury.

Gaines, 1-2 years Male Sheltie  Mix
Gaines

Adopted

Gaines is a 1-2 year old neutered male Sheltie mix. He is young, friendly with people and other dogs. Was dropped in a very rural area and the people wanted to place him. He is precious. Good natured and cute as can be. Loves people, other dogs and seems fine with my cat. He can't get enough petting! Arriving 4/16/08, he will be available after his vet visit on 4/18/08.

Gretchen, 4 months Female Shepherd  Mix
Gretchen
Gretchen   Gretchen

Adopted

Gretchen is an adorable, very smart 4 mo old Shepherd mix pup who is one of the most joyful and inquisitive pups we've had in a long time. There is something about her that is very special. She has a zest for life and a bouncy nature that will keep you smiling and entertained. She can empty a toy box in less than a minute and then will entertain herself for hours playing and playing. She weighs 20 lbs. and even though we put 'large' for a size initially, she's actually going to be more like medium. She's small for a shepherd and does not have big paws. She is outgoing, bouncy, bubbly and happy! Fine with other dogs, friendly with adults and kids. Good personality, good in the car, sweet natured. Was owner turn-in at a shelter. You will not want to miss out on this dog. She is personality plus. No phone calls, please. She is spayed and microchipped. We will reply to applications only. You can meet her in Wayland at her foster home, but we need an application first. You won't be disappointed.

Hanna, 4 years Female Pointer  Mix
Hanna
Hanna   Hanna

Adopted

Hanna is very active but always ready to lie down next to you, or chew on her favorite toy while you're on the computer or fixing dinner. She is about 4 years old, spayed, has had all vaccinations, and been heartworm-tested (negative). She is a medium-sized gal (about 40 lbs.), and those patches are a dark tootsie-roll color, not black. She is housebroken and crate-trained, is quiet at night, and will sit and stay for her food (although she doesn't understand yet that this is necessary at other times....we're working on that!). She does love attention and is eager to please. She would do best in a home where she is the only dog, or where there is just one other dog, larger and older, either sex. She is ok around laid-back cats. She was raised with kids. Arrival 3/30/08, followed by a brief quarantine. She is microchipped.

Hannah, 1-2 years Female Flat-coated retriever  Mix
Hannah

Adopted

Hannah got adopted! Hannah is a young Flat-coated retriever mix who had puppies and was taken in by a rescue person. She is young and active and would love a family. Arrival is 4/16/08 and availability after 4/18/08. She will not stay behind a fence. She will climb out or will pull the wire (chain link fence or woven wire fence) until she makes a hole large enough to go where she wants. She needs to be inside or supervised when outdoors....unless the fence is plank. She is a very sweet natured dog....likes to be petted and will even sit in your lap if you let her! Not a big barker, playful and an all around good dog. Pays little attention to the outdoor cat and she has been close enough to sniff her.

Jack, 2 years Male Lab  Mix
Jack
Jack   Jack

Adopted

Jack is a 2 year old, neutered, friendly, energetic Lab mix who knows some commands and is a good dog. He's completely housebroken, retrieves a bit, is extremely active and loves people attention as well as from other dogs, although will ignore other dogs in the household if they don't want to play. He knows basic obedience commands and learned to like the crate in two days and now will go in it during the day when we are home when he wants to rest. He loves to watch the squirrels and birds outside. He needs a little leash work when he sees other dogs as he gets very excited and pulls. He would do best with a fenced in yard. He was recently hit by a car but recovered without any broken bones. We don't want that to happen again, so please be someone who has the fence and the means to exercise him. He can be seen by private appointment in Wayland. Update: Jack is staying at Best Friends in Sudbury and enjoys doggy daycare. This is his therapy for getting too excited when he sees other dogs. He just loves to play and would be a perfect companion for a female lab who can meet his energy level. He is best in a fenced in yard, not in the city or in a condo, but in a big place with lots of room for running around.

Jade, 3 months Female Catahoula/Pointer/Beagle/Blue Heeler  Mix
Jade
Jade

Adopted

Jade is a mutt. she could have some Catahoula/Pointer/Beagle/Blue Heeler in her but it's really hard to tell. She is not at all hyper at all, but is a sweet pup, who is very submissive with other dogs. She is not a top dog at all. We think that is why she got attacked by a larger dog. She had to have her ear stitched up and will have the cone on for a few more days. She has nice calm personality and is very well behaved. She weighs 22 lbs. Here's her history: A lady found her as a stray running with her mom, Ebony. The kids in her neighborhood played with Kringles, Jade and Ebony without any problems. She is available now and you can meet her once we receive your application. Sponsors welcome too as her surgery costs have already exceeded her adoption fee.

Kringles, 3 months Male Lab  Mix
Kringles
Kringles

Adopted

Kringles is a yellow lab pup. He is here and will be available after 4/18/08. He is pictured here with his brother, Jade, who is in the background. The lady who found them says he is friendly with everyone. He is 3-4 mo old and just a typical playful, energetic puppy. The kids in her neighborhood played with Kringles, Jade and Ebony without any problems. Don't know about cats. He is an incredibly sweet pup, not demanding, not over the top like many labs, but just a nice easy-going pup who walks into his crate after playing outside. He is submissive and a rare find for those looking for a lab without the hyper personality. Kringles weighs 30-35 lbs. He will be at our Meet and Greet on Saturday, the 19th, at Especially for Pets in Sudbury from 3-5 PM.

Lucky, 1 year or so Male Golden Retriever / Shepherd  Mix
Lucky

Adopted

Lucky is a one year old old neutered golden retriever/shepherd mix. He is very happy to go on long walks with his pals, human and canine. He was found half-starved on a rural road in West Virginia. He's actually a little chubby now, but it's only because his foster mom went to Florida and he wasn't getting the exercise. He will trim down as he is a young dog. Will you be that person to take him for long walks every day? He is learning to sit and doesn't jump and comes at a gallop when called!

Lucy, 3 years Female Boxer / Great Dane  Mix
Lucy

Adopted

Lucy is a 3 year old spayed female Boxer/Great Dane mix. She comes from Friends for Life in WV and is a sweet girl. We brought up her sister, Gretel, last year and she is doing great in her new home so we wanted to bring Lucy too and find her a permanent home. She was shy upon arrival but has started to come out of her shell with racing around the yard and playing. She is house trained and up to date on vaccines. We prefer an experienced owner as she is a large dog. She will be at our Meet and Greet, but will probably be very shy so don't let that behavior fool you. She will come out of her shell.

Moses, 1 year Male Cockapoo  Mix
Moses

Adopted

Update: We had so much interest in Moses. Thank you all so much but we found him a terrific home. Moses was found by a family in Tennessee and brought to a humane agency. He is around a year old, neutered, and recently shaved as he was so matted. He is the nicest dog, an unbelievable personality. Friendly with adults, kids and other dogs. Fine with cats as far as we know. Showed up on a doorstep all dirty, matted and skinny. The family took him in and had him groomed. He will be very pretty when his long hair grows back. The vet's office had him there for a week and they all loved him. Said he is a good dog, with a good disposition and is very smart. He loves attention but is not demanding. He will jump straight up in the air to get your attention. He is so smart and very agile. He is a little nervous in the car, but did not get sick or drool on the 1 hr trip to his new foster home. He will be at our Meet and Greet on Saturday, the 19th, at Especially for Pets in Sudbury from 3-5 PM.

Nolla, 11-12 weeks Female Boston Terrier  Mix

Nolla is a Boston Terrier mix puppy who weighs 12 lbs. and was nine weeks old on 3/21, so will be about 11-12 weeks at the time of her arrival in MA on 4/16/08.   Patches, 4 months Male Rat Terrier  Mix
Patches
Patches

Adopted

Patches is as cute as can be and is only 4 months old. He weighs 10 lbs. He and Buttons, his brother, were rescued from a rescuer who was overwhelmed with dogs. They are 4 months old, male, and will be adopted separately. His picture doesn't do him justice. He's so cute! Both love other dogs and are especially respectful of larger and older dogs. They move like are small and fast, so a secure fence or apt with doors in between the outside would be great. They may be fine for a condo/townhouse/apt as they are about 10 lbs now so it is doubtful they will grow to be beyond 40 lbs. Vet says they are at least 16 weeks so they would have been born by 11/25/07 at the latest. So these are going to be pint-sized dogs. Holistic home is preferred for this sweet dog.

Patty, 11 weeks Female Boston Terrier  Mix
Patty

Adopted

Patty is a Boston Terrier mix puppy who weighs about 9 lbs. She is the runt and was nine weeks old on 3/21, so is about 11-12 weeks at the time of her arrival in MA on 4/16/08. Patty has no tail. She will be at our Meet and Greet on Saturday, the 19th, at Especially for Pets in Sudbury from 3-5 PM.

Vinny, 15 months Male Springer Spaniel / Border Collie  Mix
Vinny

Adopted

Vinnie and his sister, Sissy were pulled from an overcrowded shelter just in time. Their story is like so many dogs of the south where dogs run free and breed. It's no life for a dog because they either get hit by cars or brought to a shelter to wait out their death sentence. Everyone wants a young puppy, but these dogs are so adoptable and trainable. Please consider saving a life. Vinnie and Sissy are brother/sister and are springer spaniel/border collie mixes. Vinnie weighs a little more than Sissy, who is 35#. Vinny is missing one ear flap, hence the name (Vincent, as in Van Gogh).

Truffle, 1.5 years Female Standard Poodle
Truffle

Adopted

Truffle is a 1.5 year old spayed female Standard Poodle who is being relinquished because her owner is ill. She is interested in people and warms up and is affectionate - is playful, and likes to be with people and dogs - she loves her stuffed toys - especially her whale and is playful and gentle with smaller animals and playful with dogs her own size - comes with her own bed and covers - learning "sit" "down" "leave it" knows "better go now" "out" answers to her name. She only accepts small dogs, not medium or large as she was raised with small dogs. At the foster home she only trusts the Chinese Crested, nobody else. She has been on a raw food diet and needs to stay on that diet. Owner requests she have a fenced in back yard and other dogs to play with (but they have to be small) as she was raised in an environment with many small dogs and enjoys their companionship.

Tessa, 14 weeks Female Golden Retriever  Mix
Tessa

Adopted

Tessa is a female 14 week old Golden Retriever mix who was surrendered by her owner who thought she was growing too fast. She plays nice with the other puppies and is great in the crate, no accidents, no barking. She has gold eyes that will knock you over. She's a gorgeous dog, totally crate trained, loves squeakie toys. She is much prettier in person than in her photos. You can meet her today if you fill out an application. Just click on Apply to Adopt on our Web site, www.saveadog.org.

Shatzie, 14 months Female Norwegian Elkhound

Adopted

Shatzie is a 14 month old purebred Norwegian Elkhound sweetie who needs a home. She comes from WV and she's very petite at 30 lbs, although she looks larger in the pictures. She's very dainty and you can scoop her up in your arms. She is in a foster home in Framingham and goes to a dog park every day. She plays nice with everyone, is gentle with kids, and loves going for walks in the woods. She is the perfect dog in every way! Housetrained, an easy dog! The first step is to fill out an application. It doesn't obligate you to take the dog, but gives us some background information to give our foster families. Her foster mom says about Shatzie: She's housebroken, doing great with going into the crate, loves all other dogs and people, loves squirrel hunting, doesn't get up on any furniture, and can entertain herself with a toy during downtime. Pretty darn perfect!
