In Memory of Scooter: 3/24/13 - 11/4/24

Dear Save-a-Dog,

Nearly twelve years ago, thanks to your rescue organization, we welcomed Scooter into our lives. Described on your website as “fearless and adventuresome” he certainly lived up to those characteristics his entire life. We could have never anticipated how much joy and absolute love he would bring to the both of us - his dads - and also to every single person who ever had the pleasure of meeting him. As a high school teacher in neighboring Reading, he was well-known to my students over the years, too. Scooter was an icon! Scooter was the ring bearer in our 2017 wedding, moved with us from Connecticut to Maine, and was always by our side.

We lost Scooter on Monday, peacefully in our arms, following a short “bout” of progressive heart failure and tracheal collapse. We feel so blessed that Scooter chose us to be his dads and we are thankful that we were able to see him off to the Rainbow Bridge. We are heartbroken but know that time will eventually heal.

We would like to find out about how we can establish a fund in his name that would help support your organization. Any details you’re able to provide would be greatly appreciated.
