Our visit to the Ritchie County Humane Society |
|
The Ritchie County Humane Society has many dogs for adoption.
Most are living in housing much like the picture above. These dogs need homes and they
could use some financial help as well so that the dogs don't have to.

This little beagle is so endearing. She sat nicely for a treat.
She was rescued and is now in our care as Katie.

This little beagle boy dances for a treat. What a cutie!
Coming up the week of June 24th.
Jeff was adopted by a young couple on the south shore who had always wanted a beagle.

This is Zeus and he can jump three feet straight up in the air. He is so friendly and
energetic. Totally submissive too.
Zeus was brought up to MA by Save A Dog and is now in an agility home. They adore him
and he's their little velcro dog.

Rex? This is a friendly Peke/pom mix. Very cute and friendly,
needing a home desperately. He is five years old and will be coming up the week of the 24th.
Rex came up to MA and was adopted by a family who had lost their pom. He filled their empty
hearts and is now living happily in his forever home!

This was the most patient dog who quietly waited for a treat
by standing on her dog house so she could get a better view. I almost missed her. I almost
forgot about her. But her picture haunted me -- for two months.
See her updated picture and story below.
More Sally pictures, after arrival

Sally finally came to us, two months later, and it turns out she
knows obedience commands such as sit and paw. The first thing she did when she came into her foster
home was to look up at her foster mom and say, "Well, finally, I'm in a real house where I belong.
Hey, didn't I see you at the shelter two months ago? Now tell me, what took you so
long?!" Every time I think of how I almost passed up such a beautiful, smart,
affectionate dog, I want to cry. She's such an awesome dog. How many others just like her are
also waiting to be adopted. These are God's
creatures and deserve a better life than living outside on a chain. -Shirley |

Shirley and Sheila standing in front of flea/tick spray donated by
New England Serum. June was very appreciative and thanks the kind people of New England Serum
for helping her humane society out.
If you would like to help the Ritchie County Humane Society, please send your donations made
payable to the Ritchie County H. S. and mail them to Save A Dog at our PO box and we will
forward them to the shelter manager, June. She works very hard to care for a lot of dogs and
is just now pouring the concrete so that the dogs don't have to sleep on the ground. Let's
help her all we can!
