Dear Family and Friends,
As most of you know, our dog, Wendy, was diagnosed with kidney
failure back in November. For the past 17 weeks she showed remarkable
resilience and spirit, and managed to have a good-but-slower quality
of life, despite the vet's prediction that she might survive only for
2 or 3 weeks after the diagnosis.
For four months she enjoyed her daily walks at the park, the home
cooked meals we made to encourage her to eat, and the company of her
"pack of three."
We had the gift of taking care of her at the end of her life and
learning once again, how precious each minute with our loved ones
(both human and non-human) is. We felt fortunate that her decline was
gradual so that we had ample time to say goodbye--even though it
never feels quite ample enough. We also were so moved--on a daily
basis--by the caring and concern shown to her and us by so many
friends, neighbors, and family. Wendy had quite a little fan club and
it meant so much to us when people would check in with us to see how
she was doing, or offer her some special little treat that then
became her favorite for the next couple of weeks.
Last week Wendy began to weaken considerably and on Wednesday, we
made the heartbreaking decision to have her euthanized. We had the
vet come to the house and we held Wendy in our laps as she died.
Once again, thanks to everyone for helping this difficult time be a
little less so, for all three of us.
Give your animal friends an extra pat today and enjoy the life they
share with you!
With love,
Sol, Lisa, and Wendy
