Tocatta is an Aussue mix puppy who is coming up on 12 weeks old. She is very adorable and VERY smart. Here's an update from her foster mom:
Tocatta is a very sharp little girl and will make some lucky family a great dog. She is doing great with her leash walking and beginning to learn some basic commands (sit, etc,). She's been doing great with her house/crate training. She also lived with 3 kitties for the weekend and was initially interested (not aggressive - just curious), but soon lost interest after she was done have a little sniff.
A little side story - she was playing with one of my dog, Sagey's toy squirrels.
Only when Tocatta was playing with the squirrel did Sagey have an interest in her toy that's be unused for quite some time. They both played with it for awhile (tug of war, etc) before Sagey decided that only she should have the squirrel. Tocatta went into her crate and brought Sagey another toy - it was almost as if she wanted to do a trade
- her toy for the squirrel. My parents were there and we were so impressed Tocatta's intelligence! Much to Tocatta's disappointment, Sagey wasn't interested in the trade :-)

Tony, 14 weeks Male Lab
Mix
|

|
Adopted
Tony is a 14 week old male Lab mix puppy who is full of playfulness and fun. He is the male sibling to Lucinda and Tommy. He was kept behind at the shelter due to kennel cough, but he is well over it now and immune. This litter was labeled Chow mixes because they have some black on their tongue. I would say they are mostly retriever, possibly flat coated retrievers as they have a longer coat than a lab. His head and webbed feet are also retriever. Anyway, he is very labby in his love for water and the snow. He sits when he wants something and is oblivious to the cold. A really nice puppy. Please be someone who has the time for him and if you have young children (10 and under), please have a physical fence.
Tony got adopted and his new name is Zibby!

Adopted
Kermit is a seven month old hound mix. The vet thought possibly English Pointer. He is friendly, playful, and a lot of fun. Kermit is neutered and his foster mom says he is the easiest dog. He is quiet and loves his crate. Because he had a sibling who he had to compete with for toys, he can hoard the toys from other dogs, so we're hoping he can be an only dog or go to a home who is aware of his toy obsession.

Lucky, 1 year Male Chinese Crested
|
Adopted
Lucky is a young Chinese Crested with a lot to offer. He is cute and weighs under 10 lbs. He has had some skin issues that we finally have under control. Ideally if we could find an adopter who could maintain a healthy raw and cooked diet as well as herb supplementation. He does very well with other dogs, and would probably be fine with cats. He really likes to play with little soft toys with squeakers, and uses his paws just like a cat to follow toys when you drag them across the floor. He barks at small or imaginary noises occasionally, but can easily be redirected. He's very affectionate and bonds closely with his person, but he chooses who he loves and doesn't like some people, usually men. Because of his quirkiness, we're seeking an adult home, preferably a single person who is dog-savvy and who wants a dog who is going to be her everything. He is extremely devoted. He loves to plant himself on your lap for lots of hands on attention. He takes a little while to get to know you, but once he does you can pretty much do anything to him. He has exhibited no issues other than a couple of growls in the current foster home, usually when he's not feeling well or has already been pushed beyond his stress threshold. Lucky would make a delightful companion for a homebody, he's not very active, but has lots of love to give and enjoys being with you wherever you go in the house. He crates well when left alone, he cries a little and then settles, and also travels well in the car. He's housetrained and will go the bathroom outside even in the bitter cold if encouraged. He'll make a delightful little companion for the right person. Because he has outstanding medical costs, we are seeking sponsors for him.

Molly, 2 -1/2 years old Female Shih Tzu
|
Adopted
Molly is an adorable, small (pure bred) shih tzu. She is somewhat timid/scared at first, but she had to be relinquished by an owner who loved her dearly but whose health problems made it necessary, as she could no longer care for Molly. Molly is recovering nicely from bladder surgery due to stones. She will have to be kept on a high quality dog food (and treats) for the rest of her life and checked routinely to avoid further bladder infections that might promote stone growth.
Molly would love an all-adult home (no children under 12) with no other dogs or cats. She is a great companion and will give you years of love and devotion in return for the same from you!

Sasha, 4 months Female Lab

Adopted
Sasha is a 4 month old female Lab puppy who is friendly and outgoing and ready for her forever home. She is a really nice dog, mostly Labby but with a little white on her toes. She loves the water and will drink it before it reaches the bowl. Outside she eats snow. She is the right age to be a Christmas puppy return and it makes sense as she is had received no training and was jumping up on everybody when she arrived. She's come a long ways in just a week and has not jumped up in awhile.

Adopted
Tallulah is a four year old Vizla/Beagle cross. She weighs about 30 lbs and has beautiful gold eyes and a cinnamon red coat. In many ways she is the perfect dog. She's house trained, great with kids, loves to play ball and is obedience trained. She is also trained on electric fence as she was digging under the physical fence when left unsupervised. Her family is giving her up because has too much energy for them. We feel she may need a jogger or at least another dog to play with. She has the curiosity of a beagle and is perpetually playful. When her family leaves for the day she can be destructive, or if left in the backyard alone, even when the family members are home. If you have experience with high energy dogs, or have a high energy dog who needs a playmate, please talk to us. She's a sweet dog and is great with kids.

Claire, 11 months Female Border Collie
|
|
Adopted
Claire is an 11 month old female Border Collie who came to us from Indiana. She is young and healthy and just finished her first heat so she will be spayed prior to her adoption. She is a gorgeous dog, willing to please, sits for treats and is pretty good on a recall already (with minimal training). She would make a great agility partner or an addition to an active family with older kids (10 and up). She also loves to play with other dogs, but is not a dog you would get just as a friend for another dog as she really loves and attends to people. She will be spayed on 3/9/07.

Brandy, 3 years Female Lab mix
Mix
|
|
Adopted
Brandy received her name from her first foster home. It comes from the fact that she's been "branded". She has a crude home tattoo on her stomach. What this little girl has suffered no one really knows. What we do know is that she is a very sweet girl, wanting to attach herself to someone. Her foster home experiences have exposed her to children (toddlers), other dogs, and cats. Her first foster mom says: She played well with other dogs, and did fine with our three cats. She's a dog who wants to be where you are. When I took her to the vet for her health certificate check, she was right by my side. She seems to bond very quickly to her caregiver. Due to the fact that she's been kenneled, she may show some initial exuberance to "freedom". However, her foster parents state that when they open the door to walk, feed, etc. that she is only interested in attention. She doesn't try to bolt past them and run away, or anything like that. She rode very well in the car on the way to the vet office. I don't think it will take her long to adjust to a new environment. She truly seems like a dog who wants to please.
She'll be a devoted companion for some lucky person.
This girl deserves a HOME. She would be best with a stay-at-home or someone with flexible hours.
