Hi Shirley & Mary,
Ryan and I just wanted to send a quick update on Tess -- we LOVE her!!!!! She has been
such a joy to get to know and we honestly thank you both every single day for bringing
her up from WV and helping us to adopt her. You saved this dog and I can tell you she's
a much happier dog now.
Her energy level is great, and she gets incredibly excited to take walks. As soon
as we say the word "walk", her eyes twinkle and she wags her tail so hard that it
literally goes around in circles. We've been back & forth with Dr. Meade about her
itching (it got pretty bad), but fortunately, we think this treatment she's on for a
skin infection is finally working. She's basically stopped itching!! Her coat is getting
silkier too. She's still shy around other dogs, but getting better, esp. around the
dogs she sees regularly. Well, there's plenty more stories about how great she is, but
we basically just wanted to thank you again and send some pictures of her from a couple
of weeks ago.....
Hope all is well with you both. Take care & many thanks again,
Ryan & Una

Hi Mary and Shirley,
Let me put in my two cents worth- thank you, thank you, thank you for bringing
Tess up and letting us have a first go at her. We love her, as you can see from
the pictures -- I can't believe Una sent along the picture of Tess and I on the
floor... I can't remember if she was mimicking me or I was mimicking her!
She is a joy, great with the kitties, and very lovable. We have our fingers
crossed on this medication for the skin infection. While we were ready and willing to
begin a long, somewhat costly process of determining her allergies and finding a
remedy, it's much easier if it is just a skin infection, as it has essentially
completely cleared up and will hopefully be cured forever (knock on wood). Tess,
by the way, is a golden retriever by heart for sure-- she is a natural at
retrieving her ball/kong when we throw with her, and she brings it straight back.
Interestingly enough, I think she may have been trained a little down in WV,
because not only does she retrieve, but she very quickly learned to "Release" the
ball and she also gently carries the ball back (I think retrievers are trained not
to bite down hard). I want to work on many more tricks, as she is very willing to
please and I think some good clicker training will be easy for her to pick up.
Well, enough bragging about Tess. This is supposed to be a thank you to you and
your organization. We truly are very indebted to you!!!
Thanks,
Ryan
