We renamed Lovey Sophie. We thought it would be unique but have recently run into a lot of dogs
named Sophie. Sophie does not seem to mind this (she just loves to meet anyone new). We are having
a great time with her. Everyone just loves her (including us).
The only problem we have had is that she definitely developed some separation anxiety (particularly
when I left her) but with help of a combination of things (some time in day care, some desensitization
training, and "counter conditioning" which means basically giving her a kong filled with her favorite
food, turkey) she has been doing better and better.
We are about to graduate from our first training class. Of course I think she was the star of the
class but I am probably biased-- She actually had been taught at some point all basic commands,
but instilling confidence and getting her beyond her fear of doing them was the challenge.
She has made lots of friends in the park near our house--we have a group of doggy friends who meet
We are very glad to have her- she adds a lot to our lives.
Thank you and hope you are doing well!
Happy New Year,
Sarah and Brian
