Hello Shirley,
Well, yesterday it was a year since I adopted Mindy (chocolate cocker
spaniel, from Atlanta rescue) and I wanted to let you know how she is
doing.
Mindy took relatively no time to adjust to her new surroundings. She loves
to run and chase her beloved tennis balls around the house and yard. At
last count there were 9 of them floating around the house and she is very
particular when choosing which ball she wants. If she wants a certain one,
she will hunt the house until she finds it, by-passing several others in
the process. She will spend hours out in the yard just sniffing around
(her Cocker heritage I would guess) and loves to go for car rides.
My Mother recently retired so Mindy has company most of the time. She is a
very affectionate "Velcro" dog. When I am home, she is either on top of me
or within close proximity. She will follow me from room to room and as
long as she can see me, she is happy. She typically sleeps on the end of
my bed, but she always has one paw on my foot or leg all the time. She
just needs to know I am there I guess. She is very smart and let's her
needs be known. When she is hungry, she will sit right in front of you and
lick her lips until you feed her. If you ignore her, she will quietly yip
to you until you pay attention. When I get home from work she will leap on
top of me and "talk" to me for 2 or 3 minutes. It is really quite
something. She has quite a lovable way about her and she is great with my
little nieces and nephews also. They just love to play ball with her and
give her treats.
I am curious to know if you have had any contact from the people who
adopted Murphy, Mindy's mate that was found with her. I
wonder if he is as sweet and lovable as Mindy. If you have had contact
with them, do they live in the area? (Ed note: we are making contact with Mindy's mate.)
Anyway, I just wanted to thank you for finding Mindy and bringing her to
us. We truly could not ask for a better dog. I have attached a few
pictures of her for you.
Again, thank you so much. She has really added so much to our home.
Fondly,
Ann Malloy & Mindy
