We had been looking for a dog for 3 months and just happened to be near PetCo in Natick
when we saw that Save A Dog was there with some dogs needing a home. After looking for a
while I was unsure if there was a dog there that we liked but my husband, Dan, and my children,
Max, 15, and Maisy, 11, kept telling me to look at this dog called 'Mike'. When I saw Mike I
saw a bouncy, energetic dog that was 9 months old, that loved to lick you and I was not
thrilled at the idea of his long coat. Mike was a collie mix, and had beautiful white and
sable fur with a long nose and sticky up brown ears. After a while I liked the idea of a
loving dog with some energy rather than an older dog with no energy level. He seemed to like
the kids and they liked him so we applied right there and went home. Later that evening
we got a call from Save A Dog to say we could have Mike and we were thrilled.
It has been 8 months and Mike is doing great! Yes, he loves to run and needs exercising
but that also gets us out of the house rain or shine! He can't ride in the car as he gets
carsick but we are working on that! He loves to play fethch and plays well with other
kids and dogs. My husband, Dan, has become a child again and they have a very special
relationship. We may need to buy new curtains and kitchen chairs (he chewed them up)
but that's ok as we love him and he is learning now that he is older.
Thanks Save a Dog for finding us! We can't imagine life with Mike now and he is
definitely with a good family!
