Hi Shirley-
Happy Belated Holidays! Wanted to send an update on Mac along with a image that
I love of him done by one of the teenage girls in our riding and driving club. He
is a happy guy! He started agility 2 weeks ago along with clicker training because
we thought it would be helpful for his confidence with new situations. We've noticed
that although he has been exposed to alot of things he has the border collie approach
to life and can be aloof with new people or new experiences. I have been doing lots of
research and we had a private consultation with our trainer to make sure we are on the
right track and we are. The first week he was horrified that he had to go anywhere near
the agility equipment. The second week, after working on clicker training each day and
adding games i.e.walking over broom sticks in the kitchen, he did 3 beginner jumps
( 3 inches off the ground) to a table!!! Wow, were we proud of him! He is a fast
learner and he reads our body language and our minds as border collies do! Next week
we start our post graduate obedience class as well. He loves to do stuff but I would
say his most favorite thing to do is get together with his dog friends! The smile in
the picture is because he had been romping with his 5 dog friends and 6 human friends
at one of his favorite walking spots in West Newbury.
our best to you,
Karen, Doc and Mac

Hi Shirley-
Wanted to give you an update on Mac (formerly Polka) who we adopted in
March. He is doing so well and has lots of dog friends. He is playing with
one of them as I write this. We are amazed at how well he has adjusted and
how SMART he is! Everyone that meets him just LOVES him so he could be the
poster boy for Saveadog (although from the dogs we met through your
organization Mac would have some stiff competition). Mac has completed his
adult citizenship training and we plan to complete the post graduate
course during the summer. I plan to do agility with him this winter. He
really loves going to the horse farm with me and romps with the resident
poodle. Has been on his first "trail ride" with my husband walking him
while I ride and he did very well. I'm going to continue with my husband
accompanying us on the trail ride for this season until I'm sure Mac is
solid with horse/trail etiquette and 100% on recall. He seems more mature
than his young age but I know those "teenage years" are just around the corner!
Looking forward to Paws in the Park in June. Hope all is well with you
and your family.
Thank you again for such a wonderful dog!!!
Sincerely,
Karen Mackey
