Hi Shirley. Hi Wendy. I thought I'd write and give you an update on
Kelsey, the German Shepherd we adopted through you last year.Kelsey has been with us
just a little over a year (since Dec 21, 2002), and she is doing great! What a wonderful
dog. She very quickly became a member of our family. She is fine home alone during the day,
and although she still likes to pester our cat, they seem to have come to an understanding.
And she has been great with the kids and the rest of our family and friends. Protective
at first, but quick to accept anyone once we've let them into the house. We were worried
last year, because we were having about 20 people over for Christmas dinner just 4 days
after we adopted her, but not a problem. It was amazing how well behaved she was with all
those strangers (and food!) around.Kelsey also loves to play in the yard with us, whether
it's chasing squirrels, her rope, a stick, or frolicking in the snow (she loves snow). We
thought we'd have to use a runner when we had her in the yard, but it's proven to be
unnecessary. She stays in the yard with us, and comes when called. If I'm working in the
garden or mowing the lawn, she just lays in the shade and watches me.One reason she was
up for adoption was because her family couldn't give her the exercise she needed.
We typically take three walks each day, going about a mile each time. It keeps us both
trim, and seems to be exactly what she needed.
We love her very much, and can't imagine having a better dog. I've attached a couple of recent photos.
Thanks again for helping us adopt her.
