Dear Shirley, Anne and Chris:
We wanted to give you all an update on how wonderful (Eleanor) Rigby (formerly Solar) is
doing. She has quickly become part of our family, and though it has only been three
months we cannot remember what life was like before her arrival. Rigby wiggled--quite
literally--her way into our hearts immediately, though it has taken the resident king
of the house, Kitty (our ten year old cat) a bit longer to adjust but they are slowly
getting there. As long as they are on opposite sides of the bed at night, Kitty at the
top, Rigby at the end, we are okay. It is hard to tell who the instigator is when there
is a squabble, Kitty acts all put out but he likes to take a swat at Rigby if he thinks
no one is looking!
Rigby has more energy and enthusiasm than any dog I have ever met. She is non-stop.
Nothing slows her down and nothing can put her in a bad mood. We had a bit of an injury
the first month. She cut a pad on her foot in her first snowfall outing and required 5
staples. We could not let her do any kind of activity for a couple of weeks except to
go the bathroom. For those of you who know Rigby you can imagine how excited we were
the first day she was able to run free outside in the yard!! Well, aside from having
to wear the lampshade, going through three bandages (she ate all of them) and almost
tearing her staples out, she is doing great!!!
Rigby loves everyone! There is not one aggressive bone in her body. She plays with my
best friend's large golden Jake, she kisses everyone who enters the house and runs right
up to people we meet on the street. She is the fastest dog out there, and when she is
first let out into the yard, she has a certain pattern she runs at top speed jumping
over imaginary obstacles with leaps like a gazelle!!
We cannot thank you enough for letting Rigby into our lives. She has given us so much
love and words cannot express how much we love her. From trying to scale our six-foot
fence to inundating us with kisses on our arrival home, appointing herself "squirrel
monitor" of the neighborhood, not a day goes by without adventure. What you are doing
is so wonderful and we thank you from the bottoms of our hearts!!
Sincerely,
Tara, Tim, Giullia, Kitty and Rigby McDonald
