Hazel is a 1-2 year old spayed female Basset mix who came to us from a high volume shelter in SC. She is as sweet as can be and loves to be petted. She may have been a lap dog in her previous life as she keeps trying to crawl into mine. The more I look at her, the more she looks like a dachsund. Her energy level is mild. She will run after a ball or squeeky toy but doesn't pick it up. After a few throws, she takes a break and sits down. Typical of a hound, she can be very independent and inquisitive. She definitely likes liver treats, so my guess is that she will be food motivated. She hates being left alone, but seems to have no problems with the crate and is happy to go in when I throw a few treats in. No accidents in the crate. We're hoping for a hound-savvy owner who understands most hounds can never be let off leash.
