Mina, ~ 11 months Female Aussie/Lab/Collie
Mix
|
Mina is a young, medium-sized Aussie mix who was adopted in September, as Mistie, but is coming back as she just wasn't a match for the adopter's resident dog. She's a typical herding dog and the city is no place for herding breeds. At introductions, she comes on as bossy at first, but once she knows another dog, she is fine and they all love her at doggy daycare. Her former adopter says: She adores people, especially men. She's also great with children and babies (though she's also a jumper, so might knock a little one down). She's house-trained, crate-trained, and completely respectful of furniture. She's good at entertaining herself--she can look out the window, chew on an antler, or bat her toys around for hours. She also loves to snuggle and lick. For as much energy as she has, she can settle down quickly. She has also finished a basic obedience class. The problems are that she cannot be in a house with cats or anything smaller and she has herding instincts that make life for other dogs a challenge as she does that nipping, herding behavior. She might be best as an only child, although currently she is being fostered with another male and is doing fine. Please fill out an application if you're interested and we can arrange for her to come to Save A Dog to meet you. See our Web page, Apply to Adopt, for details.
