Jackson, 1.5 years old Male Welsh Terrier
|
Jackson is 1.5 year old neutered male purebred Welsh Terrier. He weighs 17#. He was surrendered by his owner in TN as she didn't have the time for him. His foster mom says he is a hoot and he is so good with people and all the large and small dogs at her house. He just needs to be active. His former owner had him staked outside on a run during the day and tied to his crate at night. We do not want to see him put on a run or tie-out again, please. He has a high "play" drive and the other dogs can grow tired of him. He likes to run and run, play with toys, balls, bully sticks, go for rides in the car. He hasn't been cat tested. He's crate trained and 90% house trained. Great on leash, just lots of energy. Not a dog to sit in the crate while you're at work. From the Welsh Terrier Web site: The right owner is the person who wants a rugged, healthy dog: a bright but quiet companion that's easy to house train, a little more difficult to obedience train, and full of terrier spunk should a stranger knock on the door. The Welsh is good with considerate children, although an older Welsh may feel out of sorts with the arrival of the first baby after years of "Welsh government" in the household. Toddlers do not make good owners of any breed of dog and Welshes are no exception to the rule, although the adult dog can more patient than some other terrier breeds......
Our process is that you fill out the application first, then we will contact you if your application is a match. Please read our guidelines under Apply to Adopt as some dogs require a stay-at-home and some dogs require a fenced in yard. Phone calls are discouraged before the dog arrives as we tend to put down everything we know. If information is missing, it's usually because we don't know yet. :-)
