Adopted

Hi there. My name is Barney and I'm about ~ 1 1/2 years old. I came from Indiana where I became lost and ended up at a small airport where I was picked up and brought to a humane society. They say I have medium to high energy, but I'm also very sweet and like to cuddle.I will try to play with kitties so it's best that I don't go to a home with cats. I like to play with other dogs and I play nice. I'm working on house training and leash training. I'm already neutered and already had kennel cough and recovered from it so I can go right to doggy play groups or day care. Please apply for me online so the Adoption team can be in touch with you about meeting me. I am available as of November 1st.

Adopted

Brady is 5-6 years old and is a Golden Retriever/Chow mix. Except for the Chow tongue (and maybe his head) he's all Retriever - sweet, goofy, loves to play. He is cat and child safe (but we would prefer older kids since he's 50 lbs). He is house-trained, crate and leash-trained. He just LOVES life and he had a great time with another foster dog who is a Greyhound. He ignores the small dogs and parrots in his previous foster home. He is heart-worm and lyme negative and up to date on Rabies. He lived with a new baby and a 2 year old but unfortunately the husband in the young family was deployed to Afghanistan. Please fill out an application to learn more about Brady and to see if he is the right match for you. He is in a foster home so that is why we need the application filled out first.

Adopted

Jeanie is a very sweet 12 week old Spaniel mix who needs a special adopter. She was a TN stray pup who has a mild "cherry eye" that is easily repaired by surgery. We have an appointment with the vet to see if it's better to wait until her spay surgery to repair the eye or if it needs to be done right away. Where she came from, a rural town in TN, this minor issue would have been a death sentence for her as there simply aren't the resources to perform this type of surgery on dogs. She has a great outlook on life as this is a minor issue. She likes to play with the other pups and her eye problem doesn't slow her down. She likes toys, will chase a ball, or sit on your lap. She's an affectionate and loving pup who deserves a great family. Won't you open your heart today and be her special adopter? If you're considering Jeanie, please fill out the adoption application so that we can know a little about you before meeting her.

The volunteer who gave her a ride in the snow storm writes: "I have to admit that I totally fell head over heals for Kera and wanted to take her home with me. She kept nudging my hand for pets along the way and then didn't want to get out of the car when the ride was over. What an absolute sweet heart. I hope she finds a forever home with the most perfect of adopters. And hopefully she won't have to wait for long or I might have to claim her for myself." She is available 11/1.

Hi there! My name is Leif and I'm a nice, laid-back dog (I even sat nice for my photos, costume and all). I lost my owner when he lost his housing and I have been at Save A Dog for a few months, waiting for my special adopter. I'm not as cute as a little puppy, but I have a lot of love to give. My former Daddy would take me for a leisurely walk. We used to walk in the woods off leash and I never wandered off. I would walk in the water up to my chest and I love to swim if you throw something in the water (especially food). Before now, I have always been with my owner, so I'm used to someone at home, but if you're not home, I won't get into your stuff. I will probably take a nap. I would love for a nice fire to lay down in front of or a TV to watch. I like foot ball and baseball, but politicians put me to sleep. I weigh around 70-80 lbs. I'm good with other dogs, has been dog sat with other dogs, but I like to chase the kitties. Please apply if you are interested in adopting me.

Adopted

Liebchen is one of the smallest of the group of rescued dogs who came from Friends for Life in WV, and the most submissive. She weighs 12 to 13 lbs. and is 1 1/2 to 2 years old. She has been spayed and has received her rabies and DA2PPv vaccinations. She was rescued and has been worked with by Donna from FFL and is now here in MA and available for adoption. Liebchen will be timid in new situations so a quiet home, preferably with another dog or where she can be your close companion, is preferred. She won't get the socialization if you're gone all day, so please be someone who has the time. She does enjoy chasing a tennis ball. Her nickname, "Pokeynose", is because she "pokes" at you with her little pointed nose. REQUIREMENTS: Patience, TLC, and a completely fenced yard. A knowledge of canine behavior or previous experience with timid dogs is a plus. The nice thing about these dogs is that they do not bite, even when scared, so we have been able to socialize them quickly. We've had over a dozen successful adoptions with the dogs from this group who came up last year and we're hopeful that we can find this group great homes too. Each would be best with another small dog as another dog will help build their confidence.

She is a beautiful dog with beautiful eyes and her ears flop and she cocks her head to the side when you talk to her as if she understands what you are saying." Hi there! My name is Mike and I'm looking for a forever family. My last owner tied me to the front door of a high-volume shelter. I'm a pretty laid back dog. I'm pretty cool with cats and I'm house broken. I'm good in the crate and generally a really good dog. I like to be carried around like a baby. I'm pretty cuddly. I'm available 11/1/11. P.S. I've already had kennel cough so I have a natural immunity to it. My foster mom says about me: Mike is super cuddly and affectionate - his favorite spot is on the couch next to you or in your lap...or on the couch and in your lap! He likes laying in the bed with you too. He loves to sleep and play, and really enjoys belly rubs. He's great on a leash, and loves the car too - and definitely housebroken. Mike will be at an adoption event at Petco in Natick this Saturday, Nov. 12th from 9:30am to 11:30am if you would like to meet him. Please fill out an online application.

Napoleon is an adorable 10# neutered male Spitz/Pom mix. He's around 3 yrs old and shy when he meets people for the first time, but after two days he will be completely attached to you, following you everywhere you go and spinning for his treats. He's very cuddly and affectionate with his foster mom, and like many small dogs, he shrinks away from big hands coming at him and is afraid of men. An all female home would be the best setting for him. He has a beautfiul, soft coat and loves to lay by you and snuggle. If you're busy with other stuff, he snoozes on the floor or in his crate. He doesn't chew on things or make mistakes in the house. He loves to go for rides in the car. He's fine on the leash and loves going for walks. He's learned basic obedience commands, hes very smart and eager to learn. He's housebroken but needs to be taken out (on a walk or in fenced in yard). He'll hang out in the crate with the door open during the day, but at night he likes the bed. We hope that eventually he would be able to sleep with his adopter as hes a good sleeper. He loves the company of other dogs but is more attached to his people. Hes wonderful with cats. Not sure of his exposure to children, so best if he went with teens and up or to an adult home. He is available to meet you but because he's in a foster home, please fill out an online application if you would like to meet him so we can bring him here to meet you.

Noble is not a dog to sit home alone all day or to spend the day at doggy daycare. He LOVES people!! We are looking for breed experience as he is a large dog, also who might knock over a small child in his exuberance. He is not yet house trained, so needs an experienced adopter. Adopted

Wendy is a very gentle 2 year old spayed Schnauzer / Terrier mix who needs a new home. She weighs around 45 lbs. so is larger than a typical Schnauzer. She is very affectionate and likes to hang out with you. She knows where the couch is, but will choose a dog bed if you guide her and she will settle down nicely. She loves you to stroke her. She loves the smell of toast as it comes out of the toaster and will beg a little, then will settle down. She likes soft toys and will chase a ball. When you're sitting at your computer, she will come over and put her paw on you. She is available now. Many, many adoptable pets like this one are sitting inside southern animal shelters praying that someone like you will make the decision to adopt and save a life. Please help us by filling out an application ahead of time so we can have it ready when you come in. Check our weekend shelter hours.
