Cash is a really sweet 5 month old English Bulldog / Basset Hound mix. He has been in foster care in Indiana ever since he was a very young pup, and he's really come out of his shell in his foster home. He walks well on leash and is almost house broken. He is a real snuggle bunny. He is an outdoor nature lover, having spent many hours taking long walks through the fields and woods with his foster mom and all the other dogs. Cash loves all dogs and he likes cats but likes very much to aggravate them in playful ways. He has lived with two very tolerant cats. They have shared the same bed on several occasions. He enjoys toys and chew sticks, He loves fresh chicken and beef or venison -- these are favorites mixed with his dry kibble. House training came easy for him. He will sleep through the night after being let out before bed, usually 9 pm. Cash may not go to the door as he is used to an open door always being offered. He does well riding in the car although he does not go that often. No car sickness when he has ridden. Overall, Cash wants his forever home and a life that is filled with love, love, love. He is not a barker but he is sure to let you know if something is amiss. This little guy will be a grand addition to any happy loving family. Please fill out our online application so that we have your information when we come to meet him. He is available now.

Adopted

Chance is an adorable Lab/Beagle mix who was rescued when he was a tiny pup. He is about 4 months old now, weighs 18 lbs as of 2/25/2013. He has a wonderful temperament. He is a very loving little guy, he goes in his crate willingly, (no longer than 3 hours). He is house trained but will use the puppy pad by the door if your not quick enough. He is extremely friendly and does well with other dogs. He loves to play with his toys and chase the ball around the garden. He knows his name and will come when called (up to a point, like any pup would). He also understands the words ’leave it’. He loves human contact, and will cry when you leave the room, even if the other dogs are with him. Chance would do well in a home with other dogs to play with. He absolutely loves the outdoors, so someone that has plenty of time for long walks and outdoor adventures would suit him. Chance does enjoy falling asleep in front of the fireplace and is quite the couch potato at the end of a hard day at play. He has great potential and is a very smart pup. Please fill out an online application if you are interested in him. If you already have an application on file, just email to express your interest. He is available after 3/13/13.

Daisy, ~ 9 months Female Feist / Jack Russell Terrier  Mix
Daisy
Daisy   Daisy

Adopted

Daisy is a 9 month old small Terrier (Feist/Jack or Rat Terrier who is GREAT with kids! She came into rescue because she was left in an apartment when a family moved away and didn't take her. The people that lived next door took her in, but could not keep her as dogs were not allowed. They told the rescue woman that came to get her that the family had two special needs children, and that Daisy was devoted to them. Not thinking too much about it, the rescuer took Daisy to her new foster family. The minute she saw the young children in the car her reaction was one of joy. She started whining and was so happy, when put in the back seat with the children she began giving kisses and snuggled up with them, as if all was right in the world for her again. We found out that the ages of the foster family were the same as that of her family that left her, 3 and 6 years old. This dog was born to be around young children, although she still needs exercise. She watches over them when the kids go to sleep,. She goes with the kids to be dropped off at school and whines when they get out of the car. She will play fetch, is very well behaved, and would love a fenced yard as she has spent most of her life in an apartment and truly is not an apartment dog. She wants to sniff and explore, and foster mom says it would not be fair for her to not have a yard of her own. She is 100% house trained and loves to chill out on the couch with the family. She is a perfect family dog and must have, gentle kind children as we think it would break her heart if a child was mean to her, because she loves them so much. Please fill out an application online as she will probably be spoken for quickly. She is available after her health exam (3/13/13).

Adopted

Daisy-Dew is a very petite Labby-looking dog who is 2 years old and in need of a great home. She came in with her pal, Pam. We called them the Dancing Dogs because of the way they pranced around. She is a cute dog who weighs around 17 lbs. and loves to play fetch. She will play for hours. She is crate-trianed and goes into her crate willingly for quiet time. She likes to sleep on the back of the couch and look out the window. She does try to chase cats to play so is probably best in a home without them. She likes women and smaller people, is afraid of some men, although loved the husband in the last household. She would love a quiet home where there aren't a lot of kids running in and out as she gets overwhelmed with a lot of chaos. We're looking for previous dog experience with a very loving owner, a single woman would be great. She is in a foster home so we'll need your application in advance to set up a private meeting with her. This little dog is beyond delightful and will flourish in the right home.

Dori is the most beautifully, elegant and graceful dog you will ever meet. We're not sure of the breed, but she is tall with the softest fur and a Boxer-like face. She weighs around 60 lbs. She is house trained and has always lived in a home. She loves to lounge on the sofa. Her owner turned her for lack of time. She is good with children, cats, and other dogs. She's a real sweetheart. She could gain a few pounds, but her physique is long and lean. She is already trained and knows the following commands: Sit, down, show me, Bed, Quiet, Easy, and Walk. If she goes with a family she will need a fenced in yard in order to get adequate exercise and be safe. She is afraid of thunder storms and she wants to snuggle during them. She enjoys agility, car rides, and walks. She is a lap loving social butterfly who is active and playful. She is allergic to flea bites. She loves the car and doesn't need a crate for rides as she sits nicely in the back seat. She is available now. If you already have an application on file, we can set up a private appointment for you to see her. Otherwise, come to our drop in hours on weekends (listed on Web site). Hi there! My name is Duke and I am a very loving guy. I can do many things, including walk on the treadmill. Here's what they say about me: Duke, a 2 year old Treeing Walker Coonhound, is looking for a home. He is a GORGEOUS dog and he's very comical. If you appreciate a hound you will love Duke. He is a funny guy in a dog suit. He crates well and is currently in foster care learning house manners. His previous owner let him sleep on the bed, so that's a hard habit to break, but he doesn't seem to mind the crate. He likes to run around the fenced in back yard looking for bunnies and squirrels. He would be okay on invisible fence as he can jump a five foot fence. He comes when called most of the time and loves playing with other dogs. We're not sure how he is with cats. Duke loves to ride in the car. He has a healthy fear of riding lawn mowers. Duke was not happy being an outside dog, but he likes to go out with his people and then come in when his people come in. He's a nice dog who deserves a good home. If you already have an application with us and would like to apply it to Duke, please let us know. If you don't have an application, please fill one out and we have it printed out when you come to meet him. Thanks so much!

Lucy is a DARLING of a dog, so sweet and very submissive. She seems to have Border Collie, Lab, Spaniel, and possibly hound in her. She's a real mix so is not a herding dog or true to the other breeds as well. She was turned by a local owner along with her six puppies. Now that the pups are weaned we are getting her in shape for her spay surgery and subsequent adoption. Lucy needs a forever home and with someone who is going to dote on her. She hasn't had much up until now. When you first meet her she will be full of energy outside, but inside she just wants to crawl in your lap. As she is a young dog, she needs someone who will exercise her and be with her. She is good with kids, dogs, and cats, but we've found she will step on a small pet in her exuberance so larger pets and kids would be ideal. She will be ready in March, but we'd like to get a home lined up before that time. She won't disappoint you. Please don't get her as a "friend" for your dog as she craves human attention. A working home would not be a match as she needs lots of attention and exercise. She will be at our shelter to meet on 3/9/13 from noon until we close at 3 PM.

Mocha is a confident puppy who loves to play with her siblings. She is a boisterous puppy that is sweet as can be, though. She likes to crawl in your lap and play! Penny – A sweet and loveable little girl who can be timid at first but as soon as she warms up she is ready to play! She is sweet and gives lots of puppy kisses! He is good with other dogs and in his last home he did well in doggy daycare, getting along with all dogs. However he is best in a stay-at-home situation as his recent owner worked long hours and it was just too much time alone -- dogs are companion animals and need the time with their humans. Previous owner says about him: He is a terrific dog in many ways --very friendly, sweet tempered, loves other dogs and people including kids, walks well on a leash and rides well in the car, loves toys and will fetch a ball. Has a real "personality" and seems quite smart. Knows sit, down, shake, and (to a degree) stay. He has learned to sit before going out the door for a walk.
