Adopted

Ally is up for adoption. She is approx 18 months old and up to date on all her shots. Ally is a small/medium sized 18 month old female dog who was adopted as a puppy from a Shelter in NH. She is a small mixed breed, some corgi/beagle/basenji possibly. She is a sweetie and loves attention. She is an active dog who needs walks or a large yard to run in. She has been crate trained and actually loves her crate. She sleeps there at night. Give her a treat and she will do anything for you. She can sit, give you her paw and roll over. Ally is possibly best in a home as a single dog as she doesn't like to share her treats with other dogs as she was bitten by another dog over a treat, so she needs some counter conditioning in that area. She enjoys playing with other dogs however. She has not lived with a cat but but is mild mannered so might be be ok with them. Ally WILL NOT be at the meet and greet on Sunday.

Adopted

Bell is a 10 year old Beagle girl who was rescued from a high kill shelter in AL. She was listed as urgent and both she and her pal, Sam the cocker, were in extreme danger of being euthanized so they were pulled from a shelter in Athens, AL. They are such sweet dogs, both deserve better. Bell is a curious beagle who is full of antics and still loves to play like a pup and give kisses. She has a ton of chutz-pah and if you like the beagle personality, she is your girl. Her foster mom swears she's a member of the Red Hat Club who is the life of the party, even though she knows the bloom is off the rose. She is into everything, and fast! Sam is like the little old husband that drives her to her shopping adventures and keeps her in martinis. They seem like they are so in love! She and Sam were flown up here from their foster home in NC by a very generous private pilot, can you believe. Anyway, we would be thrilled if placed together but we're also realistic and understand that they need homes, so are willing to place separately. Bell was spayed, but has a mammary gland that has to be checked out. Her eyes are bright as can be, no cataracts or anything. Bell was groomed compliments of Furry Essentials Grooming Salon in Worcester. Will not be at the meet and greet....can meet in the foster home.

Murphy is a lover, all he wants is a home to call his own and a family to love him. He has been living in as an outside dog at a sanctuary in WV and is adjusting to life in a house. He is learning how to use the stairs and is becoming quite good at it. Murphy loves to be outside and is happy to get the chance to tromp around in the snow, so he would love a fenced in yard, although it's not a requirement as he's good on leash as well. When it snows he bounds around the yard like a puppy. He is very quiet and well behaved in the house, mid sized and not a barker. He has no food issues, is housebroken, and not a big furniture climber or chewer. He is excellent in the crate, but doesn't really need it as he is respectful when left alone. He is a lovely soul who adores long walks, looking out the window and cuddling up in front of the TV. He would make a great jogging partner or just a pal to hike with and then sit by the fire with you. He is an easy keeper, and bonds quickly to anyone who shows him love. As he grew up in an outside shelter in a rural part of the country, he is a little wary of loud noises at first but gets comfortable quickly. Murphy has not been raised with kids, so he is a little afraid of them and may not be the best match for very young ones, but fine with teens and even calm kids 10 and older. He is however very friendly with cats. He would do best as an only dog in the house, as he understandably had to carve out his own space in the shelter. Murphy loves to kiss and nuzzle and is overall just a wonderful dog. He will be at the meet and greets during the weekends.

Prince is a Save A Dog favorite amongs all our volunteers. He is the most loving, friendly, playful, good-natured 7 month old Pitbull we've ever met. He's an ambassador for the breed. And he must have had an awful life before he was found wandering the streets of Boston with a gash in his neck and cuts on his body. The vets who rescued him adored him too and he was even welcomed into the cat room by the cats at the vet clinic where he was neutered. He is gentle with cats and dogs and is a real sweetheart of a dog. He can't tell us what happened to him, but doesn't seem to hold it against his human caretakers. He is now with us at Save a Dog and in a foster home....this is the report on him: He is incredibly smart, already loves going into his crate ( still whines, but goes right in if I point to it), is housebroken, gets along with all other dogs, comes when called , knows "leave it" and has learned "sit" in one day. He is well on his way with "stay" and "wait", too. This is a dog for someone who wants a lap and cuddle dog ( anyone familiar with pitties should already know this) as he wants to be on my lap snoring away any chance he gets.... A home with children 10 and up or with single adults, would be best for him. He has a little separation anxiety, understandably so. He's just a baby and needs his people around to take care of him.

Adopted

Samantha and her sister Sadie was given up because their owner could not afford to feed them any longer. Both are from TN. Samantha is here now and is a sweet dog. She would be happier with another dog as a friend. When she's alone she's a little sad, but when we bring Luath out, she gets really happy and prances all around, so we think she would be depressed if she doesn't have a dog friend to live with. Samantha is negative for heart worm. She is up to date on vaccines and is spayed. Golden Retrievers are very prone to cancer so we are strongly recommending fresh foods diet and a holistic protocol, no pesticides like frontline or advantix, and daily supplements. Holistic homes will always be given preference as these dogs deserve to live out their lives cancer-free. Sadie is being treated for heart worm and will be up in the spring.

Adopted

Sammie is a very sweet 7 yr old small Lab mix. She is GREAT with CATS! She's being fostered in a home with several cats and two other dogs and she's a love with everyone. She's house trained, she's quiet, and she's affectionate. She can be a bit nervous when she first meets new people, but is never aggressive. She would prefer to walk on rugs and needs work on hardwood floors, but is making progress. She would be a good pal for a senior dog as she's so gentle, but also for a retiree or single person who wants a devoted dog. Sammie loves to sit beside you and be petted and talked to. She will love sacking out with someone while they watch TV. She also enjoys long walks and playing with other dogs. Sammie had several mammory tumors removed awhile ago and is recovered now. Even though she has been through a lot, Sammie is still sweet and would make a wonderful companion for someone. She is in a foster home and we can bring her to our Sudbury location if we receive your application before the weekend. Much thanks to Dr. Cooper, doggie chiropractor, of Wayland, for giving her a great work up. Sammie will be at the meet and greet on Saturday and Sunday, February 21 St and 22ND.
