Grace is a 1 yr. old female Lab mix, already had a litter of pups. She only weighs about 40 lbs. Her temperament is very sweet and gentle. She really wants some one to love her, will practically climb in your lap to be petted. Walks on a leash, rides in the car just fine, loves to run and play , comes running as fast as she can when called. The foster mom from Tennessee says: "we walk everyday in the woods, she runs loose and does not run off, comes back when called. will go lay down when told. She gets along great now with my five other dogs, it did take a week or two for her to feel comfortable around a group of dogs. She does run along the fence when cars go by, so she may chase cars, and would need a fenced in yard or to be on leash at all times". She was rescued from the Animal Shelter minutes from being put to sleep. She slept in her foster mothers house in Tennessee for two months, uses a dog bed and a dog door, never tore anything up or had any bathroom accidents in the house. The puppy in the picture with her is not her own puppy, but Angelina. Since arriving in Massachusetts, we have learned she is exactly as described. Her foster mom here reports...She loves children and will give them nice, gentle hugs. She seems to be housetrained,as she sits by the door when she needs to go out. Grace enjoys playing with other dogs once she get used to them. She has gone on playdates with her foster mom and done really well! Everyone in the neighborhood is fallining love with her. She is a delightful, joyful and beautiful dog! She needs a warm lap in her forever home!

Hobo

Adopted

Hobo is a neutered male Chow/Collie mix who is around 7-8 mo old (according to the vet). He was tossed out near a humane society in rural TN and some people at a nearby business found him living under a shed on their property. They kept him inside the office during the day, but no one would take him home at night so they turned him back out at night when the office closed. This went on for a few days and the humane society threatened to catch him and put him to sleep....even though he was not bothering anything or anyone. The office worker put out a plea for someone to rescue him. He is shy for the first few minutes when he meets a stranger, but within 5 minutes he wants to be petted. He is great in the car, good on a leash, very gentle natured, playful. He seems fine with other dogs.....did not growl or bark at them even when they barked at him.......he just wanted to play with them. He loves his rope toys and will try to get you to play with him by bringing the toys to you. He would do well in a home with children who will play with him and be kind to him while he gets adjusted. He would enjoy the company of another friendly, playful dog. He likes being outside as well as inside....so a fenced yard would be nice and a dog door would be good. He is available to be seen after 1/9/09.

A guy found her dumped up on Kate's Mountain in WV -- a favorite "dumping place" for dogs. She is good with other dogs and was great with the test cat, Figaro (he's real dog-savvy and knows a good dog). The man who rescued her has a big heart, but too many dogs. He said her only bad habit is getting into garbage, but she was thin and had probably gone without food for awhile by the time he found her. She doesn't bark in the house and is great with cats and other dogs. She likes to ride in the cab of the truck and she was gentle during her picture-taking. She's loves tomatoes! The staff working with the kids did not like having a dog on campus & wanted him gone so he was rescued by a kind soul who takes in dogs. He gets along fine with other dogs, loves people & would love to be a housedog. He walks on the leash fine. He is coming up to Save A Dog and will be available on 1/23/09.

Adopted

Tabitha is a shepherd/husky mix. She is all black with a few tads of white and has crystal blue eyes like her sister Annie. She is almost housebroken and knows to use the puppy pads. She also loves to sleep with her foster Mom and loves to play with all her foster brothers and sisters. Both Tabitha and her sister Annie were rescued from an animal shelter in Tn. Tabitha does have a tendency to grab onto pant legs when the foster Mom walks around. She is slowly getting away from this habit as time goes by. The foster Mom has had to do a lot of sewing to repair her pant legs. Arrival 1/7/09 and available after 1/9/09.

Adopted

Thistle is one of a litter of five pups. Her mom is Lacey and is listed on our Web site. Like all of Lacey's pups, Thistle is sweet, outgoing, gentle natured, loves to cuddle, loves big dogs and everyone she meets. Thistle loves to play, never seems to get angry with her sibs, and always seems happy. She has a nice self-confidence, was never even a little afraid of the vacumn cleaner, hair dryer or other noisy things....a very happy, secure, little girl. Lacey is a true mutt, as are her puppies. We can see a little spaniel, possibly some whippet, some collie, you name it. They are adorable pups are are coming up during the Christmas break.

Adopted

Lucas, Travis, and Karoline are 3-4 month old pups available after 1/22/09. There is very little difference in Travis and Lucas. One has a broader face and fuzzy ears, but they are very similar. All three pups are friendly, fine in the car, okay on leash (at least don't pull and have a fit), get along well with other pups. They were picked up by animal control in rural TN and taken to a kill shelter 2 hrs away from our contact. She got an email asking if she would take Travis and Lucas since black dogs don't adopt very fast down there. When she said yes, they asked if she would take Karoline too! I think the two boys weigh around 25# and are 3-4 mo old. Karoline is around 20# and 3-4 months old. Applications are required first as we are not a "drop-in" shelter.
